  1. The First-time car buyer rebate scheme was certainly responsible for putting a lot of cars on the roads, increasing pollution and causing more traffic jams.

And accidents and the death toll

Sent from my i-mobile IQ XA using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app

    NOT SO.

You are expressing your opinion not facts or statistics.

In the ER hospitals 75% of fatalities and/or injuries are the result of traffic accidents involving motorcycles, not cars.

That has been the norm for years. Also my experience from 2009-2013 during my tenure in Srivichai hospitals.

Yes we all know that the majority of road deaths are motorbike riders - they're the ones who end up on the meatwagon. That does not mean it was not a car that put them there!!!!

  2. You would expect that an airport in a fookin warzone would already be high alert anyway. This sounds to me like a test, the intruder seemingly had no intention of not getting caught. He refused to move; had he moved from the seat to a vacant one he probably would have remained on the flight. There is no mention of his baggage ..... did he have any? What was in it? If he was released after questioning, he is Thai. Any form of a foreigner and he would still be banged up. So why was he pretending he didn't understand Thai? I reckon it was a stunt to highlight the <deleted> security .....

  3. Staggering number, 2131 cubic meters per person per year. A cubic meter is 1000L, that is a 1 x 1 x 1m cube of water. 2.1 million litres per year. I would have thought my own consumption to be less than a quarter of this but as the stat includes so much non-personal use, in the agri and industrial sectors, it seems impossible to improve this number by making changes at home.

  4. Well one does have to question the citeria for these awards, because they must certainly not include aesthetic and natural beauty, water quality and 'close to natural condition'. That Patong beach is mentioned puts the whole award system into disrepute. I have lived in Patong for 12 years, and the beach is filth. Swimmers give way to power-toys (or die), joggers are pestered by jetski beachboys, the water is FULL of plastic (true of all Phuket beaches), and the south end is basically a sewer.

Having said all that, it is very entertaining place to spend the day, there is so much going on. Katoeys playing volleyball, parasailers moving sunbathers away at their command, drinking sessions, hookers on the job, families, kids, steroid heads showing off and since the Russian invasion plenty of paleskinned eye candy.

    Something for everyone, eh?
