In Chiang Khong maybe that was why the green bus didn't have a same day return. I don't think Lao has that rule yet. I still have some hopes that I can go somewhere & come home the same day. (Remember Mai Sai?) Thanks for the feedback!

I need a new stamp from across a border close to Chiang Mai. (I plan to leave Thailand in 1-2 months.) I am a US citizen with a normal passport. Is Savannahkhet a good choice? I'd rather not stay overnight.

A land crossing is what kind of stamp & getting a consular visa is what kind of stamp? Flying in gets a stamp at the airport? Anything else? (I'm trying to determine how to cross into another country.) I think I'd count from Jan. 1 2024 onward, but after that I don't understand. Hope this is clear enough. I'm a US citizen.

Fly into Vientiane or Udon to get the 30 day stamp? Thanks.

Dr Jack: Yes, that is the extension at immigration that will expire end of May. I wish to stay in Thailand until the waiting list clears for my apt. back home.

My first visa from a Thai consul (Vientiane) expires end of May. May I get another one there or at a different Thai consul? I'm a US citizen. Thanks

Seems X model 2 not really sold here in TH. Model 4 available, in 2 flavors, beside the compact version, already mentioned.
Now to deal with Lazada. Thanks very much. I am prepared.

I have been quite happy with my Xiaomi Air Purifier Model 2. I paid about 1,800 THB.
An important consideration is filter replacement, and I have had no troubles for years getting Xiaomi filters.
They have cheaper models, but not sure of coverage:

where did you buy the model 2 you mentioned? Thank you Cube

almost any air purifier under 1000b on lazada will do. It's not a complicated tech.
BTW, what happened to the old one?
When I left I gave it away. (nobody would buy it)

Hi, Hope you can help. Last time I was here for burning season I paid about 3,000 B. This year I can't pay that much. But I am hacking, coughing and sneezing. ( I finally went tio the doc.) Any ideas about where to buy an inexpensive air purifier? Thanks

Does this mean I can to across a border for a stamp on Jan. 1? Or does it have to be in December? Thanks.

I'm out of land crossings for 2023 but need one more stamp; my Thai visa expires Jan 1 2024. (The immigration police at Vientiane crossing reminded me before sending me back to Lao.) Is there an airport in Chiang Khong?
Thanks.

This morning at 09:30 made a Border Bounce at Chiang Khong.
It went fast very very fast - Over and Back in 35 minutes.
Plenty of Free parking on the left as soon as you enter the border area.
25 Baht for the One Way Bus ticket over to Laos side.
Bus was waiting and took off soon after boarding.
No queues at the Laos Visa on Arrival office.
Two forms to fill out an Arrival Card plus a 2nd Visa on Arrival form ( plus the usual form which I had pre-downloaded and filled out, the one with with your 1 x photo on )
The Laos officer asked my "how long you stay" I replied 10 minutes in Laos - he returned passport and pointed to the bus and said ""Buy Ticket"
Again the bus left very promptly.
No issues on arrival at Thai Immigration.
Stamped with another 30 day Thai stay.
Thanks to those that assisted my questions earlier about the $US fee.
$US 40= if crisp new notes was offered to the Laos office and taken with a smile.
All in all could not have been faster or easier.

Hello, Visa agents in Pattaya abound who'll do this but it costs. Any agents up here? Thanks!

So you have been entering Thailand every 15 months visa exempt or with tourist visa and agent was converting to non immigrant O visa entry for 90 days to allow TM7 extension of stay for retirement?
The age requirement has not changed. But it seems you do not meet the normal financial requirements and that the alternative 'agent' method is now being closed.
As has been said there are alternative destinations to explore if not tied to Thailand and you wish to explore them. As for Thailand things can change from one day to another so you might be able to find another door if this is now closed or temporarily move to greener pastures if not.
Yes, social security does not extend to 800,000 bhat, even when a person is a retired teacher. Yet I could live like a worthy human being. It was refreshing. The Dalai Lama calls it 'living with dignity.' Perhaps it will work out again. It does teach us a few lessons, though, about how flippant people are, willing to ridicule fellow ex-pats. The Thai immigration officer was in good company...

Kiimothai, now the larger visa company (in bkk) says they'll have a new quota of 15 month visas like you asked about. The issue with all the companies lies in the non O financial requirement (800,000 bhat), which is why so many of us get these 15 month extensions. But her quota is limited and timing is not 100% assured. I'm willing to try though.

You nave not addressed the issue: '15 months' designates the visa we are discussing. The financial requirements are much different, and as I said (& you publicly ridiculed) this is only done through an agent. Before you shame and blame others, please do your homework. This has been around for awhile; you've just forgotten (or ignored it).

non O based on retirement and subsequent 12 month extension.
"
The visa holder will often apply for Visa extension based on Retirement when in the Kingdom, which will enable them to stay for longer (see below). However, for this initial application, you will need the following documents:
- Proof that you are 50 years or older (your passport will suffice)
- Sufficient funds in your Thai Bank account not less than 800,000 THB. " Every source says this. This is not the visa we're discussing.

Then why are other people posting with the same information as mine? Why are our agents now telling us -, using the nomenclature I used, that they are unable to process our requests now? Can you give me an example of getting such a visa? Perhaps you're thinking of something else.

My 15 month retirement visa seems to be off the market now. Anyone have a martial arts connection or something similar that works for them? Or advice? I'll bet I have to pull up stakes & live elsewhere! Thanks! Ubon Joe, your opinions?

I would also like to know the latest changes to the yearly retirement visa (a retirement visa issued for one year by an agent.) Where would I find these? Thank you.
You need to specify which Immigration office you are using.
Chiang Mai, airport - the only one left, I believe. But I relied on private companies & it was fine until a month ago. Then one after another, they couldn't do this 15 month retirement visa, even a powerful company that I never doubted. I'm trying to learn the 'rules' so I don't step out of line again crossing borders until I have to move. It looks like the govt. simply wants younger, more affluent people now. I'll probably end up in a dustier less sanitary version of Thailand, at least until I save some cash to go elsewhere. How about you? I've posted everywhere. Maybe martial arts schools offer visas for a price? They did during covid. Thanks for posting.
