I like a beer when I'm on an overnight train trip. But I mind my manners and do not disturb my fellow passengers.
Just another knee jerk reaction and not very well thought out.

I have lurked on this thread and can't believe all the crap some folks have posted about Mobi's. The guy is trying to run a good business and takes the time to answer folks/customers that have a grievance but his efforts are never enough. I can think of some Dark Side bars where the customer is always wrong and the owners could give a rat's ass but poor Mobi is never right- despite his best efforts.
Hang in there Mobi and don't let the nay sayers get you down
PS- Can you please guarantee that when I visit your bar that all the girls will adore me, offer to go with me for free and my bill for a great night out will not exceed 199 baht?

Lancelot, So that'd be 95 rated E20 as per the manual pic you included?
Correct.
E20 is 80% 95 octane gasoline blended with 20% ethyl alcohol.
But she also runs well on Gasohol 91 :)
E20 is sold at a discount of 2.5 baht, compared with Gasohol 91 (90% 91 octane gasoline blended with 10% alcohol)

I use E20 in my CBR250. No problemas

Since the May coup, some educators have been saying Thailand's political turmoil is rooted in poor civic education as well as a lack of patriotism.
Lack of patriotism? Um, OK...

I was out yesterday in Chiang Mai's Old City, and I do believe a few more tourists are vising.

Graffiti by Thai tourists on the Great Wall in China . . . Chinese tourists taking a dump in the moat at Chiang Mai . . . sounds like they deserve each other . . .

Recent Opinion articles in Thai newspapers warning the West that Thailand will seek closer ties with China... Be careful what you ask for, you just might get it, 555

I would have thought that the good nun would sell the gifts and use the proceeds to benefit the poor.
Impossible for foreigners to understand Thainess
I totally agree with this sentiment; however, not only Buddhism is at fault. I think many of the poor could be fed, clothed and housed with money leftover if Catholics sold the Vatican and the Mormon Church sold their property in Salt Lake City - along with many of the other material possesions owned by other religiions and non-profits.
No argument from me Ked

I bet implementing a punitive fine -say about 500 baht- would bring this non sense to a swift end
Crime against foreigners is like free money and there is very little down side risk for the locals participating...
Little down side risk? 500 Bhat fine? This is attempted murder in the commission of a felony robbery. How about a mandatory sentence of 10 years in the worst prison in Thailand. No bribes, no probation, nothing buy 10 years. That might change some behavior when it is believed by the scum committing these crimes.
500 baht fine, It was sarcasm. In the recent past many locals that have beat foreigners un conscience have been fined 500 baht. Get it?

I was suprised that the guards would mess with an army colonel in the first place- and also that the army didn't take care of one of their own...

Correction, night time crimes carry at least double the penalty as opposed those carried out during daylight hours in Thai.

2004- Thailand records 11.7 million visitors
2013- Thailand records 26.7 million visitors
Seems visitors can't get enough of the local crime and scams

I too complete and sign the forms before I visit Immigration. The only blank I leave unfilled is the date- some times plans change

USA is just over 200 year's, Thailand is thousands of years. Leave them alone.

Auto companies enjoyed strong sales, in part due to the government's first time buyers rebate program. Auto sales are usually cyclical, in that strong sales for one or two years usually results in lower sales for the following years. Consumers can only finance so many vehicles- but maybe not here in Thailand

Today I went to Pun Pun and feasted on the HUGE chicken fried steak (Super Man?) and a large coffee. It was my good fortune to meet the man himself -Gonzo- and we had a nice chat.
I ordered my eggs over easy and this is the before shot:
Personally speaking I always prefer to eat my chicken fried steak breakfasts with a blue spoon. Gonzo didn't bat an eye upon hearing my request
I always clean my plate (only one meal for Lance today- I have one full tummy...)
Gonzo even gave me a nice discount for being a Thai Visa member; I will go back for sure!

Why take a chance? If you do, it *might* be challenged by the air lines denying you permission to board. It only takes one zealous air line or Immigration employee to spoil your happy day...
If you decide to roll the dice, good luck

This story comes as no real surprise. I am currently unavailable after all, so why would they bother?
And your statement also comes as no surprise- considering your name

Its not only Thailand and not just women. I see many young Western guys in Thailand now and most are single. Being single gives you mobility, freedom and frees you from working in a job you despise, just to "feed the family."
Thailand is becoming wealthier and women have more choices. The wealthier the society, the more expensive children become. The very poor view kids as an insurance policy, to care for them when they are old. The middle class have fewer children because, they are so expensive to raise and educate.
Many societies are less regimented today. more people are doing their own thing- including forgoing marriage

I seldom go out (married and all) but headed up to Loi Kroi in CM for a few beers. There was like, no farang men. I'm over 60 and my handsome-looking days are long gone, but if I was that type of guy I could have had a lot of fun. I don't think I've been so popular in a bar since I was station in Subic Bay in the 1980s and the entire fleet was out to sea except for some support ships. When your one of the few men in town, the gals become a whole lot more interested and interesting. lol Anyway, had fun until my step son came looking for me to tell me Mae said it was time to come home. I've had my fun in SE Asia over my lifetime. No regrets. But I tell ya, this is a great time for single guys to book a trip to Thailand. It's a buyers market so to speak. And sure, prices for food, drink, and entertainment have gone up, but they've gone up globally. Thailand is still a bargain.
I know what you are saying, but I was charged 180 baht for a lady's drink on Loi Kroh. I didn't ask the price before hand and I think they just charged what ever they felt like.

The dealer will sell it on to one of the tents selling second hand cars. Best to sell if yourself privately (highest price) or if more convenient to a tent directly.
Stevenl is right, try to sell it your self. Dealers do the same in the US, but a bit more sly- they pretend to give you a fair trade in price, but actually they are not giving you the full discount for a new car purchase.
