  1. SPYBOT search & destroy

Spot on, thats the one. cheers.

And to Rabbi, If I sent that to my mates they would think I have gone mad! sorry. good luck

Also try super anti spyware i had the same problem with hotmail. sign in and out everytime also and never save password like with firefox. hope this helps.

  2. 10K hmmmmm not so sure on that one depends where you want to stay and the area cant help thinking it wont be too clever for that :ermm::(

Thanks for the advice from everyone still looking.

there is a plethora of townhouses to be had for that price , in good condition and not-so-bad location (Particularly if you don't mind to stay outside downtown area as far as Minburi).

just browse those numerous Thai property websites (all in Thai, but your wife will certainly be able to assist you) , and you should find a wealth of options.

  3. A friend I had rented a one-storey house with decently large land in Suttisarn/Ratchada and he paid 17,500 bath per month, IMO, around that price (15-20) is the going rate for detached houses in that area. I haven't rented for years but from what I have heard, the 6-meter wide 2 storey town houses are 12,000 bath or so. 10,000 is a bit low for detached houses in Suttisarn/Ratchada.

I would never trade Suttisarn/Ratchada for Minburi, I have been living there for over 15 years, love the area.

Drive around, go in on the smaller sois and the further araw from the main road it is the lower the prices

    God Luck

  4. I am moving in 3 months I currently live in the ratchada area but it is too expensive paying 17,500 baht. Me and the wife and daughter would like to get a nice house cheap in Bkk but not to far from everything maybe considering Minburi area Sutisan? I am a falang 56 years old and retired here. Thanks in advance if you have a place and are considering renting it my family will take good care of your home.

  5. P.S. Above info is based on the regular BoA Bank internet banking system; if you are using the BoA Military Bank internet banking system, then the precedure/setup is different and actually less capable. After you logon to the BoA Military system, go to the Services memu, and then select Wire Transfers.

Thanks Pib yes my pension is direct deposit to BofA and i would like to save some money here. Do you have the routing number for Bangkok bank in Ny?? I will try to set it up and report back here. Thanks

  6. Bangkok Bank has a branch in New York, USA I have two accounts with them here. I transfer online from Bank of America to Bangkok Bank NY. Usually $2,000. B of A charges me $3, Bangkok Bank NY charges $5, Bangkok Bank in Bangkok charges me 200 Baht. But Monday, I got 32.41 Baht to the dollar. Pretty good rate! I don't know if they have a branch in the UK though. Just checked their exchange rate today and it's 32.14 buying the dollar. 32.43 for buying TT.

Can you walk me through it how you set up transfer using BOFA online banking they keep telling me I can not do it. Are you using the ACH method of transfer?? This would really help me to get my pension to Thailand. Your expert thoughts on this would be appreciated very much. I have my account in Calif and also have BKK bank savings.

  7. Thanks schmutzie and Hardback.

Now I've got another one for you: since I'll be in BKK anyway, is it safe to go to Pantip Plaza, as far as Thai street demos are concerned?

You do not need to go to pantip when you go to the embassy it is near fortune town same thing computers and phones whatever.

  8. Yes you can get a credit card and yes you can get a bank loan. For a credit card you must have the monthly income requirement, a visa and work permit that have been consecutively active for 3 years and the same employer for 3 consecutive years. As far as the bank loans go in most cases for a house you need 50% down and it also depends on your age the older you are the more down money you need, I am also assuming you are putting a Thai national on the deed as the owner of the land. A car lone requires 20% down on the average Japanese car or truck and all of the above qualifications.

I am retired here in Thailand have my pension from USA and retirement visa will that suffice?? Thanks for all the help

  9. I am interested in how much everyone pays when they move from apt. to apt. in BKK? Do you use a moving service or do you get the local songtows? I am thinking about starting a service to move your stuff cheap no bothers just call and my guys are there. My last move which was not very far came to about 1100 baht that included 2 trips with the truck and 3 helpers pretty cheap I think and if i add a 300 baht service charge for my trouble just wondering if that would be equitable for everyone. Please help with some information about your moving exp. Thank you in advance.

  10. Just wanna say thanks for all the comments, got just over a week now before travelling.

Was a bit worried when those airport protests kicked off but seems I will be going now...cool.

Great tips about getting to Pattaya, I'll probably go via taxi but maybe not one on the hotel rank in Bangkok as suggested.

By the way I'll be in the Majestic Grande in Bangkok and the Tim Boutique Hotel in Pattaya if anyone has any thoughts on those choices.

After that I'll be heading to island beaches.

You can always get a van from victory monument to Pattaya they leave every 20 minutes and the charge is 150 baht a real good deal.

  11. I was told it is not possible to do direct deposits for Social Security to Thai Banks. Have seen or read nothing different, guess u could deposit other retirement fund??

Do u mean to have retirement deposited to Bof A then transfer to Bangkok Bank? For some reason I have had problems with Bangkok Bank in that I could not open an account in my name with out a work permit, perhaps they are more friendly now

I am pretty sure that you can have your social security direct deposited no problem. I have my pension which they will not deposit in a Thai bank thus the problem.

You should check in to your SS check for direct deposit as in 6 years i will have the same and look forward to no atm fees. I have a retirement visa so i guess that helps to get a thai bank acct.

  12. I have a Bank of America account in Calif. And would like to use online banking to transfer my pension here to Thailand using my Bangkok Bank acct. Now i have read some old posts and it seems some one was able to transfer there money using this ACH which allows you to transfer either the next day or 3 days processing with a very nominal fee. Has anyone done this successfully ? They say you need to transfer 2 small amounts something like .44 cents twice and verify with Bangkok Bank report to Bof A annd your are good to go there will be a tab on your account?? I went to my account selected transfer outside bank and got warning invalid address so i sent a message to BofA to clarify.

    Any help Appreciated.

  13. Well boys and girls way in on this one will you. I read a couple of posts about TOT and they were not flattering. Now i am wondering if there service is really bad yes they have been out to my condo too many times different story every time. Last agent that came out said i used my modem too much I have the speed touch brand and the lights are always blinking. I figure about the 8th trip and my problems should be about 75% fixed. Sometimes no internet access or very slow page loading which blows then the other times my speed test is max. 1.79 download speed I have the 2meg TOT package by the way. The time of day seems to effect the speeds afternoon okay evening bad. Thanks in advance appreciate your thoughts on this matter Cheers.
