  1. The pics look fabulous!

Thanks. The food tastes as good as it looks. Our team has personally tried every items several times to ensure it meets the high quality, consistency yet reasonable prices that we are becoming famous for.

BTW we just added the shima hokke fish from Japan (so easy to cook, just grill it and add some soy sauce).

    http://www.passiondelivery.com/collections/new-products/products/premium-shima-hokke-380g

Salmon fillets, smoked salmon, snowfish steak, lamb shanks and beef ribs will all be online this week too ....

  2. Never mind the doomsayers. You are offering a service for people who miss some of the things they are used to in their life and I wish you good luck with your business.

Personally I missed some decent bacon so much that I consulted the YouTube oracle and started making my own (delicious it is too) otherwise I would have been up for some of those tasty looking rashers.

How about a taste challenge? Order some of our Sloane's UK or US bacon and compare with your own. If yours is as good as Sloane's you have a good shot at getting it into the supermarkets here in Bangkok!

Also one way to reduce delivery charges for our PassionBox is to combine your order with friends or family. If 2 of you combine orders you only pay 295 baht each (590 baht divided by 2). If 3 of you order the delivery charge per person is less than 200 baht each, a bargain!).

We can ship up to 12kg of actual product in any PassionBox (the other 8kgs will be dry ice). Each box we ship cannot be more than 20kg in total.

  3. I've been following this thread with interest and decided to order a Passion box to see if the service was any good. I have no connection with this company and I do enjoy good quality food.
I spend time in Chiang Mai at the moment and love meat, so I ordered some dry aged beef last Thursday evening (1 each of tomahawk, ribeye, striploin, tenderloin), US Certified Anugs Beef (1 x ribeye and striploin) and some Sloane's sausages (Cumberland and Toulouse) and UK bacon.
The box arrived 11:30am this morning and was well packed. The goods were completely frozen and each one neatly vacuum packed. A good start. I have put some in the freezer and some in the fridge and will let you know once I have started consuming the goods ... watch this space..
Update from my passion box order so far....
The sausages and bacon from Sloane's were great. A nice treat for breakfast this morning! I will try out some of their other sausages next time.
I've tried the striploin and ribeye steaks. The striploin was nice although it had a bit too much fat on the edge for my liking. This probably varies from cut to cut though. If cooked correctly the steaks are very tender with good flavour. I will cook up the Tomahawk with friends in the next few days.
Overall the quality of the products I've tried so far is excellent and the prices are in my opinion quite reasonable.

Glad you are enjoying our PassionBox service and the goods so far.

I would be keen to know how you cook your tomahawk steak. We have tried many different ways to cook it and think the best way is like this:

    http://www.passiondelivery.com/pages/how-to-cook-a-perfect-tomahawk-steak

Another option is to add a final step and that is at the end to put the tomahawk in the pan with a generous lump of butter and some rosemary, then baste the meat for 2-3 minutes to give it a rich creamy flavour... also fantastic. Make sure you let the meat rest for at least 10 minutes before eating (to let the juices spread out evenly within the meat as this will make it very tender....)

  4. Good idea, very good selection.

Hope you will open a shop in BKK.

I like to know what I am eating so I usually study the labels,

(info re nutritional facts etc, so many %/g/mg of this and that etc, didn't find much of that for the products I checked on your www site)

(This is the first time I encounter Paypal and 5% surcharge, a bit stiff, but doesn't bother me, for some reason I just cannot use Paypal in Thailand, doesn't work here for me.)

    Bank transfer is fine.

A few times you have mentioned seafood/coming. Considering your delivery times I take it that what you offer is frozen seafood delivered on ice?

I like this concept. Good stuff!

    Thanks for your feedback.

Some products have labels but some don't have full nutritional information. It is mainly because many of these suppliers are artisan makers and although they know their products well and know they are excellent quality and what goes into them, they haven't yet got round to printing out the full labels. What we can do for now is if you want to know the information about certain products, please email me at [email protected] and we can ask the vendor(s) to provide the information. We will also start to add this information to each product on our website so everything is transparent.

For PayPal, when someone pays us we don't receive the amount they send, it is usually around 5% less. We are looking into the reason and if we can find a way to avoid this fee we will not have to add the extra 5% fee that PayPal seem to charge us. Thanks for pointing this out to us as it helps us keep improving our service. So far several of our PassionBox customers have paid by PayPal (we send you a link to make the payment after we have packed and weighed the goods) and there seems to be no problem. If you like, after you place your PassionBox order and want to try to pay by PayPal we can go through the same process and see if it is smooth? Bank transfer is also fine if you prefer. We aim to have a credit card payment option available as soon as possible.

Our seafood selection is now online here http://www.passiondelivery.com/collections/seafood. We send our seafood frozen and packed well in dry ice so it reaches you in perfect condition. Our deep sea cod and smoked manuka mussels seems especially popular at the moment.

    Thank you.

Gradually introducing nutritional info on your www site is probably a good idea.

(Just cannot use Paypal in Thailand, doesn't work for me, have tried for years, never mind. Bank transfer and later on credit card is just fine.)

Looking forward to my first box filled with goodies.

    /cheers

    No problem at all.

You can order anything from the PassionBox link here and you'll get it within a few days. Happy shopping!

  6. The shipping cost itself is preventative IMO, but I do wish you well.

BTW origin and breed of beef? Now if you could put Wagu (Kobe beef) (NOT 50% 50% as is often sold as Wagu beef, on your list then you may have a chance, I would be happy to buy from you as it's cheaper than the two tickets too Japanthumbsup.gif

Our dry aged beef is from Holstein cattle and is sourced directly from the farm in eastern Thailand. Our Tasmanian Angus beef is from Tasmania and the cows roam freely. Our Certified Angus beef from the USA is the highest grade beef from the USA, and our prices are around 25-30% cheaper than leading supermarkets. Since we can buy direct we can offer wholesale prices to our customers for some items, this one included.

In about 2 weeks we will be able to offer for the very first time ever in Thailand... Thai Wagyu beef.. marble score 2-3. It is available exclusively at PassionDelivery and will be one of the items available with PassionBox nationwide delivery. It is not usually available in Thailand because all the wagyu is usually exported to Japan! Indicative pricing for the ribeye is 2700 baht per kg. The same quality in a good supermarket would be around 3700 to 4000 baht.

We may also soon offer olive wagyu from Japan, unbelievably tender it just melts in your mouth... no indication about pricing at this stage...

  7. IMHO I think this is great and other services like it....

I have literally just got home from a visit to the UK...Don't talk about expensive please!

OK, if you eat western food day in, day out, every meal....Just go home, you'll save money, but I feel if like me your, eating 3 or 4 Western meals a week and living in the back end of nowhere it's a good thing.

So yer, good luck to this enterprise, I'll have a look and maybe place an order......

    Thanks for your nice comments.

Our PassionBox service is designed for customers who appreciate good quality food and drink and many of our items are hard to find even in Bangkok (such as good quality beef or freshly made and good crumpets).

You are absolutely correct that for people who live further away where there may not even be a Villa supermarket nearby, they have been delighted with having this option made available to them.

  8. Good luck with the business..

You will always get people moaning about prices but nobody is holding a gun to their head.

Personally I think it is very convenient and a great idea but many upcountry would prefer to make a 2 hour round trip to a local stockist, just to save 100 baht

I think I will be ordering soon but look forward to an expanded selection, maybe you can take suggestions on your website and get visitors to vote in a "hot or not" kind of way..

    Thanks a lot.

Stayed tuned as in the next 2 weeks you will see a great deal of new products coming online. Our seafood section will be fantastic, as will our meat section..... we will also be offering a nice range of cheese though not sure yet when that will be online.

Good idea to ask people what they would like to see added to our website, we can hopefully implement that in the near future.

  9. Reward points is not clear on this issue it does not tell you for say you have earned 20000 reward points how much does that give you if I used it in thai bhat????? rolleyes.gif

50,000 Passion Points will give you a 100 baht discount from your order.

You can earn Passion Points in several ways such as when you sign up for a PassionDelivery account, when you make an order (5 points for every 1 baht spent), or when you refer friends by email, FB etc and they make an order.

    Get more info here http://www.passiondelivery.com/pages/passion-reward-points.

  10. You don't take credit cards?

Hi. We are working on getting a credit card payment option up and running soon.

In the meantime you can pay by PayPal no problem. After you place your order we will confirm the total amount and then send you a PayPal request by email.

I'm a stupid old man, don't have PayPal.

We will try to get the credit card option up as soon as possible. It is very simple to use PayPal though. Once we send you a PayPal request by email all you do is click on the link and set up a PayPal account (takes about 2 mins) then enter your credit card details like a normal transaction and that is it.

Let me know if there is anything else we can help you with. It would be a shame to miss out on some very nice food!

  11. OP if you have any decent Boerewors i will take a few kgs off you

    Hi.

Good news. We have now added Sloane's boerewors to our website and you can order it here.

    http://www.passiondelivery.com/collections/sausages-bacon-ham/products/sloanes-boerewors-500g

We also have 2 other new sausages from Sloane's, maple & bacon, and bratwurst. Click here for more details (8th row down):

  12. I was actually considering ordering some steaks and ground beef from them until I saw their delivery prices. I was heartened by this sentence on their website:

We try hard to keep our delivery charges down and only charge what it costs us to send

That's a good sign I thought. So how much for delivery you may ask? 590 baht!!!!

I have just one thing to say. TRY HARDER, because you've failed. A box is under 10 baht. Dry ice is no more than 20 baht (buy a machine on eBay). A motorcycle to the Thai Post is 30 baht. And EMS delivery fees anywhere in Thailand for 1 kg are on the order of 100 baht. If 590 baht is really your cost, I suggest you find yourself a new logistics service.

Anyway, while I was almost willing to pay the high prices for a good quality steak, I am not willing to pay way over the odds for delivery. Sorry PassionBox, you lost a potential sale. I would recommend you reconsider your distribution model.

Thanks for your email and valuable feedback.

I think a clear breakdown of the charges to us will make things clear for everyone.

    Dry ice x 5 kgs = 150 baht.

Dry ice company delivery charge = 50 baht.

    Cardboard box = 40 baht

    Foam box = 50 baht

Cost to send to the logistics depot 8.5km away from our office = 100 baht

Logistics company delivery fee = 170 - 250 baht depending on the size and weight of the box.

You can see that this already adds up to around 590 baht. Sometimes it will be a few baht less and sometimes a few baht more.

    I hope this clarifies.

Warning... if you do order any of our steaks, especially our dry aged beef (tomahawk, tenderloin, ribeye, striploin) you will be addicted to them.... the prices vs quality / taste is simply unbeatable

  13. I can import bacon from Norway. 1st class much cheaper. Very expensive everything on this menu, but if you are hi-class, maybe its ok. I will stay with the excellent Thai chicken and pork. I can buy Norwegian Salmon and Mackerel in Makro. Mackerel 89 thb a kilo. Fresh Salmon 280 bath per kilo.

No body asked you to buy anything and everyone on here knows where to buy local produce.

Rather than spout off about the price, why not congratulate the people running this operation and wish them luck for the future.

I take my hat off to anyone attempting to operate any sort or business venture here especially one which has the odds stacked firmly against it due over taxation of goods that most natives wouldn't give a second glance to.

A fantastic opportunity for people in remoter parts of the nation to indulge in a little bit of the taste of home.

One of the reasons we have started offering our nationwide PassionBox delivery service is because many people who live outside of Bangkok asked if we could deliver to them, as they missed good quality food which they cannot easily get where they live. As well as offering good quality meat, sausages etc at reasonable prices, we also offer products that are exclusively available on PassionDelivery e.g. crumpets (English muffins) which are extremely popular and we send them out all over Thailand.

Whilst we are not the cheapest in the market (you will always be able to find cheaper at Makro), we do believe that our quality vs price proposition is the best out there and we have spent a great deal of time to test and compare products to ensure this is the case. I would invite you to try our service and see for yourself. Our UK bacon for example is simply delicious and has no artificial additives in at all.

I would like to thank all the ThaiVisa customers who ordered a PassionBox yesterday. Your orders will be sent out shortly to Hua Hin, Pattaya, Chiang Rai, Surin, Phuket and Hat Yai.

    Enjoy the goods!

  14. I have nothing to do with the OP but use their service and can highly recommend it. Sloanes sausages and ribs in particular.

Glad you are enjoying our service. If you like Sloane's sausages we have 3 new ones coming online in the next week or so, as well as many other delicious products...

New Sloane's sausages. Maple & bacon, Bratwurst, and Boerewores.

Thai wagyu beef (available exclusively with PassionDelivery, usually there is no available supply in Thailand as it all gets exported to Japan).

Smoked mussels and fish from NZ including deep sea cod

An amazing range of jams from Stonewall (USA)

All will be available for nationwide delivery in our PassionBox section. Stay tuned.

You can easily be kept up to date with our latest promotions / news / new products by liking us on FB, click here if interested https://www.facebook.com/passiondeliverybangkok.

  16. it is a good idea ill give you that and i wish you luck,

but having our own pig farm i make my own sausage and pork pies,, you cant beat lincolnshire, cumberland and old english there the ones i make

as for beef i just get it from macro,

but your site does look good

Thanks for the nice comments about our website. It is impressive you make your own sausages. I'd be interested if you ordered some of Sloane's (from us of course!) and compared them with yours. You can't beat a good sausage with a nice English breakfast!

  17. Don't listen to the usual jealous people here...great business idea though keep it clean,be honest and good luck...

Thanks a lot. It is our policy to always be transparent with our products and pricing to our customers. We will continue to add more great products to our website for nationwide delivery with PassionBox.

It is not an easy service to offer from a logistical point of view but we are happy to do so and we believe it will be a big benefit to customers who live outside of Bangkok and miss good quality food at reasonable prices.

yes it is a great concept! Transparency is sometimes missing in food business.....

Do you give the ingredients on your sausages? (I wonder for phosphates or other water binding substances and about MSG).

    I wish you good luck!

Thanks. The ingredients are on our website but no printed on the vacuum packs.

You don't need to worry about phosphates or any other kind of artificial additives. This is because Sloane's is famous for quality and the pork used is from free range pigs ... "Sloaneā€™s uses only natural sausage casings and our own recipes to avoid the use of unnecessary chemicals, no artificial flavorings or colourings are used".

He used to work for Gordan Ramsay in London. More details about the founder Joe Sloane and his philosophy can be found here http://www.passiondelivery.com/collections/sloanes.

Once you try these sausages you will never want to eat any other kind!

  18. Don't listen to the usual jealous people here...great business idea though keep it clean,be honest and good luck...

  19. Always good to have such services for those who live rurally.

I however pity the person trying to get ahead and promote their business amongst the online farang community. My God, you mean we will have to pay actual money for your goods and services? My word Sir, perish the thought of it.

    coffee1.gif

well outside you get excellent pork and beef on the market, from the neighbor, etc. OF course no sausage.....But the problem is when you are in Bangkok...you never know where the product comes from and how old it is.

I usually have pork, packed on the same day that smells after 2 days in the fridge. So it was either not fresh at all or it was deep frozen before.

The usual supermarket sausage is often loaded with MSG=low quality.

All our meat comes either direct from the farm or from trusted and well known sources. Our pork we buy directly from Betagro which is well known for producing high quality and hygenic pork. We buy the best quality as long as the price is reasonable so that we can offer good quality and reasonable prices to our customers. Our beef comes from a farm in Eastern Thailand or from the famed Accidental Butcher in Ekkamai who buy direct from farmers in Tasmania, Australia.

Our sausages and bacon comes from Sloane's who are also famous for their excellent quality. Sloane's bacon for example is cured with no additives or phosphates (that is why the size of the rashes doesn't shrink during cooking cos it is not pumped full of water, other brands of bacon shrink to sometimes half the size during cooking and then you have a pan full of water).

Everything is vacuum packed with clear labeling so that you can rest assured that we are only supplying freshly made, good quality meat and other products.

  20. Do you have a retail outlet in Bangkok or are you strictly delivery only?

Congratulations on your product range and I sincerely hope that your business does well.

At the moment we are a delivery service only though we may look to open a retail outlet in the future.

If you live in Bangkok our delivery charges start from just 90 baht as we deliver in special chilled boxes with our own drivers so no need for dry ice or to give the foam box away.

For more info about delivery and other details click here http://www.passiondelivery.com/pages/delivery.
