  1. Went today , they complained about my bang statement being 7 weeks old. It was a time deposit for 3 million which does not mature for a few days. I told them In am only generally in Thailand from Friday night util Monday Morning.so do not get to go to my bank often. They said I may need other evidence otherwise pick it up Monday , I sent them statement from my Malaysian account which also has some decent sized time deposits in it, See what happens

  2. I've been in crowds where it feels like there is really the potential for a stampede to happen. Horrible! Whether you have warm and fuzzy feelings about Muslims doing Hajj or not ... these are human beings and that was a horrible tragedy.

Same as that , West Ham , Everton semi final in 1980 at Villa park , I was 13 and went with a couple of mates ,There were far too many in our end .We were right next to the fence between West Ham and Everton fans and all sorts of stuff was being chucked over , their was a surge from our side and I ended up off my feet facing our own fans, funny thing to remember but I couldn't even pull my arms out i was pinned that tight, I started to panic and was gasping for air and a few blokes pulled me out,I threw up. I have a Phobia now about being hemmed in , I did not go to Football again for years and on the occasions I go now , I either leave early or late to avoid the crowd on the stairs and at Upton Park station. I also have a thing about sitting on the outside of the table if I'm in a pub or restaurant , even with the missus and kids. I feel a bit of panic rising if Im on the inside and have no clear way to get out.

When you look back Hillsborough was destined to happen. Football supporters were herded in like cattle and the clubs just took the money, allowing far too many in. All different now of course its not just a working class game. It must be a terrible way to die, the feeling of being trapped and not being able to breathe. I made a few disparaging remarks earlier about this probably because it frightens the crap out of me and its a good way to cover up.

    RIP those who died

  3. I saw a program , think its on Youtube about British people locked up for Gear in Thailand. Every one of them was Grassed or set up to sell gear to a copper. 1 bloke got caught out with a shed load of E's and got 50 years. He was ranting , as you would do, about getting set up by Police and locals, the ones he'd been looking after before they got caught out

  4. Moving house this weekend so didn't get too much shopping , just enough for today, Breakfast was Camembert on toasted Rye bread with a handful of blueberries. was in Thailand last weekend and always bring back a couple of loaves of sliced Swiss country bread which is sold in Villa in 11 or 33 and makes a change to the big Rye bread roles. If you want to stop eating starchy carbs get some Black bread as its called or Rye bread, toast it and put what you want on it, unlike the sliced Mothers pride shit of which I used to eat half a loaf with my dinner, this stuff fills you up as it is so full of Fibre

  5. An addition of one million Chinese tourists are expected to visit Pattaya each year after Air Asia has agreed to operate two new direct routes to two Chinese cities scheduled to be launched on September 25.

Air Asia plans to operate four flights a week between Utapao and Nan Ning and three flights a week between Utapao and Nan Xang using two 180-seat Airbus A320 aircrafts.

Airbus A320 max capacity in Air Asia configuration: 180 passengers

    Total # of flights a week: 7

Maximum possible arrivals per year on 7 flights a week carrying max load = 65,520

How exactly does this equal 1 million additional tourists per year?

Must have one of those TAT calculators

  6. the new rail line should bring two million more Chinese tourists to Thailand annually

Note to self - do not take the train to/from China

Last year I had the unfortunate luck to be at a hotel in Phnom penh where a group of 50 Chinese were staying. During the buffet breakfast I was absolutely disgusted by the sounds these pigs were making, slurping, sucking, belching, and a whole assortment of animal type sounds. Needless to say I wont be using the dining car on this train

Ah TVF. They hate Thai, Chinese, Muslims, Nigerians, ...

I like some good old spitting on the floor while eating.

Gobbing on the floor whilst eating in a "Restaurant" is par for the course in Rural china. So is toddlers with flaps on the arse of their trousers crapping on the pavement, rather than the parents buying nappies . Its an awful place where people have no regard for common decency

  7. When I was at DM at 5am Tuesdays Morning there were quite a few flights going back to China as a result there was a huge queue to even get into immigration. I was called forward by the passport checker and he let me through , to the right "Foreign Passports" was up to the back wall with people mainly Chinese , showed immigration woman guarding the border between Thai /ASEAN and Foreign passports my Singapore residency card and I was through , queue of 4 or 5 people at each counter , I was surprised to see, so many Farangs in that section, Then I watched as immigration people herding the Chinese passengers coming into that section back into the packed section. It looked like they separating The Chinese form everyone else,Not the first time Ive seen that happen The Thais may be pleasant to the Chinese to gain money from tourism but underneath I think they don't like them at all

  8. Not sure where you live but in Bangkok the area 3 office is at the intersection of Rama 1 Road and Bantadtong Road phone number 022145347-9 Extension 106,108. Perhaps the missus can call there to find out if it is the right office for you.

Thanks gents I'll look up where the local office is. so early next year? its a not a massive amount but I'd rather have it than them. Also my missus has never claimed a rebate, she has had a restaurant for a few years and squirreled away a few bob in a time deposit. Think they may ask her where the Money came from, if she has not declared any of it previously

Well, depending the amount of interest refund you are filing for, your source of income (inside or outside Thailand), and the forms used they could ask the missus to identity her other other income or you income if earned within Thailand....that is taken into account in the process of determining how much of the withheld interest is refunded. Basically the first Bt150K of income per year is tax free....so if you gross income is below that you can get all the interest withheld refunded. The interest is not considered completely separate like refundable to anyone and everyone....like even if you were making millions of baht in income per year. I expect some folks don't file for the interest income refund because they don't want to declare their other income/lie on the tax form.

Like for me, I'm on a retirement extension of stay in Thailand...my living money comes from the home country pensions which is not taxable in Thailand, so my only "in-Thailand" income is the interest from my fixed income accounts during the year...I usually earn around Bt30K in gross interest each year---way short of the Bt150K tax free income point---with around Bt4.5K of that Bt30K being the amount withheld/what I'm filing a refund for.

Thank you , my income is from outside Thailand, where I have lived for 10 years plus , Thailand at least once a month to see missus and kids in that time while working overseas

  10. A time deposit n have in BKK bank matures in a couple of days , I dont spend a lot of week days here so had a day off yesterday and went into bank. They said they will give my missus the tax certificates and I asked them to pay interest into current account. Got wrapped up in a 1.6% 10 month deposit , which is crap but I did not have time to shop around. How do I go about claiming my tax back ?

No one gobbed on the floor?

  12. Well it took 25 years for them Don Mueng BTS to...well not finish...but at least...start going again.

I bet the farm in ten years this still won't be done.

BTS is the skytrain whose physical construction started around 1993 and was completed (first phase Onnut to Saphan Taksin via National Stadium) and operational in 1997 which was very very impressive. Same for other major infrastructure projects such as MRT subway train, Chonburi motorway, etc all completed in good time and quality construction. The only delayed and abandoned project was the Hopewell project which got bogged down in litigation.

Railways of that length are a different animal the Traction current (OCS) is far more complicated and heavier construction than a 3rd rail , which can be installed at a rate of 100s of metres a day. Also the signalling installation will be massive with thousand of insulated joints , ATPs and then there is the wiring

  13. In Khao Sod, his 30 year old gf Watsana Patsa said she met her Aussie bf a month ago while working in a restaurant in Pataya. She had gone to work there after being abandoned by her Thai husband whom she had a kid with.

During the drunken fracas outside the hotel he picked up a 1m long stick and was using it as a weapon.

While locked up in the cell overnight he at one point tried to commit suicide by hanging himself from the cell bar with the draw string of his shorts. Police intervened in time and he was cut down before he could succeed.

This is like a Thai Romeo and Juliette
