    Not a bacteria...its a parasite...liver fluke.

This has been known about fit decades and linked to liver cancer.

The problem is its a bit like smoking.... people know its harmful but the damage is over a long period and incremental..so there is a temptation to continue.

I wonder why the journalist who wrote this confusing article didn't think to include this important factual information.  Used to be a time when the "news" contained "information."

Nothing hurt tourism more than the operators in the tourist sector.

Thailand should not have to depend on tourism and would be better off if every foreigner went home and never came back.  This is a government failure to create a functioning independent economy and basically force their citizens to beg for scraps from foreigners who look down on them, which must be infuriating and humiliating at times.  Desperate people will fight for their livelihood.  The people here punching down at them would do the same if they were as desperate, I suspect.  Often, economic and political position privilege prevents us from having any understanding or compassion.

Reported for flaming as usual from our resident Brit Basher.

And yet his post continues, which I agree with.  It's our right and a public service, sir, to mock drunken Brits who crash stupidly, like the fat guy that got his butt kicked for trying to bitch slap a go go bouncer, forgetting the Rule of Thirteen Thai Friends.  He just pointed out that there are occasionally some drunk-ass Brits on barstools and they seem to get in some trouble in Thailand more than some others.  This is not racism, because you can't be racist against Brits;  they just nod along with you, being self-aware, good-humored sports by and large.  ????

I feel sorry for you if you think there is any justification in the thai practice of mass attacking elderly men and women, kicking and stomping on their heads with impunity as long as they are foreigners. It really sickens me at the "they must have done something wrong attitude". Sick and sad people. Again a slap is a reaction not aggression (something happened right before that slap, something you never saw and my guess is "spat on").

I'm not justifying their actions, I'm calling the old man a damned fool and saying he started it.  Based on the available evidence, he swung first.  I'm not surprised that go-go bouncers in a town full of drunking hooligans had a violent reaction to what you minimize as a mere "slap."    I'm not say that "he must have done something wrong," i'm saying he does something wrong right on video.  No matter what they said to him, it's not OK for him to "slap" them. By the way, have you ever been slapped open handed to the side of your head by a man twice your size?  This can cause deafness, brain damage, etc.  Do you care about that?  Nope, just defend the violent rowdy drunk.

You say " It really sickens me at the "they must have done something wrong attitude".  But you defend this guy attacking them based on "a slap is a reaction."  Which is exactly the same argument.  They must have done something wrong to provoke him, so he slapped them.  Escalating to violence was his choice.  He paid the price is how it looks to me, as hooligans tend to do.

I don't have the full story, but at least I'm going by the evidence presented.

Further, what specific activities will revenues come from?

This is money in the pockets of the ultra-wealthy, in expensive deals with foreign governments involving kickbacks and bribes, one can assume.  It has nothing to do with improving the lives of Thai people.  That went out of style when half-shirts and dog-leash girlfriends came in.

OK first, you can't find one in advance if you're so worried about it?

And second, if he's a lawbreaking fugitive, why the kid gloves?

Thanks to all the Limas who took care of business.  Those folks need to respect Thais in this country.  If they are not interested, polite decline and continue walking.  Insulting Thais will not end well for you. Remember, you are a guest in this country.  They will remind you quickly if you forget that.

    Not Guilty!

Absolutely, without any other information, I'm guessing this was HIGHLY provoked.  I don't fear for my safety when I pass ladyboys personally.

The Pheu Thai party will try to have its prime ministerial candidate approved by parliament at a joint sitting of the House and Senate on July 27th, s click here.

Protests were scheduled today in Bangkok but were canceled due to rain.  People are pissed about all of this.  It's not going well;  I'm not sure this military coup is going to be the same as last time... but it's for sure coming, you know it is.  They are decertifying all the senators that voted for Pita, which is infuriating a lot of people, not just the orange shirts!   Be safe everyone; we're going to see tanks in the streets soon.

Central Restaurants Group (CRG) President, Nath Vongpanich, asserted that while politics doesn’t primarily dictate the growth of their restaurant and beverage venture, an expedient installation of a fresh prime minister for efficient national administration is something he contends for.

This focus on stability and efficiency over human values, overriding elections, and forming the alliance of business with a military government is called "fascism."

The best outcome for Future Forward (and Thailand) is for them to move to the opposition benches and let Pheu Thai reveal their true colours by joining with junta lackeys such as Anutin and the Democrats.

FF will utterly destroy all these clowns in the next election and will be able to reform Thailand unhindered.

Rome wasn’t built in a day.

Sounds like the kind of wishful thinking of progressives in the US.  "Just keep voting, it will all be fine."  Nope, electoral politics sadly depends on politicians to keep their word.  No, the answer unfortunately is mass civil "disobedience", it's the only message governments understand.  Elections are plainly rigged.  Only a fool believes that a politician is there to help.  Put on a mask and join a protest.  It's all you've got if you are poor.

it was obvious from the very beginning that Move Forward leader Pita Limjaroenrat was not willing to modify his party’s stand on modifying the lèse majesté law, despite heavy lobbying by its political partners.

How is this "devil may care?"  it sounds to me like someone standing by a principle.  To be fair, he is a politician, so the idea that he is acting on principle is probably wrong, but... it does look like it at first glance.
