Personally I expect immigration to use enough resources to make the process efficient and fast in any location, especially the ones that have a high demand. If they need 50 more officers and a big new building to do this in Jomtien or Chiang Mai then they should provide that. It's not as if they offer an entirely free service or something that benefits me in any way: with the exception of the 90-day report (which is completely pointless anyway) all services at immigration that I have ever used are charged for, and most of the procedures are overly complex and require far too much pointless and repetitive paperwork.

At the airport also they should employ enough officers to ensure that no one ever has to wait for more than a few minutes, not that Thailand is the only country that completely fails in this respect.

I wouldnt bother answering to this poster all he seems to be doing is finding negatives on the subject which I posted as an observation & experience of what I have recently done. ?

  2. Hi everyone.

I just thought I would share this experience with you all.

Iam staying away from Pattaya for a while and living up in Maesot near Mynamar border with gf family hse. Just had hair salon built for her so not getting too bored yet ?

Anyway went to do my annual extension of stay Non O. So off we go to Bangkok bank in shopping mall wed morning 10.30 to get bank letter first in queue. Waited 15 mins all done including passbook update, photocopies. Surprised didn't have come back to pick it up like Pattaya banks. An yes this is a busy bank.

So then I drove to my immigration office which is situated next Thai/Burmese border. It's now 11am so expecting at least few people mainly Burmese. But hey no, only me there & a Japanese guy, so handed in all my paperwork which was correct. But lucky I bought hse book copies with me coz they wanted them & the gf signature who was with me. Didn't need that in Jomtien. Anyway once again I was thinking had to pick up next day or at least that afternoon. But hey no sat there about 20 mins & all done with a smile from the female officers. So was a happy chappy 1yr extension all completed in less than 1hr. I've been to this immigration office a few times to do my 90 day report & it can get busy especially being right on the border. Same with the bank as Maesot is becoming a major hub for businesses & travellers. So even though it can get a bit boring up here sometimes I sure enjoyed my ext renewal this year. Well hav a good day we're heading off to the local mountains for lunch. ??

  3. Hi, just need an update as I havnt left Thailand for few yrs. I'm goin UK next mth for few days an want to know when I arrive bac to report my address I won't be actually doing it within 24 hrs coz I will be visiting 2 other provinces before I get home to my local immigration office.

Will there be a problem when I do it as it will be about 4 days after that I've entered the country? I'm living in the gf families hse if that makes any difference.

    Thanks in advance.

I have today returned to the kingdom after a 7 month stint away. I will be going to re-new my permission to stay based on retirement tomorrow and file a new TM30( if they want it), obtain a new re-entry permit and just maybe have the GF file a TM30 ( if they want it). This will be at Udon Thani....I will file a report on it all after I have completed the task ..................actually I'm lucky as I just realised that friday is a public holiday here and my current permission to stay expires on Saturday and I fly back out of the kingdom on Sunday.

I actually have only returned to re-new the permission to stay and get a new re-entry permit.

Friday is not a public holiday.  Cancelled

Learn the local language. Living anywhere and not speaking the language is going to make it hard to meet locals. Dont be one of those sad foreigners who cant speak Thai and has no local friends.

Wot a load of codswallop. I've been staying in a local village up north west near Burmese border for last 15mths, An in Pattaya las 8 yrs an I hardly speak any Thai. An I've made many local Thai & Burmese friends.

So stick that in ur pipe & smoke it. ?

Oh dear, a newbie 'discovers' the re-entry desk at Suvarnabhumi and is appalled at the 200 baht levied for their service.

It has ALWAYS been there and has ALWAYS charged extra for the service because the service is ostensibly to serve passengers traveling urgently, in an emergency or otherwise at short notice and thus unable to avail themselves of the formal re-entry procedure at their local immigration office. In my case, my father died while I was offshore Vietnam and by the time I had made my domestic Thai shuffle to change from work gear to something more suitable, it was the weekend. Two hundred baht versus waiting 3 days to catch the local Immigration office was not up for debate.

    Non-scam of the year story.

No, it IS a scam. It only takes 1min to fill out the form. No difficult questions.

I'm sure even u could manage it.

An just coz he's a newbie on TVF, doesn't mean he's not a long term or regular visitor to Thailand.

But like others said it's a lot easier getting it from ur local immigration office.

  7. Hi, Just need up to date info for a friend of mine.

He has a bank acc with Bangkok bank & has got his 800,000b saved in a 6mth fixed deposit account where he can make withdrawals if necessary. He has a passbook which he can print off the 3 mths transactions if any. Also does the account need to show activity on it if remaining over 800,000b?

Will this account be accepted by immigration when he does his renewal based on retirement?

I'm sure Ubonjoe can clarify this.

    Thanks in advance.

It seems that my wife's father and his 2 brothers have solved our little drama last  night and have sent the cousin back to where ever he came from. So should have a couple more years before we have deal with army recruiters. Now to just get him to finish school.

So u didn't do wot most Thais do then if there is family conflict.

    Shoot him. ???

  9. Yes I'm living here in Maesot at the moment & was at the border on wed no problems. Not that busy, just mainly trucks passing through. I also hav 2 friends visiting me here from Pattaya next wk to do a border run.

    Open everyday 6am-8pm

Also a separate queue for the many Burmese that come &

    go daily.
