Well Guys i already have a girl guess i forgot to mention that. So much for getting my ducks in a row by the way her name is Duck. I just met her 6 year old daughter last trip. I am going to take a shot at it with new family really get along well so far. As far as living in Bkk i plan on staying on Koh Samui for at least 2 months a year like really like lamai beach. I do not really drink that much very little but i am sure that could change. I was in the hospital there Bumrungrad last trip with stomach ulcers so drinking is not really an option. thanks for the tips on bargirls and that.

i am moving here next week from USA recently retired i have been to Thailand twice loved it. I will be staying in Bkk in a serviced apartment to start with. What should i expect first couple of months? What are common problems farangs run into there? please appreciate any info or clues. i will be very close to Victory monument skytrain station.
Here is a common pitfall..letting everyone know how much your retirement benefit is:
"I am 51 and planing to retire in Thailand also I live in Los Angeles and I would like to know what is going to be the right visa for me? I would qualify for the retirement visa money qualifications 65,000 baht a month I believe? If someone could give me some pointers or a heads up I would appreciate it thanks."
I predict you will have lots and lots of friends.
...and your share of heartache...
...good luck!

Under the Thai law, every drug store must employ a licensed pharmacist to make sure customers are given the correct advise on how to use drugs.
Mind you, doesn't say a thing about having a prescription, just so you get "good advice". When I walk into a pharmacy, 99 times out of a hundred the pharmacist opens his big book of drugs and tries to talk me into buying vicodin or viagra or some narcotic I don't need. How much to take? Up to me.
As to taking years to become one, what's the point? In the end all you're doing is counting pills and stuffing cotton in bottles.
I love thailand.
I am moving from the states soon and wonder what are some of the costs for meds there. I take several blood pressure meds among others things are they real cheap? How much for thirty Vicodin? just need to get an idea i have insurance but i dont believe my rx is going to be any good in LOS.

There is no relationship worth the hassles or aggravation from arguements or disagreements. I am sorry, but this a hard lesson for too many to learn.
Here HERE there is no girl or women on this planet worth the aggravation cut your losses and move on i learned the hard way but the most important is i learned me and my thai girlfriend had a financial squabble the other day and i told her to hit the road and she got the message now no problems.

To add to whats already been said the big differences between obtaining the 1 year extension of stay in Thailand and having it pre-approved before leaving your home country are,
A pre-approved O-A visa requires a clean police record to be shown whereas an extension within Thailand does not require evidence of such.
A pre-approved O-A affords you the luxury of not having to bring into Thailand the requiste funds until your first year is up and you recieve a years stay upon arrival whereas to extend within Thailand requires the funds to be brought into Thailand from the outset.
Obviously for an O-A evidence of sufficient funds deposited in an account overseas must be shown when applying.

I would qualify for the retirement visa money qualifications 65,000 baht a month I believe? If someone could give me some pointers or a heads up I would appreciate it thanks.
