  1. I can only imagine what a Thai driver would be like driving in snow. The IQ of a Thai driver is 0 in rain and would be a negative in snow.

Also, while I'm at it. Why can't they crack down on motorbikes without tail lights? They are a real menace. I drive from Khonkaen to Pu Wiang  at night several days a week and and its like a game of dodgeball . It's like they're on a suicide mission and I' m sure operating tail lights would save lives

  2. Most of these big trucks have very poor rear lighting systems. Some that do, aren't even red. And with no clearance lights at the top of the truck they are very deceptive. On a similar topic, I would estimate about 75 percent of motorbikes have no tail lights and are a real menace on the highway. We drive between Khon Kaen and Nong Rua very frequently and I dread that drive at night. It seems most motorbikers are on some sort of a suicide mission. A lot of them have a basket in front for carrying things and when there is something in the basket, the headlight is blocked out. Duh

  3. I still have my regular Canadian drivers licence in my wallet. The last time I showed it to a cop, he wouldn't give it back until I gave him 200 baht. I also carry photocopies of my licence and if he diesn't like the IDP I'll show one if the photocopies, leaving the real original licence as a last resort and holding it up to the window so he doesn$t get his tea money hands on it. All the while being polite and courteous to the officer.

  4. If everybody played exactly by the rules, the immigration department would lose a lot of revenue and therefore they would put in some more ridiculous rules with associated fines to make up for the loss.

My Thai wife got a permanent resident card for Canada and has no need for a visa and no ridiculous check in requirements. Why can't this country just reciprocate? We live half a year here in Thailand and the other half in Canada.

My visa for Thailand is a one year OA and I still have to check in every 90 days to confirm I am still at the same address. Would it not be prudent for them to say " if you move or change address, please call us" and don't waste half a day going through the hoops. The more I"m here, the better it looks across the ocean.
