  1. You're right, and most of them tend to be Brits, just from my experience. But if you're just emotionally stunted and unable to sustain a healthy relationship, and if you end up the victim of less reputable women as a result, it's still your fault.
  2. This is his own business and how he feels and what he wants to do about it are totally understandable. I think now that he is in Thailand he will find her, unless she doesn't want to be found, which I doubt. He doesn't need parenting any more and is a mature adult, I see no reason why she shouldn't be thrilled to see him again. I wish him the best.
  3. No. "Businesses can sell alcohol during their legal operating hours." Plus, there's the independent mom and pop convenience store which make all booze quite convenient
  4. The US is deporting its own legal citizens and residents, never mind tourists. My doctor is a Chinese American citizen of the US, she is afraid to visit Thailand because she's afraid the US won't let her back in.
  5. Could be a rogue employee, or a supervisor in a bad mood about foreigners. Facial tattoos are no longer unusual in today's world, I personally think they're hideous self mutilation. I could see if they were refused in the first place, but they had already previously let him in, so what changed? I feel bad for them, that must have been hell. But don't we all know how conservative these Arab countries are, and the miserable things they do to people? So if we're going to come up with a name for this kind of discrimination what will we call it? Tattooism?
  6. I don't think tattoos affect it. If hes already been in the country then the facial recognition scans already worked. The scans Identify features like eyes, noses, chins, jawlines, and computes distances and angles between. It works on Black people just fine, right? People with full beards?
  7. That actually might be the real issue. to have a passport, you have to have a face that looks like a face. face tattoos are fine if you want to be "unique" or a mobster, but don't expect everyone to jump on the bandwagon with you.
  8. I make no claims as to any expertise in Thai politics, but this looks like a circus to me.
  9. It's the economy, stυpid. (that's not the actual quote, it's the one people think he said)
  10. looks like a bunch of F students in electronics 101.
  11. You mean the one on Sukhumvit Soi 24? https://www.hilton.com/en/hotels/bkksuhi-hilton-sukhumvit-bangkok/
  12. "Teen". That's definitely the wrong age to be on Kao San. Because of his age I doubt he'll go to prison. Just deported and let his mommy and daddy whup his ɑss
  13. Despite these various political squabbles, which really don't affect regular people going about their lives, I can attest that, no matter what, Thailand is still an exponentially better place to live than the US, which is now under the control of a psycho felon, all of congress, and all of the supreme court, and they are doing serious damage to the US democracy and to the world economy. Trump was no doubt at least partly motivated in the Iran bombing by wanting to distract people away from confronting his systematic dismantling of democracy. Now he can play the hero, and people will fall for it. As to what I think, it's true that Iran's nuclear program posed enough of an immediate threat that the bombing was necessary to dismantle that threat, and the rest of the threat to its neighbors with its military. But I don't give it much thought as I'm happy to live in Thailand 8000 miles from US mayhem
  14. I don't want to hear anyone knocking phones ever again. Good thing it wasn't a gun. Happy for this lady, and for the rest of us that another psycho drunk is off the streets and won't do this again. Deportation or prison.
  15. If he was wearing the hat, yes. He thought the victim a wascowwy wabbit.
  16. To get drunk it was Jack Daniels on the rocks, otherwise it was beer or mixed drinks like vodka and cranberry. I quit in 2007, now I drink an occasional beer, and NEVER get drunk. Life has so much more to offer when you are sober. All the details you miss when drunk, plus avoiding jail for drunk driving (been there done that)
  17. Re read the story. You definitely missed that part. But there are easy ways to avoid these scams. NEVER, but NEVER hand your money over to any individual, or "brokerage" whose reputation you can't check on, or respond to unknown phone numbers or websites. Also, there's a wealth of info online about hoe to avoid scams, as well as some pretty funny youtube channels of scammers being baited and exposed and even arrested due to the work of hackers who hack into scammer computers and reverse the connection.
  18. It's too bad she didn't do her homework on scams and on good honest and safe investments. Certain rules apply. NEVER entrust your funds to another party. Do business either directly with the fund, or with a reputable and licensed broker. I did my research and picked a top rated fund whom I deal with directly, the company was #1 and #2 in its ratings. It's the Vanguard High Yield Index fund and has generated a return of over $100,000 on my initial investment of $150,000 in 2017. It pays a quarterly dividend of about $1100.00
  19. Sure, good, so long as they don't let Israeli ex military punks in to make trouble. Yeah, I know, there's no practical way to do that, but we can wish.
  20. These individuals with violent tendencies can usually be identified before the relationships get off the ground. There are always telltale signs, it's so sad that so many women don't figure it out out until it's too late. Very likely that his anger and violence issues led to her wanting to break up with the guy. So heartbreaking, so much suffering inflicted to the friends and family of the deceased. Rest in Peace.
  21. It's like cutting off one head and two more grow. The best thing is to recognize the commonality in all of these. Look for the telltale signs. In the US right now you get calls from "medicare" and a bot voice, then you get switched to someone with an Indian accent. I usually say "so when did medicare move its offices to India" or "how's the weather in India" then maybe something about them being morons or maybe going to hell when they die or bringing shame to your country and its people. Shoping is safe as long as you're observant. It's very unlikely that you'll run into any identity theft as long as you've been careful with your information and never give it to anyone but an established merchant. You needn't inconvenience yourself out of paranoia. I've never ever been the victim of a scam in my entire life, and in fact I turned tables on one scammer by sending her a fake check leading her to run around all over Bangkok to try to cash it. Just learn the patternes and be deligient is all you need to do. There's plenty of information online about how to avoid scams, such as never clicking on a link sent to you by an unknown source, and also never responding to any message that you don't already know the sender.
