the staff at your local Immigration office follow you on social media and they see you have been away!
Really? And about those who are without any social media? I don't have and I'm not a member of any social at all. Besides the tracking system of the social not working properly or they're not working at all.

Thai Baht is the problem. Of course the pound has his own trouble due to the brexit but the Baht is growing up against all western currencies for a while and it seems not to want to stop. I wonder why no one take action against that? That is right? Is that everything ok for the thai central bank and for thai authorities too? They have the power to stop and to reverse it. Why don't they do it? Apparently for some dark reason of which it's not given us to know, it is ok for them

If you hold a retirement or any non immigrant visa you need to get a re entry permit when you flight abroad If you don't have it the airlines doesn't boarding you unless you have a ticket to leave Thailand within 30 days. I honestly didn't understand very well what happened to that guy.

Moreover, also the thai Baht contributing to complicate things since it growing too strong against western currencies Then due to this overvaluation of thai currency many are struggling to meet the financial requirements ,not to mention the cost of living. In other words, Thailand is becoming too expensive thanks to the Baht as well

I think you will find you will not get an re-entry permit based on a tourist visa. Once you get the Non- Imm O and retirement permit you can then apply for a re-entry permit (single B1900, multiple 3800).
Wrong! I got a re-entry permit based on my tourist visa, 2 years ago, no problem at all. Then are you sure about the fees that you displayed? Single entry is 1000 Baht only ,not 1.900 unless they're changed lately. But 3.800 for multi-entry is correct

If you were to apply at the embassy in London you could submit a self-assessment tax form instead of the employment letter. The website states a company registration but people have gotten a METV with only the self-assessment.
It would be interesting that someone post his experience about that. Thanks anyway

Are you retired? While this could vary from embassy to embassy, I think in most cases showing proof you are retired is sufficient for them to waive the employer letter requirement. The objective is to exclude those intending to work illegally in Thailand. I suggest you talk with your home country embassy to see what they require from someone who is retired.
I'm not retired yet, I'm 60 years old but I need to wait 65 for that. Then according my age I wouldn't be a proper candidate for work in LOS As I said the funds are the sole thing that I can provide. Thank you anyway

Hi to all
I wish to apply for a METV since I'm planning to spend 6 months in LOS and then travel in Europe with my thai girl friend. A METV would be a best solution to me, since the double entry is no longer available I can meet all the requirements except one: proof of employment. I don't have a job but I'm hold sufficient funds to spend years in LOS. I've saw in few embassies web sites in their requirements list says 5000 English pound, 6000 Euro and so on, or letter from your employer. But the majority of them doesn't show this distinction. No job no visa? I don't think that many employees can spend 6 months a year in holiday. Probably none. Could anyone give me any clarifications about that ? Thanks

I always brought cash on my thai trips and I never used the ATM for withdrawals purpose . And I will keep that way in my future trips. But if someones likes to feed banks and waste money, ok go ahead

I don't understand what a problem is to carry 500 euro or pound or 600 USD in your pocket. It would be the best solution rather a desperate ATM searching in arrivals area. It sound quite stupid to me use ATM in order to withdraw cash in Thailand or anywhere abroad Not just you will get the worse exchanges rates, but you will be double charged by your home country bank and by thai local bank too. Personally I always carried my funds in cash and I got the thai Baht at local money changer who give me the best exchanges rate.

Sorry, but I haven't read the previous 150 posts, but does it have to be B20,000 in Thai currency, or can it be the equivalent of B20,000 in Thai currency, like B10.000 in THB and say US$450 in cash?
You should have 20.000 Baht or equivalent in another currencies Since you cannot buy thai currency abroad

I don't get it. She's got the visa from Thai embassy in Cameroon, isn't it? Does that embassy issues fake visa? This story is quite weird to me

Ok but this survey don't explain the reasons of this displeased, so I try to take a gamble. Probably most expats are unhappy due to the thai authorities behavior against them, specially against the long term stayers

Hi to all. I just got my double entry tourist visa by thai embassy in London My question is: can I book my return date 3 or 4 months later after the date of entry?
I'm well aware that I can get the extension in Thailand and use the second entry as well But I'm afraid that I could meet some problems during my departure at check in
Thanks

It's so stupid Then one should not even leaving home Nay not: an earthquake would be occur then the house collapse on you

Is Thailand part of Eu? I don't think so. Then which right is it dare give orders to Thailand ? The damages that it causing to the European countries doesn't enough for them ?

sad, but true that Pattaya Visa Run companies do not know the rules.
The companies in Bangkok are more competent.
I rather believe they are well aware about the new rules, but probably the one day visa run is no longer their core business. Then they're trying to address you to other more profitable solutions
-
I've already done the extension at immigration last month ,then I'd get only 7 days of extension this time.
So I can't see other alternatives than the visa run.
Anyway thank you for your replies.

Wrong! I'm holding a non Imm O visa based on retirement with one year of validity, and I do not need to leave the country within 90 days.
