I am also in the same situation, I traveled to Australia in January and have been unable to return.

Problem now is that if you are an Australian citizen you need to apply to the Government for permission to leave and you need to have a compelling reason and show evidence of need to travel

If you're spent more time out of Australia  in the  last 2 years you will get a exemption to leave quite easy apply to home affairs

If you work in Australia for ten years you get a pension? Really?

No , you will get a part pension, if you work in australia for 35 years you get the full pension, i also know of many aussie's that have bought thai wives to this country only to lose them after they get permenent residency,

Correct my comment was in response to "Jaiyen's" comment in which his first sentence the process described is true for one scenario.  There is more than one situation in which citizenship can be granted .  Whilst Jaiyen's comment & description of the Citizenship is relevant to OP's comments is should not be construed by other readers as that's the only way.

In relation to the term "permanent residency/resident" in australia it is partly true, permanent residence in australia is permanent provided that upon arriving in australia that you never leave.  When permanent residency is granted for a period of 5 you are also conferred the rights to leave and enter australia as much as you like.  After that 5 years should you wish to travel out of australia you need to obtain was is effectively a re-entry permit in to australia to continue your status as a permanent resident.  Whilst this re-entry permit is relatively straight forward to do and obtain, it has caught out some permanent residents in australia.

Of course the above paragraph doesn't matter if you never leave australia.

I am at a loss to understand this , about after 5 years thing, my wife a thai, has lived in australia for more than 5 years and we travel back to thailand fairly often, never heard of a re-entry permit, she was given another permanent residency visa at the end of the first one.

  4. I have been trying to get into my google playstore, and download the thai translator apps. but google wants me to sign in, i do know my password but it does not give me the alphabet  just the numbers, so how can i sign in??

This is the way I hope it works, better for me to get marriage visa! But it is likely we will need a tourist visa for her to visit Oz at some stage. Do we need to declare marriage to get visa? What if she doesnt change her name on passport?

i am married to a thai, when i went to aussie they did cut my pension by a bit more than 200 dollars, and when my wife worked there they took 50 cents in the dollar more, so we seperated, now i live in thailand on my full aussie age pension, did not try the visitor visa

Well, if you fly CEB out of BKK and then use CEB again for your trip to Bacolod, then you don't need to leave T3. You can even book a flight all the way to Bacolod on the same PNR on the CEB website, and then you would not have to worry about connection times or checking in again at MNL, because then they would just put you on the next domestic flight in case your international flight is delayed.

Thanks for that, i will be doing that, coming back in about one week, but it looks as if Philippine airline is quicker for the return trip to bangkok

your post is a bit confusing. You are Aussie and departing from where? OZ ? BKK ?

Immi queues in Manila can be unpredictable same as in BKK, and it depends at which terminal your flight arrives. I have experienced everything from 2 minutes to 1.5 hrs. Cebu Pacific would be T3 which is usually better than T1 or the old domestic terminal where some international budget-airline flights arrive. In case you need to change the terminal you should leave at least 4 hrs between the arrival of your international flight and the departure time of your domestic flight. During rush hour (and even at 5.30 am as it happened to me years ago!) it can take more than one hour to get from T3 to T1 or the domestic T.

Sorry for that, i am leaving from bangkok, monday about mid day i believe.

  9. Hi All.

Just trying to find out how long to go through immigration in  [ i assume manila ] i am flying there soon, i have looked at Cebu air, i am going to bacolod . so i assume i will do immigration at swampy and again at manila, but my flight times are a bit tight, maybe i need more time, also i believe that i do not need a visa i am a aussie.

If memory recals it was about 7 hrs. Cost was about 450 to 550 can remember.

What i do remember is thinking on the way up to Vientiane that there was no way on this earth i would be getting the bus back down. So i forked out for a taxi which really wasnt much better but a dam sight quicker. Again if memory serves about 2500bht.

After this trip it convinced me to buy a car.

Pardon my asking why you are going to Vientiane? If for visa Savannakhet is much closer for you.

Thank you for that, no visa required i am just going to look around

  11. Can some one tell me what is the best way to go from vientiane to sakon  nokhon  i was thinking about take a bus do not know about the cost and time to do this, i want to avoid flying to bangkok and back to sakon nakhon

           thank you in advance.

  12. Hi Every body,

I am wanting to find out about a good sat-nav, for the car, what brands work well, also i will be in bangkok later in the week, so where is the best place to buy and at what price??

       thanks in advance.

  13. Hi All,

I am thinking about sending my 2015 Vigo champ dual cab to australia, as i am going to be spending a lot of time over there, has any body done this or knows soe one who has? question 1 a good firm to contact about shipping,

question 2 is there any problem with getting it registered over there,

i have owned this car since new, and the prices i have been offered are stupid, also looking at similar cars in australia,  prices are expensive,so i just want to do the sums.

             Thanks for any good advise.

  14. Governments need to grow a pair, and only allow the people who want to resettle in a new country to go there, what i see in australia, is a bunch of people coming into my country not willing to follow our rules do not want to work at all, getting huge hand outs, not wanting to learn our language, being paid for 3 wives, and yet the very people who paid their txes and worked all their lives just get a very substandard pension, and people ask me why i do not like these people?? i think it is as plain as the nose on my face, they are not poor refugees, for us with our eyes open wide, they want everything and most governments are just too weak to stand up and stop this rot.....

The other day I saw some wine from Australia at 199thb sold at Villa... Has anybody tried it?

yes and every wine that i have seen that says it is a product from australia, has not been good, maybe they dump the left overs over here,

Food for thought: Who creates the wars which creates the refugees?

yes, i agree in this day and age it is not easy to find genuine refugees as so many organisations are involved with their tactics to have these people live in other countries, if you take aussie for instance these so called refugees do not recognize our flag, get 93%  government funding for their schools, WILL NOT work, even when kind hearted people give them many chances, now want our schools to stop singing our national anthem in school because they find it offensive, when asked if they would like to go back to their own country, NO<NO<NO. and people wonder why some of us are not happy  , when i fight with some one, and lose i do not run to mummy and seek comfort, they need to stay in their country and sort out these problems.....

Not hard at all. The system already does a search for a person's history when the passport they are using has not been used before for entry. A nationality and date of birth  match might result in them checking further. Perhaps that result narrowed down to those on the blacklist and then a facial recognition search.

Joe , i thought that we had another person [woman] only a couple of days ago who was blacklisted, she got a visa no problem, but the airline would not let her board the plane.
