Belgian MMA Fighter Tackles Indian Gang in Pattaya Brawl
Chris747 replied to webfact's topic in Pattaya News
An altercation like this does not happen out of the blue. Belgian Man: Would you be so kind to move your car Indiens: Take out sticks and rocks and start fighting You exactly know that there's always a buildup, posturing, verbal escalation, pre-thread cues and such. And there came the sense of superiority in play, wanting to impress his GF, maybe Alcohol (an assumption of mine) and testosteron. I am talking about the pre-fight not the fight itself. Excuse me if that was not clearly written. Of course in a fight, MMA training gives you an advantage as every other martial art training does, there i agree with you. So, how this would have been solved in self-protection (not self-defense there's a big difference - self defense is implying that you are in a self defense situation already) when you are trained in self-protection, simply you wouldn't be there, the fight wouldn't have happened because you have the situational awareness and walk away from such situations, they are simply not worth it. I am also not implying non-violence per se don't get me wrong - if you are in a code red situation you have to neutralize the threat without hesitating but the key is always awareness. It can safe your life and kids still have a father and not a dead one who was a hero in a dispute over a parking lot. -

The word "false" was probably missplaced excuse me - But i believe that Martial Arts Training especially Combat Sports like MMA where the philosophical aspect is not part of the curriculum, is boosting the ego of young men. If you read the article there was another case sometime ago with a thai muay Thai fighter, also for a parking lot. I followed a similar case back home where also a Muay Thai fighter, a young guy of 25 years got killed because he had to confront some idiots who blocked "his" parking lot. That's why is say, MMA Training, testosteron, GF nearby and most probably also alcohol it's a dangerous mix. And the Belgian was indeed very very lucky - if one or even two of the others pulled a knife on him it's game over. Most important is to get home at the end of day to your loved ones. A blocked driveway is never ever a reason to risk your life. -

MMA is not self defense. In a cage there's a certain set of rules. What his MMA training did, was probably giving him a false sense of superiority and a lot of testosteron what lead to the escalation of the situation. Let alone the fact his GF was near and he wanted to impress her. If 4 guys attack with sticks and other objects with intention there's a high chance you get seriously hurt or even die. Well trained MMA fighter or not. If they really have mafia connections he has to look out for quite some time - all that for a blocked driveway.- 93 replies

Backlash as Foreigners Give Monks a High-Speed Lift in Pattaya
Chris747 replied to Georgealbert's topic in Pattaya News
I always crack up at such bigoted scenes everywhere in the world, but Thailand just seems to have the best ones. Right now over here in Isaan, it's the talk of the town, or rather, the talk of our village: The head monk has taken in two Black novices. Most villagers, who have never seen a Black person in real life, are in a commotion. "Should I give a Black person a wai? That’s unthinkable!" 🤣🤣 -
Non-Imm-O: Marriage vs. Retirement based

Homevisits are only once on the first extension from my experience. If you move and you apply for the extension in another area/other immigration for the first time they make the homevisit again - the following years not anymore. That applied to Chiang Mai and now the same to Ubon. -
Foreigner Sparks Outrage for Doing Thai-Only Job in Phuket

Source? URL's? You know how the whole monetizing thing works don't you? In case you dont: Youtubers get a share of click price that advertisers pay. I doubt Google allows clickfraud in huge numbers. A few clicks might be fraud but that does not pay an income. You can buy Subscribers from shady providers but a) subscribers don't matter at all - it's vanity and b) black hat and you would never risk to loose the channel to get a few thousands subscribers.

How to get started with a YouTube channel as a beginner
Chris747 replied to CharlieH's topic in IT and Computers
Not a millionaire but a nice to have bonus income trough a Youtube Channel. Wifey has a cooking show channel. I also handle some channels as an admin. In my opinion the Youtube peak time, where you could really make tons of money are long gone. Short formats like Reels, TikToks and YT Shorts are taking over. You can't really make money from those. If you can't generate at least 50k views channel-wide per day for an audience coming mostly from Europe or the US it's not worth the effort. I have seen plenty of channels fail if the only motivation of creating content is money. You have to generate value for your audience and until you have a loyal amount of viewers it takes years. IG Reels are merely here to create followers and subscribers to other services (probably only fans) -
We run a SME company and we outsourced all the accounting. From my understanding an Audit checks the books every year. Our accounting company forwards our books to the audit themselves. I have 2 questions about this audit: 1) Is the audit made from government represantatives or are those private companies that work for the government? 2) Is the rate for the audit always the same? What factors are responsible for calculating the audit rate? If its done by private companies i assume there are differences in rate? thank you for some clarification

In need of advice about my Visa Situation
Chris747 replied to Chris747's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
--> never used this 60 day extension. I stay 7 years always with 1 year extension. When i left/came back always had a re-entry. I doubt you can get a 60 day extension after a 1 year extension - i might be wrong? -
I don't really know what to do and i'd appreciate some ideas or perspectives from others. I am staying on a 1 year marriage extension which is expiring on february 3rd. Out of stupidity i booked a flight to my homecountry leaving Thailand on february 14th and coming back on march 7th. Now the original plan was to extend the extension of stay this week, which gives me the visa under consideration valid from feb. 3rd to march 3rd. I was planning to make a re-entry permit. But now i am convinced that this re-entry permit would only be valid till march 3rd if i am not mistaking - i did not verify this but it would be logical. Meaning i can only get back into the country by march 3rd or earlier because by this day i need to pick up the final extension. I see 2 possibilities 1) changing return flight to march 2nd to enter the country by 3rd with the re-entry permit. Then go pick up extension of stay on the immigration 2) changing outbound flight to feb. 3rd and let my permission of stay expire. Then apply in my homecountry on the embassy for a 60 day non-im visa to enter the country on my booked return date on march 7th. With this visa stay 60 days and then go to the immigration and apply for the extension of stay for another year Is there any third option i might not considerate? Thanks alot for your ideas and time to give me some hints.

After not using HBO GO for quite a while on my Smart TV, I wanted to open it yesterday and check the available movies. It required me to login again with a QR Code that i should scan on my HBO GO Mobile App. Problem is, the HBO GO Mobile App is not available in this region (anymore?). Any workaround? thanks

Don't do it for the money. If your Mrs. has a passion and a dream it will keep her (and you) going. Don't copy another (successfull) channel, find your personality and your style. It will develop over time. Go back to the start of any channel and you will see, if they did not delete the old content, how crappy their content was in the beginning Thai audience is quite big, you don't have to make your content in English. If your Mrs is charming and knows how to sweet talk in Thai, stick to your initial idea Don't overthink it - go for it Don't fall for Coaches that promise you to grow your channel in 6 months to 100k subscribers or whatever. Don't invest money. Every good advice you can find for free on Youtube if you do a bit of research If you gain traction and exposure be prepared to read hate comments. Still 98% of the Thai audience are very polite and kind and will write positive comments, but there are a few that will get personal and they attack right there where it hurts the most.

RIP Panphet Phadungchai. It's a fact that the majority of fatalities in street fights happen because of uncontrolled falling and hitting the back of the head on the pavement. The spinning elbow from the french fighter was vicious and knocked Panphet out immediately. I wonder if the mats inside the ring are not made to prevent such head traumas?
