  1. I got mine 2 months back in Penang. 2 days and if you haven't been before then I would highly suggest it, great people, great food, if you like street art then it's a must!!You can fly down 2 different ways, either direct to Penang or to Hat Yai then pop across the Sadao border. My flight to Hat Ya was only 1200 Bht. And if you have time, you can head from Georgetown to a place called Batu Ferringhi and have some beach time. Stay at a place called Lazyboys, awesome chill out. In fact, I went just for the ED visa, planned on a 3 day trip, stayed 3 months!

    Sounds good.

Im in to Jacarta and Penang atm.

    Cheers

  2. You could contact Jakarta and ask what their requirements are. http://www.thaiembassy.org/jakarta/en/organize/17506-Address.html

I think you will find your best choice is Laos. The school will be familiar with their requirements.

Many embassies and consulates within the region have a much higher bar to get a ED visa. than Laos.

Thx Ubonjoe i know about laos done it few times. Thing is its a bit boring place. So trying other options. Will contact Jacarta
  3. You apply at one of the passport offices, I believe the nearest for you is in Bangkok.

The cost is 1,000 baht and they take the photo's themselves. For 65 baht the send the passport to your home by EMS. You will have it within a week.

Passport must be applied for by both parents, only one has to appear, but both must sign the form.

    Information here: http://www.mfa.go.th/main/en/services/1415/21479-Requirements-for-the-Ordinary-e-Passports-Applicat.html

    Thx

    Thanks for help

  5. Hi, where in patts i can translate birth cert?

I need it in eng, for thai foreggin affairs ministry, they need stamp it, thai and eng one, then I have to take it to my embassy. So its need to be good enough, I dont know need to be certified or something.

Im getting my nationality, for a baby.

    Thx

  6. Actually no! If the child is a Thai citizen permission is required from Mom is required before leaving the country. If the childs looks Thai in any way questions will be asked in immigration.Especially as Dad is in his sixties and travelling with a three year old. Worst case scenario is that he is refused permission to leave the country...

Nobody at the airport has ever asked me for anything apart from passport (Thai and British) and ticket for my boy (3 years old now).

I am in my 60s, It's always just me and him as mum can't get a VISA to the UK.

Same experiences for two of my male pals (both travelling to UK), one with a 6 year old daughter.

    Please stop repeating nonsense.

Do you know anyone actually refused? no you don't!

Ever seen a post on this forum, where a child was refused exit? no you haven't.

I have travelled numerous times between UK and Thailand with my daughter since she was <2 and I have never - I repeat NEVER - been allowed to exit Thailand without providing extensive documentation that shows exactly who I am and my relationship to the child. Because the birth certificate is in Thai it doesn't matter if she entered on one of her non-Thai passports; they want to see proof that the mother allows her to leave the country.

In addition, I have never - I repeat NEVER - been allowed to enter UK without providing extensive documentation that shows exactly who I am and my relationship to the child. Because the birth certificate is in Thai it created a serious problem the first couple of times but I am since carrying certified translations of the birth certificate and related documents and I am now able to clear immigration without spending 1 hour arguing with immigration officers.

The authorities doesn't do this to be mean, it is an attempt to stop child trafficking. Simply put: unless you are able to show documentation that proves your relationship with the child and your parental rights (OR documentation that proves parental consent) you are not allowed - I repeat NOT allowed - to remove the child from the country. Obviously you can get lucky and sneak through, but if they decide to check your documentation... This is in accordance with a treaty - Hague Convention of 25 October 1980 on the Civil Aspects of International Child Abduction - which has been signed by both Thailand and Great Britain.

The trigger point in my case appears to be the fact that my child doesn't have my surname. And I am not even close being in the sixties...

    Read this thread:

in particular post #16 where I wrote the following:

Very bizarre experience the other day at Heathrow; About to board the plane with my daughter when I was approached by four (4!) heavily armed (machine guns and bullet proof vests) policemen who first asked me for my name name and following my answer told me to step aside. You can imagine the embarrassment when every single person queuing up to board watched how an apparent and dangerous villain was apprehended. I was brought 100 yards from the gate to a secluded area and there asked "Mr.******", do you have any idea why we are interested in you?". "None what so ever", I answered.

I was told that BA staff had alerted the police of the difference in surnames a couple of days earlier when I bought the tickets. A COUPLE OF DAYS!!! "You are traveling alone with a child who is not yours, yes?" It took the police just under 30 minutes to verify the documentation and allow me to board the plane.

BA and/or the police had 3 days to verify the identity of my daughter, but they choose to wait until I am about to board the plane and "arrest" me in front of all passengers.

    Drive to laos then.
  7. I just wonder Sky UK works here

Satellites usually have a very limited area that they service. This is due both by power limitations and by design (geo-restricted content).

The farther you get away from the targeted signal area the larger the dish need to be to collect enough signal to render an image ... up to the point that you travel far enough away that the curvature of the Earth blocks the satellite's line-of-sight.

Many people around the world have installed LARGE satellite dishes to receive distant/weak signals. It's possible, just not very practical.

Most "branded" Satellite Set Top Boxes are only capable of receiving broadcasts from satellites in their service area and won't work with similar service elsewhere on the planet, mostly due to contract restrictions.

The Satellite Set Top Boxes that use DVB-S2 can receive the Free-To-Air/FreeView (FTA/FV) channels sent openly in the digital transport streams, and some are even capable of receiving encrypted content. But you'll find that the better subscription services require you use only their 'branded' set-top-boxes.

As for using a UK Skybox here... sadly, no. It won't work.

You're better off finding a more local service.

If you're interested in the technical info, take a look at LYNGSAT website that shows all the working broadcast satellites and their services

    LyngSat Europe Asia

Another alternative is to find an Internet Service that delivers the UK Sky content. Many options already discussed in these forums.

I use KODI i got everything free.

But quality is better on satelites. No buffering...

Thai net is slow... and most servers are in europe or usa

And i got someone doing doggy sat tv in uk, but it needs satelite.

    Thx for info

So I assume its a no go....

  8. mine wont so i can only guess yours wont different systems encoded you cant just wander up to a satellite and expect to connect

maybe the earths curvature has some thin to do with it ??

I mean if i ship box and dish from uk for example.

And yes thats what I ask it might be different satelite above thailand. And we are too far from europe satelite.

    Want some sat expert info

  9. In the UK, I have, sitting in a cupboard a portable satellite receiver and tuner used for camping and when at our old house in France...something like that might find you something to watch, although most of us just stream from the internet now.

Im sure any european satelite tv works in any europe country.

For example satelite tv from poland works in uk. Sky uk works in germany.

But I want know if it would works in Thailand.

  10. No not Thai, as no Thai parents. He'll be stateless until I get him a UK passport (which is not straightforward as I was not born in the UK) or he gets Laotian nationality through his mother, but that's not straightforward as she is unmarried and the father is a foreigner which is against Laos law.

    Im polish

We got blood law means if any of parent is polish it goes automatically to baby dosent matter where baby is born.

U got it complicated. Best of luck.....
