  1. Thanks for the suggestions.  I have presented the original death certificate and will to no avail. There is no dispute by bank that funds are held. Just a matter of procedure.

I've been to the attorney general department and they have told me what needs to be done legally. This involves numerous documents that need to be notarized.. certified ..translated  from deceased home country. Then I apply to court. It takes 4 months then to get the required order.

But...I was advised by them that there may be a short cut to this approach.

This has prompted the search for a lawyer that someone  may have used for a similar situation.

The bank account is in Bangkok

    Cheers.

  2. As the executor I have been advised I need to apply to the Thai courts to access the funds held by the deceased foreigner in a thai bank. He died outside Thailand.

It could take many months after all the notarized certified translated documents are lodged.

The court did say there may be a short cut...TIT???.. .Can anyone clarify or suggest an appropriate  lawyer from their knowledge  or experience

Any guidance would be much appreciated.

    Thank you

  4. Hi.  I have never had any problems getting numerous visas fom Chinese Embassy in BKK .. just supply what they want. Re the Z visa. It is possible to get the initial Z visa without returning to your home country given you can show you have been living and working in  Thailand for a while. In the past, admittedly some years ago now I got one from the BKK Chinese Embassy on that basis.  .But right now a colleague is getting one from another country ( not Thailand) without going home and he has only been there less than a year!!, So it is still possible. The invitation letter from China employer must indicate the Embassy location that you will apply . Good luck with it. IF you do have to go back maybe an agent can do it and save you the trip? not sure if that possible but maybe..I suggest you take whatever u can to show that Thailand has been basically your home country for past 8 years along with the invitation letter and see how you go. Cheers

  5. I am hoping someone can give me some advice.

I have been working in China for many years and now returning to Thailand.

I am officially married to a Thai.

I have a container of furniture, paintings etc.. personal effects from apartment there that I want to ship back to Bangkok. It all would be worth a fair bit

My understanding is that it would be tax free as such. Is this correct?

They are owned jointly with wife like some things in a marriage.

I have let my O . marriage visa lapse so will return on a tourist visa and then get a new O.

Is there a "best" way to go about this from the start?

Any advice would be much appreciated. Thank you.

  6. Thanks for your experience. Just for information it turns out that the letter advising acceptance of an application for the OAP, and details re the payment amounts etc, is silent on whether a 2 year stay in Australia is required before the OAP can be paid off shore. It only "appears " when the pensioner advises that they intend to leave the country and you are then advised that the pension won't be paid for the absence period.

So, just because it isn't stated on the letter, don't assume it isn't a requirement, and check.

  7. Thanks for this information .I didn't realise it was across the board.

However I am asking if the requirement to stay in Australia for 2 years, or else, is actually mentioned specifically in the letter advising acceptance of an OAP application by an applicant who has, prior to applying, been living out of Australia . Or does one have to check to determine if this condition applies.

  8. Hi,

With regard to the requirement to stay in Australia for 2 years after being approved for the Old age pension for those who have lived outside Australia prior to applying , can anyone tell me if that requirement is actually spelt out specifically in the pension approval advice letter?

Or is it necessary to check with CI to find out if the 2 years applies?

    Thanks.

  9. Thanks for this account. I had the same experience around the same time. My wife was refused a tourist visa because she had been there twice already!! They insisted I apply for a partner visa. It was same same for me so I went with the flow and she went on to get PR subsequently. But I could never fathom the logic but now have a better understanding. Interesting, though wonder how any personal advantage could be achieved by staff involved..

  10. The wife bought a new vehicle, delivered December 2012.

All the necessary papers duly completed.

    To date no rebate received.

Could be the govt situation is delaying payments, maybe the money diverted to rice payments, maybe normal time frame.

Are others getting paid or in the same situ?

    Thanks.

  11. woops, wanted to add I couldn't agree more that more to this than suggested. I too have travelled hundreds of times BKK to Burirum and they always change drivers top of the hill plus another often resting on board.. Plus there is the hostess up front usually who would notice things?

My experiences have been exemplary over the years I have used them .

I won't be changing them as my exclusive mode of transport either. RIP and condolences to the Driver's family.
