This story comes as no real surprise. I am currently unavailable after all, so why would they bother?
And your statement also comes as no surprise- considering your name

Its not only Thailand and not just women. I see many young Western guys in Thailand now and most are single. Being single gives you mobility, freedom and frees you from working in a job you despise, just to "feed the family."
Thailand is becoming wealthier and women have more choices. The wealthier the society, the more expensive children become. The very poor view kids as an insurance policy, to care for them when they are old. The middle class have fewer children because, they are so expensive to raise and educate.
Many societies are less regimented today. more people are doing their own thing- including forgoing marriage

I seldom go out (married and all) but headed up to Loi Kroi in CM for a few beers. There was like, no farang men. I'm over 60 and my handsome-looking days are long gone, but if I was that type of guy I could have had a lot of fun. I don't think I've been so popular in a bar since I was station in Subic Bay in the 1980s and the entire fleet was out to sea except for some support ships. When your one of the few men in town, the gals become a whole lot more interested and interesting. lol Anyway, had fun until my step son came looking for me to tell me Mae said it was time to come home. I've had my fun in SE Asia over my lifetime. No regrets. But I tell ya, this is a great time for single guys to book a trip to Thailand. It's a buyers market so to speak. And sure, prices for food, drink, and entertainment have gone up, but they've gone up globally. Thailand is still a bargain.
I know what you are saying, but I was charged 180 baht for a lady's drink on Loi Kroh. I didn't ask the price before hand and I think they just charged what ever they felt like.

The dealer will sell it on to one of the tents selling second hand cars. Best to sell if yourself privately (highest price) or if more convenient to a tent directly.
Stevenl is right, try to sell it your self. Dealers do the same in the US, but a bit more sly- they pretend to give you a fair trade in price, but actually they are not giving you the full discount for a new car purchase.

OP,
Whats the point of your thread?
To show that you are rude and a bully to wait staff who are just trying to keep a job?
You have to be American...wouldn't be surprised if you have some kind of camo clothing or hat right now.
There are plenty of boorish British and Aussie balloon chasers as well as Americans. Don't be a twit.
I hope CC gets his wish, all Americans depart and the Aussies, Brits, Ruskies and Chinese are quartered in Pattaya. Man, that could be the basis for a great reality TV series
We could even call it BARC Town Buffet Blues; BARC= Brits Aussies, Ruskies, Chinese...
Back on topic, the staff were clearly being over zealous. They would never try this with a Thai...

The case emerged around 2009, when Air, then 7, disappeared from the living quarters of her parents, migrant workers from Myanmar migrant employed to work on a sugar cane plantation in Kamphaeng Phet.
I'm not that religious but for evil persons who enslave seven year olds, I want to believe that there is a hell and that they burn in it.-

I bought a lady's drink (whiskey & coke) in Chiang Mai at an open air beer bar- 180 baht.
Yeah, I voted with my feet too

2.2 trillion Pounds Sterling, right?

Nothing like Pattaya. Did mine while I waited, 10 minutes only. Photocopy of my passport, tab bahn and three pictures. Amazed how efficient Pattaya Img has become.
Yes, I received several at Pattaya. The last one I applied for there was 300 baht, July 2013.

OP was just unlucky, that is one huge chunk of metal!

Much of the information spreading over the Internet (websites, Facebook posts, Line chats and so on) are half-truths, and some are completely absurd, such as the premise that Thailand is as rich as Saudi Arabia in terms of oil reserves. But people, including some who are educated, are seemingly ready to believe much of this propaganda.
Because an elder Thai told them so...
I've found that the locals will never believe any thing a foreigner has told them if it conflicts with what a fellow Thai has said-

I am sick of having to dodge moto bike riders who constantly break the law here endangering not only themselves but passengers, pedestrians and other drivers.
I can understand the OP's frustration; however, two small caveats:
1 Motorbike riders don't care
2 The cops don't careThe locals drive the same way they walk, cutting in front, pushing in an elevator before other people can depart.
Selfishness and I don't see it improving, ever...-

This administration's chickens coming home to roost.
The speed at which you are quick to condemn Obama is remarkable......virtually new land speed record could possibly be set IMO.
I read on another board that one expat's reason for leaving the USA was Obama. Whatever...
I chalk it up to people just like to complain. 2016 is coming up fast and we'll have a new bad guy to bitch about, thereby giving purpose to our unhappy existence. God forbid taking responsibility for ones own life and happiness

Suarez has served two previous bans for biting.

Is it really possible to become rich from trading?
Guaranteed.
Skeptical? Continue reading past investment success and totally correct future financial forecasts here on TV,
Most of the folks on TV have made millions in Thailand from trading, real estate and business ownership.Tthey also earned millions back home but came to Thailand to avoid neer-do-wells like Warren Buffet, Bill Gates and Sir Richard Branson
Absolutely. Particularly that Warren Buffet. In the five years to 2013 he underperformed the S&P 500 by a large margin. Pathetic performance. He winges that in the previous 43 5 year periods he outperformed every time, but it's totally clear he's a hopeless loser.
i wish i owned a small fraction of this loser's billions
I was joking Ayg- I hope you were as well

Guys would never dream of buying their girl friend a house -in the GF's name- back home seem eager to do that in Thailand.
A fool and his money...

Two Pirellis for 4,500 baht installed? Heck of a deal! You can sell the old IRCs, further reducing the cost of your upgrade

first, i would like to say to all the CBR 250 owners out there, i am not disrespecting your bikes.
im just repeating what i read in a fourm.
@ tingthongfarang, try dealfish.co.th
its in thai, but you can use the google translater.. you can get a slip on for as
little as 2500 and a full system for 5000 up.
good luck
No worries Charlie
. About the gearing down???? I have not had a problem but maybe there are other CBR riders out there who have??
I have owned two CBR250s, a 2011 and a 2012 ABS. No problems but the gear box was a slight bit smoother on the 2011. Maybe just a fluke or my 2012 isn't broken in yet at 9,000 kms
Congrats to OP on buying a CBR300. Keep posting and let us know how you like it

Do the Russians realise they are dealing with Thai ' law ' where things are not always so straightforward ?
Not this time my friend.
With all the bad press Thailand has received lately, the junta will jump on this opportunity to portray its cooperation in fighting crime and commitment to being a responsible world citizen

Well, isn't that just precious. A communist country praising a military dictator.
Yea.. but so far China did not invade as many countries as the USA did. They leave a mess everywhere in the world.
Never smart the USA.. loosing an ally over this.
I'm surprised at this post Rob, you have always struck me as a reasonable and balanced person.
Yes the US has invaded other countries and so have the Dutch- New Amsterdam, the present day New York City, was once a Dutch colony. And Indonesia as well. But I'm sure that all Indonesians love the Dutch
Yes, the USA, UK, Canada, Free Polish and other allies "invaded" Normandy in 1944. Is Holland a mess today because of that?
The First Gulf war was to expel Iraqi forces from Kuwait. Was that wrong in your opinion?
Terrorists flew two civilian jets into the Twin Trade Towers and killed around 3,000 people. Do you remember that day? In response the US and some of its Allies Invaded first Afghanistan, then Iraq. Those were mistakes in my opinion, after all the terrorists were Saudi citizens. If instead of conventional war, would you have opposed the US taking out the bad guys with special ops? Pity we didn't go that route.
You have your opinion and I have mine. There are some strong anti US statements on TV but most Americans have pretty thick skins. After all, hating the US gives purpose to some folks unhappy lives
Back to history, Germany and Japan pretty much trashed a huge amount of planet earth during WWII. Today they are respected and admired while the US is vilified and hated. Do you think the combined casualties of Afghanistan and Iraq come even close to WWII? If the US truly disregard civilian casualities, why didn't the US simply nuke Afghanistan and Iraq?
In any case, time heals all wounds and the US haters will eventually move on to a new nation to loathe. The Nazis burned people in ovens but now there is a Nazi Café in Jakarta. Some misguided locals think that Hitler is cute. Der Fuhrer is loveable but Americans are hateful. Beam me up Scotty...
I personally don't see China as an enemy of the US. But China is asserting claims in the South China Sea that alarm many ASEAN nations. Heck the Philippines kicked us out in 1992, but suddenly they want us back. Thailand kicked the US military out in 1975, If the US is so evil, why would it consent to go? Would the Dutch have left their colony of Indonesia, if the Indonesian people had asked them to?
I so look forward to the day when all US troops are brought home. Why should the US defend rich Asian and European nations that are not willing to commit the resources to protect themselves?

US continues to isolate itself , while China quickly jumps in to make friends with those.
Gee I wonder who is the smart one here.
PS. Posters from US, do not take it personal , it's not you, it's your president and his administration .
Many nations other than the US condemned the coup. Are those nations isolating them selves as well?
No big surprise here, many nations with functioning Democracies promote the same and protest when the military seizes control.
China has one party rule, so it would be unlikely for it to object to another nation trending in that direction.

This has nothing to do with ninety-day reporting. There's yet another dusty law on the books that states a homeowner must report an alien [sic] staying in their dwelling within 24 hours of said alien's arrival at dwelling.
Ovenman is correct, technically we must report report our new address with in 24 hours. Hotels are supposed to report our whereabouts to Immigration as well, but how many actually comply?
I'd say most of us don't report a change of apartment/house with in 24 hours and the Immigration officer was a bit over zealous. Perhaps she was showing her authority

The fate of next year's Cobra Gold is still unknown, pending further consideration. Washington on Tuesday suspended US$4.7 million (Bt152.7 million) in defence aid and halted a military exercise that had been under way in the wake of the power seizure.
That paltry amount is hardly significant to Thailand, it's more symbolic than direly needed aid.
I do, however, find it amusing that that this minor slap on the wrist "might drive a wedge" between the USA and Thailand. Yeah maybe but funny how the US is now suddenly popular in Japan, South Korea and the Philippines. Gee why is that?
The real issue is why is the USA protecting rich Asian nations in the first place? Or European ones for that matter.
I simply do not understand why China is an enemy of the USA. Sure, there is no love lost but they are our factory and happily accept the pieces of paper we exchange for real goods. Maybe China will refuse to sell to the USA? I doubt it too much money involved- and full employment in China lessens the chances of the average worker rising up for a change from one party rule. The US should rebuild its manufacturing base any way, good jobs pay good wages. And workers earning a decent wage pay taxes too
The Thais kicked the US military out in 1975 after the Republic of Vietnam fell. As a US citizen, I would welcome Thailand's cancelling the military exercises. Yes we have interests in Asia, but I don't see them as requiring military solutions. Bring the US troops home and let the Asian nations settle their differences themselves.

Is 6 month passport validity currently being enforced?
in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits

Why take a chance? If you do, it *might* be challenged by the air lines denying you permission to board. It only takes one zealous air line or Immigration employee to spoil your happy day...
If you decide to roll the dice, good luck
