Latex toppers are produced in Thailand, why would you import one?

I didn't find a natl. latex topper in Ch Mai under 8000 bhat. Now I've seen stores out of business, for their sakes, hopefully for the short run,  but I'm not sure who to contact now. I've got my down coats jackets vests atop my brick hard apt. mattress.  Maybe that's the best I can do for awhile?

When I had  some things sent over from Europe the freight figure used was not the actual shipping cost but a much higher figure based on the volume (or maybe it was the weight) of the package * a set rate per litre (or kg).

Uh oh.  Dig this: just at these figures, my $69 topper ends up costing $372!!! This, mind you, is for a twin.  No way can I do this!

You have to figure out what the import duties on latex toppers is, then the math is: CIF (cost + insurance + freight) * [customs dutes] * 1.07 (VAT)

Let's assume your topper costs 5k and shipping and insurance is 2k, and let's assume that customs duties are 50%, then it would look like: 7000*0.5*1.07 = 3745 THB to pay to customs.

This is great.  Really kind of you.  Thank you so much!

HS Code 9404.21.0000 "Mattress Of Cellular Rubber Or Plastics, Whether Or Not Covered" would cover it.

That attracts 20% duty on CIF plus 7%VAT on the total.

But as noted above, they are made here, why not support the Thai rubber farmers, they need every cent they can get.

I tried, didn't work.  Longer story would say the same thing.  Thank you for the category etc.  Other than this purchase, I buy exclusively Thai.

  5. I want to buy a 1 inch natural latex topper from the US.  I think I need to declare the item's cost & shipping costs.  Then what?  I choose a category? (multiply this number by that number: I need it that basic, please.) Sending  a link  to a shipping company is useless; the company insists on their own shippers.  Thank you.

    Op,

If you are a resident, then dammit man, say resident!

    Why would you say Foreigners?

If you want an inoculation,  don't put your hand out.... as if your entitled.

Did you make the decision to receive the current serums available?

Did you make a choice of which brand or how many?

Do you have a regular physician to consult with to help you make a cognitive decision?

Im ashamed that you would be so brazen to even ask this on a forum.

Does the term lemming have any meaning to your own self esteem?

Pick up the phone, and call your doctor, for crying out loud.

Hello, pls note: Nowhere did I say 'free.'  Also, my word choice 'foreigners' would hopefully include all non-Thais living here, & some might not have established a permanent doctor yet (re: your last comment).

I lived for many yrs in an outlying province and had to fill out my own forms every year.. Imm was always helpful.. but in CM there are visa agents and they take all the pain out of the process... a great service. They will take care of all paperwork and you can ask them what type of visa you need..

pm me if you need an agent recommendation...

Thank you; I wasn't clear: I finally went to an agent who did everything & I'm done.

do you get a special visa for that?

geez. All I had to do was fill out a few forms, get a bank letter, pay a small fee, get a photo or 2...

I'm still reeling (somewhat) from dealing w/ the CEO, the Ecuadorian govt, the Peruvian govt., the Thai govt., the US govt, unending forms, money, tests, tests, tests, translations, airlines demanding new tickets, personnel blocking the door to the plane OUT, etc. Quarantine was a snap. But iIt took awhile to figure out which visa to get & how. I'm a peace-loving introvert; this is very weird

Domestic Thai travelers come to look at the orange glow in the night sky from all the forest burning.

Is that why the sky's red at night?  Jeez, I thought it was pollution doom, like in the PRC.  Frankly domestic tourism made me nervous more than foreign devils like you & me.  We did our time in quarantine.  But I am coming to see that Thais are real paranoid about covid, so guess I might as well calm down.

  10. How nervous should we be about 7 tour buses cruising into Central Mall area this morning?  Is Thailand allowing people in?  If the tourists have been in quarantine, they might not be carrying covid... It's inter-provincial tourism that I don't know about.  Appreciate facts/links. Thanks.

My credit union doesn't charge anything when TransferWise pulls out the money. I'd switch CU's.

Sorry, I meant on their own they charge $50 for an intl. transfer.  I don't think they'd charge anything using xoom or transferwise etc.  They even suggested I use a service. The CU did add a real annoying security procedure but I figure all banks will be doing this now. Other than that they're ok

Been using it regularly for the past 3 years, and has always worked well for me. It's regulated by the UK Financial Services Authority, and they recently received a restricted banking license in Australia. So governance should be fine an y ou needn't worry unnecessarily.

I'm not very good w/ techno stuff. I'll make a huge effort!  Thank you.
