Really... the report I saw said numbness as well, but no mention of treatment required. Don't like the sound of that.

I only read the 1 report and think it was on here. If I remember rightly 6 people suffered paralysis from side effects from taking Sinovac. They were given medication to reverse that which worked.

I am not claiming this to be what happened, I only read that so . . . . . gotta be careful how you word things on here otherwise there are the 24/7 TVFers who cant wait to put their white wigs on and cross examine you!!!

The rate of CVT blood clotting is likely higher after getting infected with covid than following a vaccine.

This study still needs peer review.

I dont disagree. Im already at high risk to clot without covid, but have survived covid. Im not going to put some juice in my body to increase the chances of clotting!! What is so difficult to understand about this?

So by your reckoning, the 2 boys who killed James Bulgar were badly raised?
These are animals and can turn in a second. Even poodles and Jack Russels are bitey little "&$$£(@} but because they dont kill they never get a mention! Those breeds are more angry than pit bulls!

You should do some research on this.  I'm not trivializing this at all!!!!  And yes, I'm pro vax because I want to defeat this enemy.  The sooner the better.

Blood clots happen every day, to thousands of people.  None of whom have gotten a jab.

Fatal blood clots claim 500,000 EU lives annually

I could say the same about covid fatalities Jeff but I prefer to stick with the crux of the conversation. ????
Just remember 1 thing, these pharmaceutical companies are relinquishing any responsibility to any future side effects one may contract. If that doesnt ring alarm bells I dont know what will.

exactly man, it's all down to personal choice at the end of the day, vaccines and certain medicines should never be mandatory. If people are super worried about Covid, then they simply have the choice to go and get  vaccinate and be done with it. that's absolutely fair enough and i have nothing against people wishing to do so.  But what i hate seeing  is when where people start shaming others who choose not to get vaccinated.

I feel exactly the same. Although it stops becoming a personal choice when it seems one will be banned from travelling if one refuses the vaccine which is a different topic altogether

This is exactly why i don't see the need to rush out and get vaccinated. I know this statistic reduces by a fair bit for older people and ones with health conditions, but as i'm still fairly young and pretty fit, i don't feel the potential risks of blood clots and other potential long term side effects are worth it lol

Totally agree with you. I am now in the at risk group with my conditions. If I had been a giddy sleeve roller I might have already gone and got jabbed and suffered with blood clots and croaked!! Theres no way Im getting vaxxed and I think I will be excused anyway now, knowing the facts. It seems some dont want to accept those facts - Jeez haha

you did  not know SILLY FARANG.  The E in EP has nothing to do with English.

    E = EXTRA    P=PAY

It is simply in way in most schools to gain extra funding and has very little to do with a child's ability.  As a teacher I saw a Special Needs girl in EP because dad had money and wanted her to graduate Pratom as EP qualified.

I taught classes where the Matayom  EP class continually scored lower on English tests than normal Thai classes getting the same instruction only an hour more a week.

HAHA yes Extra Pay - great spot there KK.

But do you think a Thai child learning English is best taught by farang with no Thai ability? My point is, a Thai teaching English can obviously speak both languages and can explain better in Thai, what they are requesting, in English?
An English speaking farang who does not speak Thai has only English to explain things in so if the student doesnt get it, maybe they switch off? After all, my P6 class were taught maths in both languages and some of the were better in Thai maths than English taught maths

I agree, but I could not afford an international school and we did it just as a precaution because Thailand is volatile and not always a stable country. So if we had to move out for any reason  they would have it easier to switch.

Have you looked into Micro schools? Geared at what students naturally show ability in rather than trying to teach them subjects they are never going to grasp. More to it than that of course but it might be the start of a new education system in Thailand offering choice

Everyone knows 50% on a Thai report card is, by an large, a failing score. Everyone - all teachers, all university staff, etc. Kids getting these kinds of scores end up in low rated universities where they pay money to go, or end up running (ruining?) the family business, or go on permanent holiday. You won't find any of them giving you a dental implant or an operation, suffice to say.

Yep, which is why its a waste of money and all about face ????

My youngest son only did do the English test. Both went to a very well know school in CNX and did the EP program. It did not prepare them well for the Thai entrance exam so they ended up at the most (ridiculous) expensive International Uni in BKK.  Actually no THai Uni did offer the curriculum they wanted anyway. Their English did not improve at all, it even went downhill as most people over there only speak Thai outside the class room. So if you want her to do well, the best option is to send her overseas or spend the last years on Thai. The smart asses from the EP did not pass the Doctor nor Dentist and Pharmacy entrance exam while those from the normal program did. They did an extra year THai and passed but lost a year. Ironically most of the best students (who's parents could afford it) switched to the English program when it started.

The money the parents spend on EP is a waste IMO. But as long as they are paying for their kids not to fail, I guess that fits the parents curriculum for their next dinner party where they can brag about how smart their kids are!! Like I said earlier, its all a sham, an illusion, all Thais know this yet still continue to play the game as if none of them know

I agree.  I was a teacher here.  They wanted me to teach science for a semester.  I told I didn't know much about science.  They said"no problem".  I needed a paycheck back then.

Exactly, I was teaching Maths and somehow, in Thailand, if you can teach Maths you are qualified to teach Science!!

Schools are great for interaction between young people and babysitting while parents work, but apart from that, the teaching is the same for each one of the 13 million students in Thailand (2010 figures from Ministry of Education Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation).

We constantly hear how young people are individual and have a voice yet me keep on educating them the same repetitive cr@p like algebra or what a pronoun is!! Who cares? Who looks back now as an adult and says "Thank god for algebra" or "I would be lost in life if I hadn't learned what a pronoun is". And this isn't just the Thai schools, its the world over

  12. What is the difference between a wave and a spike?

I would call this a spike in cases found positive, not a wave.

For those who call this recent increase in cases a wave, what would you call it if it was say 3 times the numbers of positive cases and a much higher death rate than the few we have seen?

Just curious as every time I see a news report from any media site whether it be a social media platform like this, or CNN, they cannot seem to help themselves and use rhetoric to make reality sound worse than it is

  13. Is it really a huge deal?

The only ones suffering are the teachers who may lose a month salary and the parents who have to find alternative care. The kids wont suffer at all. On my EP a waste of space got 1 out of 15 in both her exams yet passed with 62% when I saw her end of year results. The Thai education system is much like the rest of Thailand . . . an illusion. Nothing will change, apart from new tricks to keep the illusions believable to some!

Thing is, it's not just about what they pull out of the hat for today and announce. It's about sentiment and confidence. Where is the consistancy, strength, fairness plus longevity of law and rules so that people can be confident to invest (especially that much) and that all of a sudden a year or five down the line (or next week) the rules don't just do a total 180 on the whim of the government and there is no recourse at all?

Sorry to say, but there's a long way to go to gain that confidence in my opinion. Look no further than how so many expats have been screwed over and denied a route (even a hard one) back into the country in the last couple of years who have invested a shed load of money in the place. If you want big investment, you need to strengthen the law and make if fair, clear, unambiguous and without favour for all whilst not changing it to suit certain sections of society when it's convenient.

In a nutshell Thailand, you have to decide whether you are expat/tourist friendly or not and act accordingly, instead of this vague flip-flopping that keeps on happening to try to get the foreign money through false promises but also placate the nationalist xenophobia of the locals ... embrace or reject it.

Well said. All this does is benefit the coffers and when the idea runs dry, those who have invested will be left to rot - again!! Thailand does not care for you as a foreigner, only your wallet. If I had 300,000 baht a month to spend I would be living somewhere other than a xenophobic country
