  1. I used to like Fairtex but a couple of years ago they jacked all the prices up and now they ask silly money for what you get.

Nice place but these days a rip off.

Thanks, do you know of a good alternative which offers a half decent gym and Muay Thai?

You could use Tonys in Pattay tai.

It is functional and it is cheap.

Thanks! Do they offer Muay Thai classes as well and what's the price range?

  3. Went to fairtex the other day and looked at their prices.

It says one month - all sports - 6,000 baht - at first glance not a bad deal, considering fitness first in bangkok and those branches charge around 2,000 baht a month just for the gym.

So I asked the lady if Muay Thai is included and she told me NO!

Her response was 10 hour Muay Thai 6,000 baht!

I think this can't be right. Every normal Muay Thai gym charges around 4-6,000 baht a month for muay thai training, so 600 baht a session at fairtex sounds way over the top.

Hope someone can clarify their pricing.

What does 'all sports - 6,000 baht / month' really include? Just gym, badminton and their pool?

I wanted to join it because of Muay Thai and their gym but doing Muay Thai 5 times a week is 12,000 baht / month just for Muay Thai and an extra 6,000 baht just for the gym, according to the 'friendly' lady behind the counter.

I hope it was a mistake and their pricing isn't that crazy compared to other places.

  4. Looking for a reliable and high quality car hifi place in Pattaya. Want to upgrade my current Harman / Kardon system in the BMW but don't want to drive all the way to Bangkok to have it done.

Any recommendations? Don't want to try some random shop and end up with a cable burn or something like that.

    Thanks

  5. Just happened to me the other day too. Big dent in the rim. Now waiting for BMW mobility service till monday to pick up the car and fix it.

Will have to get a rental in the meantime.

Can't even drive the car as the rim is totally bend.. kinda like an eight on a bicycle when you were a kid. Pain to say the least.

  6. Whats a decent place to rent a motorbike for a week? Not the funny rip offs where they come with a second key at night and steal the bike etc.

The above never happened to me, but I was always told never to give them the real address as it would be a common scam.

Any recommendations where to rent one of those automatic scooters for a week and what price to expect?

  7. Euro club just off Chaiyapruek 2, not sure if it is still open but i believe it is. http://www.euroclubpattaya.com/ Small but okay.

Theprasit market is at the weekend, but there is quite big daily market on Chaiyapruek 2 as well.

There is also a car wash near Collingbourne auctions on Chaiyapruek 2 but cant say how good it is.

Just so you know Chaiyapruek 2 is east of Sukhumvit, Chaiyapruek 1 runs down to the beach from Sukhumvit.

    Hope this helps a bit.

Thanks a lot Lenny! Perfect advice :)

  8. After years of living in Bangkok I am moving back to Pattaya with my entire family.

We found a nice pool villa in east pattaya which is a bit far out of the centre - which has it's up's and down's I guess.

What is decent Gym in the Chayapruek area? I know theres Tony's everywhere around town but haven't seen one in that part of town.

Would prefer some smaller family-type of joint anyway.

Is there a decent car wash on the dark side?

What days is the theprasit night market open? I remember it was twice a week or even three times but I don't recall the days.

    Thanks a lot,

    Paul
