Enough of this, will some agency please publish a specific list of the problems with the DCA (Department of Civil Aviation) and/or airlines. In my Consulting Business I have Audited/Inspected most of the major airlines in the world and Thai Airways International is as good or better than most .
So how about some specifics instead of, "Oh, the Elephant has a problem" !!
Even more important, in the beginning of the negotiations, AvCon had its engineers look at the aircraft using video borescopes it was to make offers on. Two of the aircrafts engines required an overhaul, and C4 checks had not been done although the airlines specifications not only did not reveal that information, but went even further indicating the C4 checks had been completed.
Secondly AVCON's engineer complied missing log files, missing component tags, mismatches of serial numbers in the records and actual serial numbers of components installed in HS-TLD.
The list contained over 200 items of such cases and was growing untill the date AVCON stopped working because HS-TLD's C4 check was stopped at 80% completion and parked outside hanger.
The letter stated AVCON can't imagine the true level of such cases on 3 other A340-SOO's as well as the entire THAI fleet. A huge safety issue could be the result.

One can't. Without proper records, the scope of inspection, repair and replacement, of parts with unknown histories, would be significant if not prohibitive in cost.how does one retroactively trace what maintenance has or has not been done on a aircraft, with thousands of parts, without proper records?

Perhaps related, my i phone 6 plus, started acting hinky whilst plugged to charger. Tech told me 'twas my aftermarket high output charger..... Something bout how it was wired .... Anywho, got the big OEM I pad charger and all seems fine.
I have found "evil" Thai wallsockets wired ass backwards, and ones with grounds not at all grounded. Just sayin....

Didn't FAA give them 60 days to shape up, like about 60 days ago?

Tools? Veerasiam on Sukhumvit Soi 71. Impressive selection. High quality to low quality. Of course you pay a bit more for the good stuff, but if you know what your doing, you don't need high quality for every piece.
Read an article that stated a $20,000 U.S. savings over the life of a car for those who fix things themselves as opposed to paying to have things fixed.
Dealers are reviled in the West. Can't imagine ( or hallucinate) them as any better here.
The ( non sweating) labour rate here however does make the option attractive certainly, yet, seeing how things are "maintained" here? And by those with "training" and "ethics"?
Ha..... ha ha ha........ ha ha ha ha ha .....ha ha IMHO

Glad she is alright.
In contrast, in Japan, it is unfortunately not unusual to have train service backed up by someone jumping on to the tracks in a bid to end it all. There are cleanup crews expressly outfitted for these events, due to the numerous occurances and the daily dependence of so many citizens on mass transit.
"Clean up on track four!" Japanese.... such and efficient bunch.
The glass partitions and doors at some BTS station are really a good idea.

Go to America and get shot or beaten by cops (Fergeson Mo. and many many other cities) Get killed in a mass shooting, watching a movie at a theater (Denver) Get blown up running a marathon (Boston) Have your kids killed by school shooters (Sandyhook, Colombine) Get massecred at an army base by an Army psychiatrist ( Texas) Just live in Chicago where dozens of people ar killed in any given week.
Etc etc etc ad infinitum .... Travel advisory anyone?

The suspect seemed awfully comfortable with that backpack loaded with a bunch of live explosives, as he sat down seeming to lean back against it.... Cool cool customer that one.
Now an official says it was a "perfect" bomb. No evidence available, fragments residue, etc. Difficult to believe.

Veerasiam in BKK on Sukhumvit Soi 71. They have worldwide brands, big selections and wide variety of tools. Not just automotive Bought a piston ring removal/install tool. They had 3 different types!
Dunno about Snap on but do have Blue Point. Snap on a bit over rated and WAY overpriced.

Us old airkraft mechanics who can read write and understand Engrish, and have some idea about what's behind those nice interior walls, are afraid,,,, very afraid.
Be sure to fasten and wear your seat belts and know where the emergency exits are.
Safe travels.

n NPR investigation found that in airplane fix-it shops across Costa Rica, China, Ethiopia, Argentina, Kenya, El Salvador and Indonesia, among other countries, the mechanics who deconstruct and reassemble planes are, overwhelmingly, not certified by the FAA. The majority also dont speak fluent English, despite having to rely on technical manuals written in English, as nearly all flight materials are.
And Thailand?
