  1. The best solution would be, as this seems to be your property, to build a second house, and move some of your relatives there permanently.

hum maybe its all a set up and the familly decided its time to have a new home too hehehehhe

some of them suggestions ! my God buy a gun set up a crime scene !!! must be a bunch of old west justice fan around .... or you guys watch too much CSI BKK !!!!!

you never know who you deeal with when thieves show up that applies to Thailand or anywhere else!! so is it really worth it to stand up to a bunch of crazed ya bah or crack heads?? that canuck dude got kill in BKK last winter over a camera nad a purse

I say get 2 or 3 dogs usually the pack effect is noisy enough to scare bums away

gee get a 4th one !!! low grade rice and left overs are cheap !!! cheaper then any alarm system or building another home

and I like Simnon 's advice on this topic I did the same thing hehehe no fancy car no big house never wear jewelry and I kept the parents at home with us right in the middle of the village but I kept the dogs just in case LOL

  2. well look at all the ecoli and other weird thing that keep breaking in in our sanitized north american food market!!!!!!

now its even in cat food ! making bigger headlines then when they found contaminated spinach!!!!

    so whats the problem??

cant live in a bubble after all so enjoy a few germs :

adds to the taste LOL and Thais usually fry the hel_l out of things anyway I never been sick from the food here so....but... Im not so sure about rotten ronnie (Mcdonald) KFC (Kentuky fuc*#$ chicken) and the likes..

    :o:D

  3. I would say that 100 % of the bar girls drink!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL

as the majority of the women in Thailand are not bar girls I would think its quite a range from casual to none

no one in my wife familly drinks neither her father or any of her sisters and in laws her brother will have a social drink when he comes to visit but I think its mostly because he thinks I expect that

funny since the only time I have anything to drink in Thailand is when he comes visit!!!!!

as for meditation I think most Thai do not meditate like they teach now in the West but many do the weekly temple thing (mostly older folks and women from what i observed in our village)

My wife and most of her relatives actually do the daily prayer session morning and evening...\not sure if that qualify as meditation of course if you in BKK, pattaya or Chiang mai its another world !!!!!! but i wouldnt know there I never spent much time in neither of them places actually never even been to pataya LOL

    :o

  4. them amulets have NOTHING to do with the teachings just another ghost story really that Thai people are so into

but I sure like the one I have LOL

I dont wear it because on any magical powers just cause I think its a cool one. I found it in my wife's father collection ; its old and Im told quite collectable has King Takshin on it riding his elephant !!!!!!!!!!!!

i got offered quite a bit of cash for it hehehe but I wouldnt sell it anyway

but thai ppl just believe in all that stuff should have seen people asking that petrified tree around Ban Tak for the winning lottery numbers!!!

    was quite entertainning :o

  5. whats really needed in the next constitution is a clause to uphold democracy !!!!

    but dream on

this rally is the most un buddhist thing i heard of in a while I bet that Big cheese monk will ride in a BMW to the rally

sad thing for sure for all other faiths in Thailand specially the decent people in the south (yeah Ive been there and most of the muslims I got to know were very nice people) forget about the thugs that use religion to excuse their fascist ways

God Has NO religion ( Gandhi)

  6. :o

Ive seen them here in Canada about this time of year actually but ..

they were expensive ( around 6$ lbs 200+baht)

and very poor quality more then half of what they had for sale would have been throw away in thailand , hard as rocks and that funny brownish color instead of purple even had a bit of an argument with the store fruit section manager her arguing they were 'fresh" ( they just were shipped!!!!) me telling her she didnt have a clue LOL

same with lychee . and lam yai always poor quality whenever Ive seen it and I know my lam yai we have 75 rais of orchards in Tak province :D

  7. In Thailand, chicken and pork are perennially undercooked and rare! Seared outside but still red and bloody inside!

    (even in "reputable" restaurants!)

We must be eating in a different land of smile if anything they overcook everything :o

I never got rare meat in any food I ever ordered .

and as the street stalls go I always make sure they do cook again them sausages or whats not just in case but since I never tried the 'farang" :D type food in Thailand I wouldnt know how the steaks , pork chops and burgers look like :D and as eating chilies goes I must be terminally ill by now LOL aftery ears of spicy from all over the place (jamaica to thailand)

pls send chilies instead of flowers !!!! :D

  8. i am gonna stay home this songkran - its ridiculous and completely out of hand. it should be to sprinkle a little water onto loved ones faces, but unfortuately it resorts to drunken idiots lobbing buckets of ice and water with powder regardless of driving or not. good luck, you will need it if you venture out.

I agree songkran is a bad time really I like Loy krathong better seems more like a real thing not just a bunch of drunks( Thais or farangs) playing infantile water games

But I guess we are to blame for the chaos that songkhran turned out to be... they put up the show for drunken farangs really :o

  10. Pakistani man gets life for murder of Thai teacher

BANGKOK: -- A Pakistani man - convicted of killing a Thai teacher whom he had met through an internet chat service and dismembering her body last year - was given a life sentence Friday.

DB: Before that (give help I guess he means) they see passport now I had been here one year taking money from money from the government of Holland I was taking money for being unemployed, I should be in Holland looking for a job, but I was here. If they see that.

    \

just a scammer if I was deutch i would send this to the embassy

double dipping at its best he even admit defrauding his country I say let him starve... but them cons usually have a nice little stash on the side

makes you wonder how much the thais do make a day doing the same maybe your next u tube video interview heheheheh

  12. I've said it before and I'll say it again:

Muslim fundamentalists will keep chipping away at the freedom of the Thai people until, one day, your avarage Thai will awake to the 5:00am call to prayer.

When will the Thai people stand up for themselves?

    Virgil, Out!

Can you please explain just how you made the leap ,from what the police are saying, to Muslim fundamentalism?

Do you know if the police chiefs are Muslim?

On what evidence do you base your remarks?

virgil you out of your mind or you really dont have a clue about thailand LOL :o

they only problem for the local phuket police is if the big boys from BKK come they gonna have to split their take!!!!!1 :D

  13. New panel slams ambulance standards

BANGKOK: -- A Public Health Ministry fact-finding committee probing corruption in connection with the purchase of 232 ambulances found that 14 specification conditions for the vehicles had been violated, chairman Dr Sant Hathirat said yesterday.

I am a medic by trade and I would say the biggest problem i observe in my many stays in Thailand is the training of the crews. Ive seen patient handling "technics" that were so wrong it was really pathetic to watch.

I am sure glad I was not the patient in them cases!!!!!!

as far as I can see you might get hurt more by the "medic"trying to help then by whatever happen to you. I am aware most of the medics are volunteers trying to earn good karma ( merrits) but equipment is just part of the solution. Since corruption will not go away in the near future I would hope proper training should be the main focus here

gee Id love to get a training contract!!!!!!!!!

email me message me phone me ANYTIME !!!!!! LOL

chock dee!!!!!! typing this on duty in northern BC Canada oil field !!!!!

    :o

  14. TAT urged to limit Phuket tourists

    "Tourists destroy the island"

PHUKET: --Methee Tanmanatrakul, managing director of Holiday Villa Phuket, said Phuket could transform itself into a centre of tourism, spreading tourists into neighbouring areas like Krabi, Phang Nga and Koh Samui.

    what a plan!!!!

disposable tourist culture :you done with one line up the next to overrun. this guy probably havent noticed Samui is already overrun and trashed out and krabi isnt far behind just the take out plastic bag culture alone has done it

I guess they havent noticed yet plastic isnt as eco friendly as banana leaves

    :o

  15. Internal Trade Department to prevent cheating at petrol stations

BANGKOK: -- The Internal Trade Department will call a meeting Wednesday with Thailand's eight leading petrol station operators - PTT, Conoco, Caltex Oil, Esso Standard, Shell, BCP, Siam United Services and Petronas - to find measures to prevent cheating at fuel pumps.

just more corruption its the same all over ... if they ever check them market folks with their rusty falling apart scales..... funny how small a kilo of pork can be at some sellers

  16. wait and see club doesnt take much to change people travel plans

one of Thailand main appeal always as been its a safe place to go

now that its all over CNN and the likes.. damage is done gee people phoning me from Canada to find out what the hel_l going on but obviously this isnt 9 11 or 3 11 for that matter will just keep the army in power , last thing this place needs really generals always make awfull political leaders as Thailand's not so far past show

I guess i saw it coming I am moving with my wife and boys back to the iceberg anyway sorry Mr general but my boys will not be yours to use

Thailand will never been the same regardless who did it

be ready to see starving tourist joint all winter

Well, it's still a low intensity violence, especially by nowadays standards...

Not enough to break the government or push the tourists away.

However, I agree, there is the "novelty" factor (attacks in Bangkok). Even thought we have had previously some grenade attacks in Bangkok, and the real-fake car bombing attempt against Thaksin.

Anyway 2 strategies are possible :

-al quaida style : hundreds of deads (Bali, Madrid etc.), massive emotion with massive media coverage

-or a long term local campain of fear, with many small attacks like tonight

Obviously, the rebels in the south work with the second (bombs and murders). And the results are there : slowly but surely, they are pushing away thais boudhists. And when the south provinces will be 100 % muslim, then... well... you know.

  17. Thailand will never been the same regardless who did it

be ready to see starving tourist joint all winter

the thai police well they couldnt catch a cold in the midle of an epidimic anyway

    Sad day for all

    :o

  18. Canadian killed in robbery

BANGKOK: -- A Canadian man was shot dead and three compatriots injured in a robbery last night in their condominium off Sukhumvit Soi 18.

The lone robber climbed into the room on 10th floor of City Smart Condominium while the four Canadians, including victim Mark Jay Keffer, 42, and a number of foreign guests were celebrating Christmas.

The robber, apparently a Thai man, asked them to hand over their valuables at gunpoint.

He started shooting when a woman guest, a relative of room owner Norzachray Nordin, a Bruneian, hit him with her handbag. Keffer and all three injured people were later sent to a hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Thong Lor police station duty inspector Pol Maj Saravuth Dejsri said he suspected the robber, who had easy access to the room from a communal area, could have been tipped off about the party by people working or residing at the condo.

    --The Nation 2006-12-26

In America anyone can own a gun as long as they are not a criminal. Aliens who establish residency by just living in a State can go out and buy a gun and anyone can buy a shotgun. Too bad we in the USA allow law abiding people to own a firearm but not here.

The woman should have come out with a shotgun and blown his head into pulp. Handbags do little against a firearm.

A very backwards country is Thailand in this regard.
