  1. Why would you assume this is off the books? Workshop time is workshop time. You will get charged for it.

On occasion i buy the parts staff some custard tarts from KFC?

I'd assume it's off the books as i'm paying him with 'money for drinks' while they perform my 'free' service.

Obviously if I go to collect the bike and it's on the books then I'll literaly buy then a change each haha

  2. Hi all,

the guys at the local bike dealership are fitting my new exhaust, tail tidy etc while my bikes in for first service. They obviously do it off the books as I didn't buy the parts there. I said I'd buy the sales guy and the mechanic a few 'drinks' for doing it as they've both been more than helpful.

Don't want to be tight but also don't want to look like mr moneybags farrang throwing Bahts around.

What are your opinions on a reasonable gift for them?

  3. Makes me chuckle.

    To answer your questions johnnies;

Yes you can pay 20k and 60k on finance. You may need a min term of a year, not 6 months, however you can pay off early. You may also need a Thai counter signer for the finance documents.

You'd need to check interest rates, it's generally lower with larger deposit.

When you say BS, I presume you mean being the only person to actually attempt to answer the posters questions?

As per say, giving your opinions on finance (which the other posters are quite entitled to do), followed by arguing with me because I propose a different point of view?

I agree maybe I shouldn't have said 'dummies' or 'makes me chuckle' so apologies to whoever is easily offended by my outrageous use of language.

PS Your simple answer is to a simple question that nobody ever asked ...... Unless the OP is a five year old, I'm sure he understands about credit/finance related risk (the type of people who invest in gold do).

  4. 1. You wouldn't make a great financial advisor.

    2. You you shouldn't give financial advise without background info on the person/client.

How do you know If gambling on investments is best for me or best for the original poster?

How do you know I if I do/do not need money securely in my bank account for other reasons?

Investments, saving and credit are all something you should consider financially. 101 stuff.

  6. Recently bought with 30% of cost on credit.

Could'a paid up in cash but fancied keeping the other 100'000k in my sprocket. Paying 3'700 (3.7% for the mathematically disinclined) baht in interest over a year isn't an issue, it's the cost of half a decent night out somewhere on a Friday.

If you pay a 30%+ deposit and you'll get a low rate at the dealership, they usually use Krunsri Auto or K-Bank Loans, something like this.

Some of the forum dummies don;t understand that people also use credit services for money management....... Not becasue they can't afford to buy outright.

  7. Hi party people,

I'm waiting on my number plate to be beans and livered (delivered). What are the laws in respect to the small tubular holdals I see, carrying what I presume to insurance documents?

Do these need to be visable at all times, can I keep in my underseat carry space etc??

  8. When I say hard break in I guess it's more semi hard, I've just been making sure I use full rev range and the occasional couple of fast starts. For the first 200 km I was pretty gentle and kept it under 5000 revs but read all kinds of contradicting info on the matter.. I evdentually resorted to the owners manual which makes no mention of keeping within certain rev ranges and more or less says no hard acceleration and no heavy engine braking.

I used to change oil in may cars very regularly (500 miles) so I'll make an early change now replacing with 10w30 mineral as it won't do any harm.

This is my first bike so trial and error for me at this stage wink.png

I went for the matte black, how about yourself?

Alfredo, you can buy a new CBR for less than a used Ducati, new bike, less problems wink.png

great bike. best value bike in Thailand.

but if one can live with the looks!

I wonder who will go first? Honda designers or managers/directors that assigned these guys and approved their design?

    cb650f looks better somehow!

    Yeah, great value machine.

I must question the brand of eyewear you use though? I don't know many people that think it's an ugly bike. Ting Tong! blink.png

  9. Looks good, I was torn on which colour to purchase btu went with black. I also bought the seat cowel, looks much better and well worth the 3000 Baht.

How long have you been waiting on your number plate for?

  11. Glad you're enjoying the bike. I Bought mine last weekend and have just put 260km on the clock. I'm going for the hard break-in though. I've taken it up to 10/11k through 1-4 gears, haven't managed to get near that in 5th or 6th though.

You're right the turnng cicle isn't great however I can live with that, this bike loves to be riden fast, I think it pulls pretty well on anything over 3000 rpm to be honest.

    I'm loving mine so far.

You've done an oil change already?

  12. Hi guys sorry to hash up an old thread but I've just bought a new big bike. All the threads I read are full of peoples opinions on fuel so I want cold hard facts!

The guy in the showroom told me 95 fuel. I've recently filled up with Shell V Power 95, is safe to assume this is gasahol 95?

For a new 2015 bike what are the diffeences between 95 benzine (which I understand is slowly being fazed out in LOS) and 95 gasohol?

Seems that gasohol will run the engine cleaner, slightly better fuel efficiency?

Benzine 95 (pure gasoline) will dirty the engine if thewre are no additives however power will be marginally higher and fuel efficiency will be reduced?

Gasohol 91 is a lower grade fuel than 95? I'm a little confused about the percentage of ethanol/alcohol and whether the higher percentage is a good or bad thing?

    Thanks for your help brothers.

  13. I'm not sure that would work?

The only opportunity for a countersign is for a Thai citizen to act as guarantor for the finance.

If the bike is financed in the Thai persons name then the foreigner (particularly no citizenship or work permit) is unable to sign as they would effectively be guaranteeing the Thai person.... Who doesn't need the guarantor.....

I signed a finance agreement yesterday. They were pretty strict on all documentation other than the fact that the Thai shop staff volunteered their name to be my guarantor ...
