  1. Selling my 2015 matte black CBR 650f, nearly 4000km on the clock, servicing and warranty with Honda Big Wing Rama 3, simple modifications include Devil Evolution full d5c carbon race exhaust and tail tidy. I have the original parts for the buyer to keep. Oil changes with fully synthetic Honda HP4. The bike is kept under cover and rode in fair weather (once during rain). Reluctantly selling but priced for quick sell as I am due to relocate overseas.

  2. Aren't there millions of tons of rice in warehouses from the rice pledging thingamejig

11 M tons and the current price is at the pledged price. Don't think the government will thank the previous government for the unexpected windfall.

Ironic, so the ultimately the pledging scheme has the potential to turn out good !

  3. Goodbye fast an efficient lines ... Hello 30 minutes to buy a liter of water.

And hello insane interest rates for the people least able to afford them.

The 2% - 3% Visa charges will now be passed along as higher prices.

    Why?

Because what has worked perfectly for decades needs to be "improved" so a gigantic Foreigner company can get a percentage of sales.

Borrowing money should be for items one most can not readily afford in one lump sum, a car, a house, a boat. Not a candy bar.

You don't know what you're talking about. I use a credit card even for a $6 meal at McDonald's in the U.S. It is way faster than dealing with cash. Customers swipe their own cards. Plus, we get benefits such as miles or cash back. The only trick is to use them as cash--i.e., pay them off every month. That's not very hard if you're a sensible adult.

Same in the UK. I carry very little cash and, like most people, pay for everything I can on a cc. or debit card except if less than £1 or in the local market. It is so much more convenient and I get 1% or .5% cashback and its paid off by direct debit every month. I already always pay at Thai Tesco and Big CC with one of my fee free UK CCards. This means I bypass all international money transfer fees and/or the rip-off 200thb ATM charge when withdrawing cash to spend. It will be great when they offer 'cashback' on your debit card at the checkout as they do in the UK which comes straight out of your bank account. Then all exchange/transfer fees on day to day spending will be avoided.

I bet 7/11 will soon have chip and pin machines mounted in front of the tills like the machines they have to top up your mobile phone where u enter your mobile # instead of faffing about entering #s from a scratch card.

The Thai convention of piling your change and receipts into your hand also drives me crazy as u have your shopping in your other hand so its really awkward to check and sort it out. Coins often fall off too. In the UK change mostly gets put on the counter or onto a special tray built into the counter.

I thought it was just me that hates this!

  4. Since this has turned from a debate about credit and easy money, to one of technology - OK then.

And Wwilst some are quick to label others 'Luddites', I would say to you that you are grossly mistaken, I love technology! You could almost call it a hobby of mine,

Here is something you may wish to ponder.

Recently the USN re-introduced Celestial Navigation into their Naval Academy New Entry Officers Course (last year). They ditched the practice years back, because it was made redundant by modern technology. Advanced Sat Nav & GPS replaced it. Makes sense? yes?

Then some bright spark, probably a 'dinosaur' like myself had a brain snap and realised that when their enemy takes out their hi tech electronic 'systems' they won't have a clue where they are, where to go and what course to steer to get there,

That ancient instrument, the Sextant, has made a triumphant return!

I'm 99.9% certain that the plan isn't to withdraw the option of cash payment whistling.gif

  5. Will old mate go to spend time in the morgue?

will old mate lose his public licence for ever?

will old mate face all the many charges that

    are relevant to this arrest?

will old mates car be impounded?

Will old mate pay a fine, be back behind the wheel very shortly?

I tried to zoom in on the taxi number on the rear door but it distorts on my lap top,

I am sure some one will be able to read the number, once passed around and known,

boycotting that taxi number may help a little , to get the message home that this behavior

    is unacceptable ,

how lucky for him that running the red light did not cause an accident with his impaired

    vision and reaction time.

I hope his fellow taxi drivers also shun him with shame.

He probably just rented the taxi anyway.... Do you honestly expect people to memorise the number plate, walk to the back of every taxi they take and check the number plate before getting in!! Maybe you had too much coffee this morning!coffee1.gif

LOL 15 Thaivisa farrangs boycott Thonburi taxi driver! ........ again LOL

15 farangs who pay and tip can easily turn into substantial amount of lost money,

( when 15 as your number ) walk away from the cab even if it happened over a period, losing a fare

is bread and butter , but may be that is lost on you.

Interesting. I like your theory, but 10000 Thaivisa farrang could boycott his taxi. Will not make any real world difference to the little local Thonburi taxi driver. I'll just take your comment as quasi-serious clap2.gif

  7. You are right, I don't do it anymore.

    But,

I don't regret that I did it as I did it safely and lived more. I can honestly say I was a much safer driver after a few beers because I concentrated more and drove slower, always indicated, always drove on the quietest back roads etc, did nothing to give police reason to pull me over. Maybe lives were saved because of this.

I believe I can drive unaffected at about double the limit. It is very low .05.

The limit is too low for me personally IMO but maybe right for some people. The law has to be the same for everyone.

Heaps of people, Thai and farang do it everyday in Pattaya. I had an American mate who was in his eighties, with one working eye who drunk drove just about every afternoon. Thinking of him, and others like him put me off riding a push bike in Pattaya. He never had an accident, and did really enjoy the last few years of his life.

I am out on it tomorrow arvo and evening, some people think it is strange I now arrive in a taxi (I don't like motorbike taxis, to me they are more dangerous than driving myself).

I reckon most afternoon dark side drinkers drive/ride. Many are old with not the best site. They all do seem to manage though.

I don't know how much more I can say, but I'm glad you don't do it anymore.

This must be a troll post haha

You see, dumbarse, the problem with drink driving is that you THINK you are driving well. No matter how hard you are concentrating, your performance is not so good. You've obviously just proven this.

    Reqards,

  8. He is a policeman, not a member of the public, he should be the first person to NOT drive on a bridge. probably the same guy that would take money off you and into his own back pocket if he caught you doing it (making assumptions based on the other available info).

    Shouldn't be de-badged??

By all means lock him up and de badge him if caught taking bribes, which is a deliberate act.

IMO though he shouldn't be de badged and banged up for an accident, especially in Thailand where the general population has a very laid back attitude to obeying traffic rules.

They're not laid back about it when they fine me/request my money.

How can they make these stupid rules that motorcycles cannot go over bridges and underpasses, and expect people to obey the law and take the law enforcers seriously, when a cop doesn't even obey, and even worse he is probably drunk, carrying a gun off duty and gets his girlfriend killed.

So you think he should be free to walk away and resume duty? This would probably be a manslaughter case in lots of countries if he was proven drunk.

When they are out looking for cash, they are not so laid back. But it is fairly normal here to see a cop with people driving all around him not do anything about people not wearing helmets etc.

When they ask me for cash I always ask them for a receipt AFTER I have handed it over. It never goes down well, but is good for a laugh. One copper told me he would give me one, but it would cost an extra hundred baht. I told him not to bother.

You have assumed he was drunk. And yes, if he was drunk in some countries he would be jailed for manslaughter even if the accident wasn't his fault.

A bit of a rough law that one, you go to jail because of someone else's mistake just because you have had a few beers. The drink driver always gets blamed whether he was at fault or not.

I'm not saying he should be given the death penalty, but how can people argue he shouldn't lose his badge?

    No argument there whatsoever.

  9. Losing a girlfriend is tragic, seeing her killed even more so. He will be going through hell. The grief will probably stay with him forever.

EVERYONE breaks laws, especially traffic laws. In Thailand and in every other country. I do it often, speed (when safe), forget to wear my seatbelt, sometimes am too lazy to put on a helmet for short trips. I used to drink drive, but taxis are so cheap and plentiful in Pattaya I have changed that habit.

He didn't intend to kill his girlfriend. No need to de badge him or bang him up for riding a motorbike on a bridge that allowed this anyway up until recently.

    A tragic ACCIDENT.

  10. Most of what I think has already been said. However, what surprises me is that other officers should feel ashamed because it is suggestive that they all like this. If this officer was on duty and went over the bridge in pursuit then one could understand but just to blatantly disregard well known laws really has no excuse. Other similar ranked officers should demand his dismissal and prosecution. Yeah, I know, unlikely.

    Completely agree to this.

  11. The guy just lost his girlfriend and maybe saw when a truck rolled over her body. And there are people who talk about alcohol, speeding and other nonsense?

How do you live with such a tragic accident? And does it turn you on when you write something bad about a guy who's already fragged?

Sorry, but I don't see your logic. I have not one iota of sympathy for this cop. He was riding illegally over this dangerous bridge (because he's a cop and thinks he can do anything), he was very likely inebriated and killed his girlfriend as a result. Any sympathy should be directed at truck driver and girls family and friends. The cop should be de-badged, convicted and banged up.
