of course. its a shakedown
Costs 46000 baht for 1 years cover for a 52 year old. Would much rather put in bank an extra 400,000 baht making it 1.2 million deposit rather than pay 46000 a year which will only increase in age.

It's not just about putting it in, thats the easy part. Try getting it out. It was a nightmare trying to get 500,000 baht out.

Its a deal the Health Service Support Department director-general Nattawuth Prasert-siripong has done with Thai insurance companies for which he will no doubt receive millions of baht in commissions. This is the way things are done in Thailand. Use government contacts to pass laws which are win win for the corrupt government official who receives large brown paper bags under the table and the companies which benefit, in this case, Thai insurance companies.

I guess you failed to read the first line under notice
I normally get a multiple re-entry on the day my retirement visa is approved however, this time, they hand delivered my passport when they came and checked where i was living and i never went back to Phuket town to get the re-entry.

Yes will apply for the extension during the last 30 days of the 90 day entry from the visa. Also apply for a re-entry permit as soon as you get the extension stamp done.
Unless Phuket does it differently the 90 days will start from the date you applied for the visa. The will post date the visa issue date and entry stamp to that day.
This what i got today and told to return on the 7th June. Doesn't look like a 90 day visa however i guess they need to send it to Hat Yai to change the status to a Non O 90 day visa or something like that?

You still have over 15 day remaining on your entry but Phuket immigration may want more days than that.
I guess you failed to read the first line under notice.
They told me i need 21 days left. With 20 days left ( 18th April - 8th May ) i also had to get a 30 day extension which cost 1900 BAHT on top of the 2000 BAHT paid for the T.M 87.
I assume i'll also need to apply for the retirement visa in the last month of the 90 day Non Immigrant O which is in June?

I didn't know i could get a re-entry visa at the airport late at night on a Friday? I flew out with Dengue fever to go to hospital in Singapore. Wasn't thinking clearly and clearly, i screwed up.

retirement visa. You had a extension of stay based upon retirement
Whats the difference between a retirement visa and a extension of stay based upon retirement?

I left the country while i had a valid retirement visa and didn't have a re-entry permit so when i came back, my retirement visa was cancelled and i was given a 30 day tourist visa.
See attachment
What happened was i got dengue fever and wanted to see a doctor outside Thailand so i flew out late on Friday night, something i regret.

I screwed up there because i emailed the Thai Embassy and they told me i didn't need one. Now my retirement visa is cancelled with more than 11 months remaining, i'm on a 30 day tourist visa and i have to get a Non O and the then reapply for a new retirement visa.
-
Awesome, I'll give it a go tomorrow and report back here.
The reason i asked was because i did ask a immigration consultant who told me i have to go to Singapore to get a 90 day visa.
I assume after i get the 90 day Non O, i can †hen apply for a retirement visa inside Thailand?
Thanks for your help @ubonjoe

I can apply inside Thailand for a Non Immigrant O visa even if i'm on a 30 day tourist visa?
-
Does anyone know if its possible to get a re entry visa ( For 1 year retirement visa ) from Phuket International Airport ( Outside Business hours ) ?
-
Sounds like i have to go to Singapore and cannot apply in K.L.
Or you could enter on a tourist visa or visa exempt and apply at your local immigration office for 90 day non immigrant visa (category O) entry.
I didn't think i could apply for a Non Immigrant O visa inside Thailand?
-
I need to get a 3 month Non O Visa outside Thailand.
When i return to Thailand, i'll apply for a retirement visa but i'm not sure which O Visa to apply for as there are several on this list. http://www.thaiembassy.org/kualalumpur/th/services/99061-Visa-Requirements-II.html
I'm thinking of going to K.L.
Last time i did this in K.L, i just filled out a form and it was approved the same day but i think things have changed as i read i need these requirements :
- Bank statement with a minimum deposit equivalent to 800,000 Thai baht or Income Certificate with a minimum monthly income equivalent to 65,000 Thai baht 7.
- Medical certificate issued in Malaysia within the last 3 months showing no prohibitive diseases as indicated in the Ministerial Regulation No. 14 B.E. 2535 (1992)
- Certified criminal record in the applicant’s country of origin or current country of residence issued by competent authority within the last 3 months.
Do i need all these?

they want to know if you do still live there, lately it happens very often, maybe they got information saying the contrary, with IMO anything (lately) it's possible as for keeping the passports, because IMO very surprised with some answers because the IMO office keeps one's passports while investigating or on suspicion of something, it happen to me, my wife, 2 of my neighbors last month, as for the passport return in exchange for the "envelope" be prepared for anything, they will come up with some shitty stuff to extort, unfortunately see it happen very often
The only reason they took my passport is because i applied on a Thursday and would normally return the next day, Friday, so they saved me a visit and delivered it the next day, Saturday which is the day they took the photos.

I've been on a retirement extension for seven years now (four years before that I was on a marriage extension). Shortly after my annual extension last year in August, I received a phone call from an IO officer advising me that he would be visiting my home on the next Saturday and he wanted to confirm that I would be home. I agreed to his visit. When he came, he advised that he and his colleagues had a plan to eventually visit all farangs that were living in Suphanburi province just to get to know them and to understand where they lived. He also asked why I did not have a marriage extension. I advised him that I elected to use the retirement extension as it was easier to obtain annually. He accepted this explanation. He was very polite, never asked for money, took a few pictures of my wife and me in front of the house, and wished us well as he departed. So, at least in Supahburi province, visits to farangs at their homes are now common and don't imply that there is anything wrong. I, however, never had my passport taken from me by an IO.
Exactly why i apply for Retirement visa instead of a marriage visa as well, It's Easier.
The only reason they took my passport is because i applied on a Thursday and would normally return the next day, Friday, so they saved me a visit and delivered it the next day, Saturday.

If you don't mind as it is not clear to me. You changed from a marriage extension to a retirement extension? Did your husband go with you to the IO when you changed to a retirement visa?

What blank form?
Don't know, it was in Thai. I guess i should have asked my Thai partner to read it but i know this guy from the immigration office has been there ever since i first applied 10 years ago so i trusted him and signed it.

I see no where in the OP where there is any mention of being married to a Thai.
1. Man
2. Phuket town
3. Still married but i applied for a retirement visa as easier than marriage visa, which was granted.
Update : Everything went fine and no money was requested. 3 minute job. See my extended reply.

do tell us what happened after.
He came and went very quickly, Only 1 person, who was the same guy as the one who stamped the application at the Phuket town immigration office. He took 3 photos of me and him, of me alone and of me and my partner, all in front of my villa.
He never asked to look inside the villa and didn't ask any questions at all.
He then got me to sign a blank form and then gave me my passport back and then left. He told my Thai partner he never wanted to come and do the check but that he was ordered to by the big boss and was checking 4 applicants in the same area.
He also stated some foreigners where breaking the law which is why he was ordered to do these checks.
At the end of the day, nothing intrusive or anything to worry about. Now i think he'll remember us and next year should be a quick and easy process to renew my visa at the office.
The fact they kept the passport was probably because i applied on a Thursday so rather then make me come back to Phuket town, they delivered it on Saturday.

Got the 3 month visa today. Not sure why it took so long? They stated the paperwork had to go to Hat Yai which is why i needed to have at least 21 days which forced me to buy another 30 days costing 1900 baht. Not sure i believe them and feel like its a way to get more money.
Am i wrong?
