Love it. Glad I do not own a car. Last hailstorm in 2545, had 200 small dents in my pickup truck, did not break paint, pissed me off good.

I got in Thailand on 27/09/2558. I asked about 20 people about the junta and martial law. Out of that 20 people--NO ONE knew there was a junta in control, that there was another coup, that martial law was in effect or that there was a curfew. You ain't in Kansas anymore. You are in the wonderful Kingdom of Thailand.

1 person to live comfortably I think is 40,000 baht.
2 people is 60,000 baht, because things are so inexpensive here, but you still do not want to hear your wife, girl, or ladyboy tell you that you are cheap. MyThai ladyboy told me I was cheap once, it comes down to spend 3,00-5,00 more baht per month OR be lonely and unhappy. Money is nothing hear. I rent a 67 square meter 1 bedroom condo with cable, electric and water for 11,300/month, that is $347.00 in US Dollars. Plan for extra money, and keep everyone happy. Remember food is cheap. The 2 of us eat for 500 baht. 2 people to go to a new movie at Central Airport Mall in Chiang Mai is 200 baht, $ 6.00 USD. In US that same movie for 2 will cost you $22.00 in expensive cities like NY, LA, DC, Seattle, and Chicago. Plan for extra cheap expenses.

The Thai government does not want all the people educated--you know why---They will learn how big of thieves that the government really is, that's why.

The sex business is getting full of thieves who will get you in a hotel room, when you go to clean up after, will through your pants out the window and steal all your money.
The younger generation of Thais think we are rich and resent when we do not give them the FREE RIDE they think they deserve. NO ONE gave me a FREE RIDE, why should I give one.
THIS IS ALL because the government is more corrupt than when I was here in October, 1972 for six months, and the government is getting worse every day.
Normal Thais are in the sex business, because the daily minimum wage just got raised to 300 baht a day on 1/1/2015. A sex worker can make 1,500 baht or more in 1 hour rather than the normal 10 hour Thai workday of 300 baht.
In Chiang Mai, there are 150 - 200 new buildings being built. That means there is money in Chiang Mai.
Too bad the upper 5 % are highly protected by the corrupt military and the corrupt government.
In Thailand the poorer 95% are not fairly represented.
THIS WILL NEVER CHANGE----it has changed for the worst since 1972.
