My agent for the yearly retirement visa no longer does these, so I'm looking elsewhere. Any suggestions?  (The retirement extension that is supported by the company.) Thanks. 

Thought I'd better ask if the Lao border from Udon Thani is open. I need a 30 day visa stamp in my US passport. This is the first stamp I've had this trip.  Thanks.

And I have a visa company to deal with the retirement visa but they need 20 days min. left on the stamp (as Im sure you know). 

Sorry; that bus trip to Mesai was real exhausting. I entered Thailand by air from abroad as a visa exampt then (as i said) got that extended at Immigration.  the stamp expires Dec. 4.  I think I'l fly to Udon thani, get a stamp & back to Ch Mai.  I have a deadline to meet as well.  I'll go  in a day or 2.

Where should  I go now to get a stamp?  I'm getting a yearly retirement visa but need a stamp first (my extension stamp ends Dec. 4.)  I have the original entry stamp by plane and one extension from Immigration.  Thanks.

sorry!  I don't have a visa and am a US citizen.

The govt. site I used didn't say, so I'd appreciate your answers.  What I've used pre-covid: onward ticket, passport.

I had to get a new visa - cross a border - then things were fine. (it's been a few months).

I did mean Vientiane.  I'm not well yet, operating on a low frequency.  Not being well yet is why I want to fly.  I think it's just the cumulative heat & bad air.

I leave on July 2, but the current visa is up on May 8.  I got sick, so time is close.  I am doing a border bounce to vtn.  Will that work until July 3 (can I get an extension on the border bounce stamp?) 

I remembered why I'd lived in Nepal for so many years & decided to return for a visit.  Has anybody been there lately?  Thanks

I thought this was somewhere that people speak openly.  FYI, homeless encampments are loud & dirty, & I've lived here for years. This isn't a heartless reaction & not an uncommon one (do you get around in other countries/read?) I've had it with you closed-minded folks.  Enjoy the party.

Back to the topic.  I asked if anybody had seen lean-tos like I'd described.  Somehow that became an attack against daring to say 'homeless'.  BTW, who are people, you think, who don't look like they ever bathe or change clothes and sleep in vacant store fronts.  Maybe they're casually waiting for customers?

The one in the park is built of plastic sheets but also has a microwave & tables & now is used as a party shack w occasional sleepers. The other one might be somebody owns it. House is entirely plastic & garbage & a guy definitely lives there. as for the CMU area behind the zoo etc. I used to go by there & it's out of the way for many. Why does that make me unobservant? & somebody just went by there (pls read the posts)

I lived in a different country for 10 yrs before a coup then takeover & the results were bad for locals & disastrous for the expat community.  For me as an expat,  life in Thailand is ok at its present level. Do you think this will change a lot?  (guns, rolls of barbed wire,  more expat arrests)

Hard to believe...But then again, last time I saw Denver the population seemed to all be homeless.

Is any part of CM free of encampments?  (Sorry to sound calloused/heartless.) They really are loud.  I get up at 5 am to write then publish...and they're screaming & throwing things at 2:30. My nice, cheap place looks straight into theirs.

One is in a park; it's quite a tourist attraction. The squatters keep adding on to it. Now there's a microwave, table & chairs. They throw drunken parties until 2-3 am. A local hotel owns the property.

The other is on the main road. The house is entirely of plastic & old signs (like in the US). Leanto is surrounded by a motorcycle, bicycle, piles of clothes &  1/8 acre of weeds. Old buckets, you name it.  But maybe CM's become Westernized that way... Is your part of town different?  Thanks.

It was strongly suggested that I simply ask the name of a visa agent who does Yearly retirement visas.  I had one in 2020 and left Thailand for medical reasons. I'll have to start over & hope to find a different visa agent. Please note this is a 'yearly' retirement visa.  Thanks!

People seem to keep those names to themselves, though.

There were many things that the agent left for me to do, they wanted 22 days left on my entry stamp & like Mike said, I ran out of time so need to do a border bounce.  Hope that makes sense, though pls note that some other folks read what I'd posted & they gave me great advice.
