  1. How terribly upsetting.

    Are you ok ?

You are right mate... It's ok to treat visitors like total shit
Correct if you've been here as long as you say you must have realised this already, you'll get over it.

One weekend back in May of 2014 I had a similar thing happen in Tesco Lotus Phetchabun, the check out assistant had the cheek to give my change to my girlfriend, astonishing behaviour,it was as if I wasn't even there even though I paid the bill, talk about discrimination.

    How terribly discriminated

    Ru ok?

It happens all the time, even if u ask a shop assistant a question they will totally ignore u an carry on talking to ur partner.

    Get used to it. ?

  2. whistling.gif Many flights leave from the airport after midnight for European and North American destinations.

This brings them into their international destinations in the peak arrival daytime hours....especially when you consider the international date line and the time changes at the arrival destination.

it is not unlikely that many travelers with be checking in for an international flight before midnight on one day for a flight that actually leaves after midnight early in the morning of the next day.....say 1:30 or 2:00 a.m.

That is precisely why the overstay is not normally charged for that one day.

    Hi

I just started to worry when I read this topic!!!

My Tourist 60 day visa expires on the 2nd of May, and my UK flight leaves at 2am on the 3rd of May from BKK. Check in opens at 10pm so my plan was to get checked in and through immigration before 12 midnight.

Any issues with that? Hope I am worrying unnecessarily.

    Thanks a lot

No u will be fine, just check in at 10pm, go thru immigration an wait in departure lounge. No probs. When u board the plane they only check ur ticket an boarding pass anyway. Very rarely look at passport an certainly not looking at overstay dates.

  3. "Can a retiree just rock in at, say 10 am with his documents and be able to get his retirement extension processed that same day?"

    ---------------

In Pattaya it's not really a problem coming in at any time of the day for most things. I have gone in just before, or just after, lunch more than once but only for things like residence certificate, re-entry permit although never for an extension of stay request. There has always been adequate staff although there have been times that it was very crowded.

There has been a "Foreign Volunteer" working during many visits although they seem to spend their time explaining things to confused applicants rather than doing initial document checks.

Nothing bad I could say about our local Imm. office although I'm sure others may have had other experiences.

I agree, even when applying for retirement extension, I don't show up early. Usually late morning or early afternoon. Depends on many factors but quite often there's less of a crush then. For 90 day reports I'm usually in and out in a few minutes and even for the retirement extension it's been quite quick. Last year I went on Christmas morning for the extension and was in and out in something like 15 or 20 minutes.

There was a very knowledgeable farang who assisted confused applicants and would even check through documents before they went to the appropriate desk if they were unsure. I think his name was Barry. He retired several years ago. I have seen a couple of different replacement farang a few times since then. They seemed pretty useless anyway and I don't think I've seen them for a quite awhile.

Yes it woz Barry Kenyon that woz at Jomtien Immigration until bout 3 yrs ago. He's still around though.

  4. An extension of what ?

Do you have a visa (if so which visa) or a visa exempt entry ?

Extensions of stay are obtained from a Thai immigration office not from an "agent"

Generally speaking an "agent" is not required/needed to obtain an extension.

Why do you believe an "agent" is needed ?

Ok guys let me put this nice an simple for u.

I know I can go immigration to get extension of stay, but read my post slowly.

I said I want to know of an visa agent shop in Maesot, I don't need to explain why I need to use their services.

  5. ^You'll need a Re-Entry Permit, the Thais will not let you cross into "No-Man's" land without you checking out from Thailand, so to be able to return, you need to Enter Cambodia, thus entering another country.

Thai's get away with it, because they can get a border pas.

OK thanks, but do I need to have a visa on arrival or not? As I'm only going the casino at the border for 2 hours an then bac Thai side.

  6. If you have a multi entry visa no re-entry permit is required.

If you exit Thailand you will have to enter Cambodia before returning.

No sorry I meant I have a 1 yr visa not multi.

I'm not actually going into Cambodia, only the casino which is between the Thai/Cambodia border at Poipet.

So I won't need visa on arrival right?

    What "one year visa?"

All one year VISAS are multi entry so what exactly do you have ?

    Extension based on Retirement

  8. I'm going to Cambodia soon an want get single entry early but not sure exact departure date. Do they need to know on the form at jomtien immigration for the single entry? I'm sure ubonjoe will advise me.

You do not need an exact departure date to apply for a re-entry permit. Some offices allow you to leave the departure and return dates blank on the TM8 application form.

The dates mean nothing because they are not on the re-entry permit stamp.

    Thanks Ubonjoe.
