  1. Why risk going to the airport and not being able to board the plane? What is an acceptable risk to you? 25% chance? 50% chance? Follow through with talking with Thai Airways and see what they say.

Then you simply go to the ticket office, book a return ticket on business class. Upon arrival in BKK, you go to the ticket office and cancel the ticket and get a 100% refund. Simple and easy.

  2. Most times when I fly them, I swear to never again but the price is just too hard to turn down

AA used to be cheap, now most of the other low cost carriers has better prices on the most popular routes. Even Thai Airways is cheaper on CNX - BKK with 1750THB compared to AA's 1770.

  3. Just show your Brit friends anything with 'porn' in the name, it cracks them up!

There was an image on tv some time back with a photo of 'Fuk me sushi restaurant' on it, that's always good for a laugh. I wonder how they answer the phone?

There's a jewelery store close to The Raffles in Singapore with the name '<deleted> YU', I love it :o

  4. [*]In 2006, the Pai Police purchased a new mobile drug testing vehicle, and there have been numerous reported instances of the police entering bars and other establishments and randomly urine-testing foreign tourists. In many of these cases it is apparent that the searches were not performed legally. In Thailand, "when requesting urinalysis for drug identification purposes, at least one member of the Narcotics Suppression Police must be present. Regular Thai police do not have this right, nor do the Tourist Police. Second of all, there must be probable cause."[11]. In most cases, apprehended suspects are detained in Mae Hong Son jail for a few days, then released with a "fine" typically on the order of 5,000-10,000 baht.[12]

Excellent, the world has no need for drug abusers - and the only way to let people know is to crack down on it, whether it is by the book or not. The urine test doesn't lie, whether the approach is by the book or not.

  5. After reading this and a few other threads it seems to me that Mobs00 and perhaps one or two others are intent on sticking their noses in other peoples (Thais) business. This could prove to be rather detrimental to their health as has been proven in the past on more than one occasion.

Are you warning us or sending idle threats from behind your PC?

If you knew BB, you would not be mouthing off, you would be shaking behind your computer. :o

gee even more kids join the playground, fun people.

the kid is out playing in the streets again huh

  7. [trashtalk removed]

I am a sub-sea structural engineer and i can tell you that there is no difference.

So you are well qualified then to understand that some things need maintenance, not many people have elevators in their house, or a transformers, or a advanced water pump system, and lot of other various infrastructural objects which you will find in a apartment building. Anyway, fed up to the back teeth, good night!

  8. No i can't see the difference.

Both have pillars, walls and a roof.. (really?)

Probably neither of them would receive any maintenance..So whats your point ??

Tell your friend if they are after a place that will last 40 years i suggest moving to someplace else..

okey, no point selling a drawing to a blind man I guess.

  9. Actually I was renting the house that MaeJo Man now lives in 23 years ago. It was a good solid house then and still is.

    ...

The house i live in has been standing for 35-ish years..It's still standing strong and looks as though it could do another 30..

Okey, lets try this spelling challenge:

    A P A R T M E N T vs H O U S E, can you see a difference?

There is much more to it than the spelling guys ... sometimes I wonder why I bother replying to people who are just so oblivious to common sense.

  10. Well Hey, lot's of others contradicting experts as well, why are you right and not me? Anyway, the OP is considering an apartment which he want to live in for 40-45 years, have you seen an apartment building in this city which you think would be just as nice as it is today in that time perspective? CM will be like Buenos Aires in 50 years, lots of nice buildings but no maintenance - which is the keyword here. Let's meet at Hillside 2 in 2052, if you are still alive(?) I'll be waiting outside hydroplane :-)

What's your problem cloth ears? Why don't you read post thoroughly before making inane comments? It's not a question of, and to quote you "why are you right and not me?" Never at any stage claim I was right. You also went on to say to the OP "don't make any longer plans than 5 years at tops in this country, keep you from being disappointed. Why shouldn't he? I did nearly 30 years ago, and I'm not disappointed . So you had a disappointment, well tough shit, life can be cruel sometimes, but it goes on even with doomsters like you hanging about.

If you want to tell people "don't make any longer plans than 5 years at tops in this country" I would respectfully suggest that you get a large soapbox, and cry it out to all and sundry :o

Okey, let us know which apartment you bought 30 years ago in Chiang Mai. (...and you Blinky Boy) The OP wants a apartment to live in for the next 4 decades, maintenance is not top priority in this country - if you have stayed here 30 years and still are blind to that fact, well. My advice was to be reluctant to long term investments in apartments in this country, especially when he is talking about his lifesavings, its not a financial investment. But please, go ahead and buy, it's not me that gonna take that elevator which I doubt will be working very well in 40 years time.

  11. If this forum is now for experts only which he suggests it should be then perhaps other users should join me in looking for a more suitable forum to learn to improve thier photography.

Sorry, I assumed you could read English as your nick being "....American" - sorry for that misjudgment, in which language do you prefer my writing? I wrote nothing like the above.

  12. Anything about Thai wives of Scandinavians in the OP?

In what form does the Thai wife of a Scandinavian have to demonstrate to the Scandinavian country’s government that she has given up Thai citizenship? Can she not declare to the Scandinavian country’s government that she has given up Thai citizenship, but in effect not make a declaration to the Thai government that she desires to renounce her Thai nationality?

    --

    Maestro

Lol. Anything about not being a Scandinavian in the OP? It's a simple factual EXAMPLE, like it or not - that is how it is there, and many many other countries. And yes of course do they need paperwork, and yes such paperwork does exist.

  13. What? Why not?

You're obviously an expert on Thailand. How long have you been here? Seen many buildings fall down in your time here?

What have you seen deteriorating during your vast experience here? (apart from air quality at certain times)

Full of gloom doom and despondency :o You have obviously been disenchanted at some stage, but why shovel it onto others?

  14. If you are recommending the down town Bp city hotel that I stayed at 4 months ago I would pass on that one

In its day it might have been nice but to me it was a mildew dungeon.

    Outdated rooms and fixtures

It needs a good remodel .

huh? it has just opened after an extensive remodel?

  15. All that plus a smooth liquid-cooled engine, tires wider than you might expect, big turn signal indicators, and even a parking brake.

My experience is very limited but it handles like a whole different machine than the 110cc bike (no name = nobody offended) that I rented before.

click has liquid-cooled engine, and same tires as well if you choose the extra packet with alloy rims :o

  16. And please, don't take this ill, its just a well meant comment.

I certainly won't post anymore. I don't want to offend you delicate taste. People who post here do so for constructive criticism not bashing from an egomaniac.

well its a free country ...

  17. we've got a click, same as airblade me think. its a wonderful bike, excellent acceleration (despite being a auto, not compared to the CBR150 of course) and much more fun riding in the city, compared to the wave 125i we've got. so I think they are a great buy, may I ask the OP why a airblade and not a click - is there any vital difference except two instead of one suspender in the back?
