Tens therapy can be effective for many but results vary.
I used it about 30 years ago while recovering from a serious lower back soft-tissue injury. It did help though the effectiveness diminished over-time.
What worked best for me was using the Tens to relieve symptoms combined with massage (3-4 hours per week) with yoga stretching and slowly increasing physical activity. If I had a flareup of symptoms, I reduced exercise etc and rested to get back to a manageable pain level.
After 2-3 years I was about 90% & stable, including 6 months of learning to walk again.
Given the current cost, Tens is an excellent idea though I would recommend using it with other therapies such as stretching & yoga to help resolve your condition.
Cheers. T

Sorry for the delay, I had to research a bit.
If you can afford private care I recommend
https://www.medparkhospital.com/en-US/doctors/prof-dr-roongroj-bhidayasiri
If not, then come to the specialized clinic at Chulalongkorn Hospital
https://chulalongkornhospital.go.th/kcmh/en/ec/ศูนย์ความเป็นเลิศทางก-13/
tel. 08-1107-9999 or 0-2256-4000 ext. 70704.
This will take more visits and entail long waits but cost less.
Thank you Sheryl, your efforts are greatly appreciated.
It is encouraging to see Thailand advancing in the treatment of Movement Disorders.

While the news article is unremarkable and repetitive in nature, what interests me is yet another picture of a low-intensity yet active fire line with no apparent suppression efforts.
Not sure how you can control an active fire zone without appropriate suppression tactics.
Wildland fires in Thailand and other similar zones are rarely of high intensity unlike wildland fires in North America, Australia and similar. Most fires in Thailand could be easily controlled by establishing a basic control line and actively suppressing local hot spots.
The most noxious smoke comes from the slowly burning fires that emit massive amounts of unburnt products of combustion.
Allowing the localized smoldering fires to persist over days and weeks seems to be a contributing factor to the overall pollution problem.
This perplexes me and going beyond the cultural aspects….. Why??? lack of manpower, training or the will to overcome… I do not know.

I want to buy a bike for exercise, (not a stationary machine type and not off road).
I'm looking for reasonable quality at a sensible price, I'm in Mae Rim.
Where do I go? (Probably not interested in Tesco/Big C etc)
TIA
I have had good experience with Jacky Bike and Anek Bikes ( Trek MTB service). Both shops are outside the old city.
Both are professional shops and offer a wide range of bikes and services.
Look into a Gravel Bike …. Capable for pavement, gravel & dirt roads with a more comfortable frame configuration and wider tires than a pure road bike.
This is very popular now and there are also many riding groups or activities in the CM area if you are interested.

Many late model phones support 5-8
eSims.
My current phone has a single physical SIM and 2 eSims.
I cannot comment on a phone with 3 Sim slots, though 2 slots is common.

Yes you do,just take your ownership papers and go to your local Tessabahn.
Yes visit the Tessabahn or Or Bor Tor dependent on location.
They also might want to see printed pictures of the house & land with the Chanote number on the prints.
My land and the house I own there consists of 2 equal parcels totaling 3.5 rai.
The parcel with house is considered developed land and no tax was due this year.
The second parcel has been developed as an agriculture area with many plants and an outbuilding with no tax due this year.
The land tax office was very easy to work with and hopefully future years will be the same.
cheers!

I live alone in Nong Bua Lamphu province with 3.5 rai of garden and pay 500thb per day for 2 workers 4-6 days a month each. I provide water plus bananas and other products from the garden. They bring their lunch.
I have lawnmower, trimmers, chainsaw and many western style tools. They do the basic periodic jobs and projects as directed.
Same program for about 2 years and for now, everybody is happy. 👍👍

Never had it and I don't miss it. Not a big of fan of linking my credit or debit cards to third parties. Also, had some bad experiences at the True Store at Maya Mall in CNX. I just pay cash at the True machine or pay with the Bangkok Bank debit card.
TrueWallet does not require any card links, I TopUp mine via a banking app.
Digital wallets are safer to use than a physical debit or credit card though not as safe as Virtual bank cards. In the end, it is up to the individual to decide what is best. 👍👍👍

Without getting into replacing the entire system with a modern septic tank I would offer the following.
It is very possible to install a leech system here but will take a little extra work.
In Thailand, I have successfully installed both septic system leech fields and French drains for run-off water.
1. Research leech system design online and in English
2. Research Gray Water recycling in the USA. If done properly, many systems are now fully approved.
Use a combination of the above research and local conditions to design a safe, and effective system.
3. Perforated pipe is generally not available in Thailand…I make my own by using an angle grinder to cut slots in the solid pipe.
This is faster and easier than using a drill.4. Drainage gravel should be 3/4” or larger with no fines. It should also have a layer of geo-textile cloth surrounding the gravel and pipe to prevent soil intrusion which reduces the air in the drainage system and thus reduces drainage and the aerobic bacterial action required to treat the leech water.
5. A leech field can be located far away from the septic tank as long as the water can freely move within the pipe.
There is more, but do some research and reply back after you get a basic design.

I have never used a tour group in CNX but sometimes join local group gravel bike & mountain bike rides.
Gravel bike routes use both modified road bikes and mountain bike with many routes available that do not require man highway riding. Routes are available for all ages and skill levels.
These routes are more scenic, relaxed and safer 😊.
The North has a very active biking community with some tours available through bicycle shops and tour groups.
Enjoy

What's the point in knowing even further ahead that you're going to die? Useless unless there is a cure.
In regards to PD, knowing the beast can be an important step in the reduction of severity of symptoms.
Currently there are over 200 distinct symptoms that can be presented by PD patients.
Knowledge and attitude can have a significant difference in the PD patients quality of life. ????

With all the money Michael J Fox, M Ali etc have raised, I wondered if we/they would see a breakthrough in Parkinsons in my/his lifetime. Seems we will! Good luck to you MJ Fox!!

MJF has done a great job in both advocating for PD patients and research. Much has been accomplished in understanding the disease but effective treatment continues to elude the medical community.
Your sentiments are correct and hopefully a treatment in on the horizon…????

Years ago, I remember reading about a cancer diagnosis breakthrough that led to longer survival. Later studies showed that people died just as fast, they just knew about it longer. And the average treatment cost went from $10,000 to well over $250,000, simply because they were being treated for years instead of months. And that was decades ago, when healthcare was almost affordable.
I hope this is meaningful for Parkinson's patients. But I'm skeptical.
Unlike other diseases, the symptoms of Parkinson’s Disease is widely variable among patients.
The onset of Pain is one of the symptoms not often discussed in traditional medicine but can be one of the more debilitating symptoms.
Additionally, some may be diagnosed and deteriorate quickly, while others can lead a long productive life while managing the daily fluctuations of symptoms.
Lifestyle choices and attitude can often help the afflicted with some dramatically slowing the progression of PD.
Personally, I was diagnosed with Young Onset Parkinson’s Disease at age 43, with doctors recommending I get Deep Brain Stimulation surgery within 2 years of my Dx. I rejected this and decided on a more holistic approach.
After, making significant changes to my lifestyle, I have been able to push back the symptoms and lead a slower but normal life. Admittedly, it may get me in the end but hopefully not anytime soon.
For me, I would have appreciated having a diagnostic tool to assist me as I had symptoms 10 years prior to my diagnoses that could of helped my condition greatly.
Knowing the Beast is a major step in adaptation of life and treatment.
cheers

How dry is Isaan? I had to move away from Colorado because it was so bone dry. It made me constantly have to clear my throat. I missed trees and green a lot. Water shortages scare me to death if that makes a difference.
It is a large area with different geographical influences though not as extreme as Colorado.
Where I live, I have many large trees, banana plants and more water than I need in rainy season. It does get hot and dry February to June but it is ok.
Some areas such as Buriram, Surin are much drier and barren from what I have experienced.
Before I moved to Thailand I was living in the Colorado high country.
Where are you from in Colorado?

Check out Loei (and ChiangKhan) and NongBua Lamphu, they are on the way from Chiang-Rai to Udon Thani, and personally I like them more than Udon...
I agree, I live alone in Nong Bua Lamphu province on 3.5 rai of gardens with a Baan Suan style home that I own.
I enjoy this lifestyle, it is close to the provincial cities for shopping etc. and airport access.
Maybe not the best way to start but an option after getting acclimated to Thailand.

Ubon didn't look great to me in videos so that one not being mentioned much here either makes it easier to eliminate from my list. Udon will be my first go to and I will check Nong Khai since it is so close and sounds nice. I only have 2 weeks on my upcoming trip and Chiang Mai will also be checked out. Out of Kohn Kaen, Korat, and Buriram, which would you say is the most English friendly? I want one more on my list to check out.
From my experience, it would be Khon Kaen.
Given your time available, I would recommend flying into KK, and from there travel onward to Udon and Nong Khai. From Udon you can then fly direct to Chiang Mai.
Of course you can do the opposite, flying from CM to Udon.

I'm hoping to find a long term relationship. Pattaya feels like a bad choice for this, especially with the high concentration of other farangs as competition as well as the reputation that may come along with being a farang there. Chiang Mai looks great to me as well. Pretty much all I care about in a city is good food with access to good healthcare and the ability to speak to the Thais there to make some homies. Growing up rural I think is what has attracted me to Isaan girls. I like country girls in general.
I would recommend that upon arrival you take sometime and visit the areas you are most interested in.
CM is a great location, and there are also many nice Isaan ladies living and working there, but they do tend to be more Urbanized than most country girls.
Take your time, look around a bit and hopefully the answer will show itself.
Generally speaking, finding Thai homies in Isaan will be more difficult than CM with the Northern people a bit more open to others, and language often being a barrier in Isaan. I have a few Isaan men I consider friends but it took time to develop these friendships.
As others have mentioned, take some time to learn a bit of Thai language before you arrive, it will serve you well.
I would recommend your find a location that meets your requirements and supports your interests… then add a relationship. ????
