  1. Fosters was established in Australia in 1888 by two American brothers. It was brewed in Australia for a significant amount of time. Yes it was bought and sold and and merged and ended up with Asahi, but it can still be , and still is, correctly regarded as an Australian beer. (that's only my opinion, not an argument) According to my limited research it is not as popular in Australia as it one was. Maybe that's why people think it is no longer with us.
  2. Always wear proper headgear when getting literally falling down drunk.
  3. So they call Austrians Aussies now? That's gonna be confusing
  4. How about signs warning people not to get staggering drunk? Post them everywhere. Thailand is not the place to do that.
  5. Same as for any other tick or biting insect. Insect repellent and careful inspection of clothes and body after hiking through brush. I learned that, like, a million years before I came here. Ever hear of Lyme Disease? Caused by bacteria from the deer tick? That was first discovered near where I lived in the US, a town called Old Lyme. Ever since then most of us are aware of the need to watch for biting insect hitchhikers whenever outdoors. You have to remember where you are, this ain't New jersey. There's not much you can do to control ticks and chiggers in the wild.
  6. Yeah, don't they already own Pratumnak?
  7. BTW it's spelled racist. The guy's comment, which sailed over your head, was against the racism regularly seen in this forum, BTW, Are you more of an olive green or olive brown? Or are you a black olive? Or military camo olive drab? I think aliens are more olive green. Does your color help with camouflage in the jungle? Can you disappear into the Thai jungle, invisible? OK. So much for the jokes. You need to go back to school and work on your English comprehension
  8. 7-11 should offer a special discount on deodorant for Indians.
  9. You're right, and most of them tend to be Brits, just from my experience. But if you're just emotionally stunted and unable to sustain a healthy relationship, and if you end up the victim of less reputable women as a result, it's still your fault.
  10. This is his own business and how he feels and what he wants to do about it are totally understandable. I think now that he is in Thailand he will find her, unless she doesn't want to be found, which I doubt. He doesn't need parenting any more and is a mature adult, I see no reason why she shouldn't be thrilled to see him again. I wish him the best.
  11. No. "Businesses can sell alcohol during their legal operating hours." Plus, there's the independent mom and pop convenience store which make all booze quite convenient
  12. The US is deporting its own legal citizens and residents, never mind tourists. My doctor is a Chinese American citizen of the US, she is afraid to visit Thailand because she's afraid the US won't let her back in.
  13. Could be a rogue employee, or a supervisor in a bad mood about foreigners. Facial tattoos are no longer unusual in today's world, I personally think they're hideous self mutilation. I could see if they were refused in the first place, but they had already previously let him in, so what changed? I feel bad for them, that must have been hell. But don't we all know how conservative these Arab countries are, and the miserable things they do to people? So if we're going to come up with a name for this kind of discrimination what will we call it? Tattooism?
  14. I don't think tattoos affect it. If hes already been in the country then the facial recognition scans already worked. The scans Identify features like eyes, noses, chins, jawlines, and computes distances and angles between. It works on Black people just fine, right? People with full beards?
  15. That actually might be the real issue. to have a passport, you have to have a face that looks like a face. face tattoos are fine if you want to be "unique" or a mobster, but don't expect everyone to jump on the bandwagon with you.
  16. I make no claims as to any expertise in Thai politics, but this looks like a circus to me.
  17. It's the economy, stυpid. (that's not the actual quote, it's the one people think he said)
  18. looks like a bunch of F students in electronics 101.
  19. You mean the one on Sukhumvit Soi 24? https://www.hilton.com/en/hotels/bkksuhi-hilton-sukhumvit-bangkok/
  20. "Teen". That's definitely the wrong age to be on Kao San. Because of his age I doubt he'll go to prison. Just deported and let his mommy and daddy whup his ɑss
  21. Despite these various political squabbles, which really don't affect regular people going about their lives, I can attest that, no matter what, Thailand is still an exponentially better place to live than the US, which is now under the control of a psycho felon, all of congress, and all of the supreme court, and they are doing serious damage to the US democracy and to the world economy. Trump was no doubt at least partly motivated in the Iran bombing by wanting to distract people away from confronting his systematic dismantling of democracy. Now he can play the hero, and people will fall for it. As to what I think, it's true that Iran's nuclear program posed enough of an immediate threat that the bombing was necessary to dismantle that threat, and the rest of the threat to its neighbors with its military. But I don't give it much thought as I'm happy to live in Thailand 8000 miles from US mayhem
