Hi Jumbo, as I am not a UK citizen I am not familiar with different UK options. If you do not get the response from a fellow Brit on the present post, you could consider posting a new thread explicitly asking for cheaper ways than TransferWise to transfer the equivalent of 800.000 THB in GBP to a thai bank account.
I have just spoken to Lloyds in UK, there is a flat fee of 9.50 gbp plus Thai banks conversion rate, 20,000 pounds can be transferred in a single transaction.....

Yes thats correct, but I think (am not sure) a lot of the burning area is State Land, I think thats President Trumps inarticulate bitch. Some land is BLM land too I believe.
Regardless, the issue arises as to whether there should be that type of development in that area. Its like building in a flood plain.
If you are saying there should be either trees OR buildings in a notoriously volatile area who would disagree ?

IMHO, given the condition of the planet, the last thing I would encourage is to increase any further the burden human species puts on it
Perhaps Thailand has learned from some European countries, either self populate or suffer from mass immigration ....

I would say a smart move. Thailand is not far off the tipping point of the population going into decline. Any encouragement to populate is a good thing. I try and do my best but a vasectomy doesn't help.
Me too, but it's the thought that counts 555

Yes, but easy to do online. Must send copy of passport via email. And it comes into your Thai bank as a FTT....foreign transfer.
What would cost to transfer 800,000 thb
with TW (19,000 gbp) Anyone had experience with Forex ?

While that is an amusing acronym, it's original meaning was baby, from old Romany gipsy language, it was hijacked by the travelling community, and it's meaning became corrupted to mean, uneducated and common. Chavy = baby

Its all about the cost - its a more costly process to produce paper than plastic….
That's what I suspected, but they can still splash their advertising all over it, and they can charge us a nominal fee of a few pence to cover production costs instead of "fining" us for using plastic

I think 7/11 and all the big stores should be investing in biodegradable bags. That makes good sense to me. Then you and I can use bags for a variety of reasons and functions - and with a clear conscience!
I've been wondering for years why they can't offer us paper bags, I've asked the question in UK supermarkets many times but no one can give me answer.
it seems to work for US stores and Primark in UK

Wrong
It only has to shown on the date the extension application is done. Two months for marriage and 3 months for retirement. The remainder of the year you can do what you want to the money.
Many thanks Joe, so I can repatriate the funds as soon as retirement visa is given ?
can I show UK bank statements showing state pension payments plus the balance in Thai bank to make up the 800,000

Speaking of hate crime, what should those who watch videos of 9/11 every anniversary, whooping and cheering with their mates (also on private property) be charged with ?
Or is there another set of rules for them ?

Again we see the police acting to please their political masters rather than upholding their sworn duty to uphold common law.

I have always wondered why a single person needs 800,000 to look after himself and a married person with a wife and possibley a couple of kids to look after only needs 400,000 ??
I see your point but am I not right in thinking you can't spend that fund because it has to be shown at 90 day reports ?

That is the reason, or the excuse if you like, for uncontrolled migration.
For sure our politicians are being, willingly or not, successful in creating divides in the public opinion.
There is no such thing as a job that indigenous people won't do, just a wage that they won't work for, that is the reason for mass immigration ....

I've never had such issues at 711s or Family Marts but I have at restaurants. So at restaurants when I pay with 1000 baht I show the bill and say the amount. Seems a bit much but it always works and I haven't had any waiters give me attitude about it either.
Sent from my Lenovo A7020a48 using Thailand Forum - Thaivisa mobile app
When paying with a 10000 in a bar I always ask if they can change this as I hand over, so they know that I know, and I know that they know....

Nothing will be done by Western governments eager to appease muslim migrants just as with the muslim men who have four wives, even tho bigamy is illegal. In Australia they treat 3 of the "wives" as single mothers, give each one a government pension and a place to live in, courtesy of the tax payer.
Same in UK ....

Quite a few years back a novel came out here called "Private Dancer". A writer for the BKK Post, believe it was, reviewed it and said it should be handed out free to every single westerner coming into the country. One of the many occurrences in the book was exactly that, husband passed off as brother. Good, entertaining read. Still in print, as far as I know.
I believe it was by the brilliant Stephen Leather.

Best way (and cheapest) to transfer money to Thailand

Noted, which is why I prefer to go into a Lloyds branch and get the printout which includes the reason for the transfer, at my request (i.e. retirement fund)
