hmm. not intending to visit China within the next weeks...BUT...i wonder....never ever had a problem applying for visa (China embassy Bangkok) in the past. Do we talk about an AMERICAN isuue here? Or a general western problem? As mentioned from a fellow swedish citizen here....is this problem an AMERICAN problem or a general problem? Just askin....
-
simple question....simple answer by somebody knowledged pls:
does a VIETNAM citizen need a visa to enter Thailand for tourist reasons? (less then 30 days)
webpage of Thai embassy Hanoi vs. comments from VN person to ask for are confusing to me.....that's why I am asking.
thx

this discussion made me think (great! finally i'm thinking) and i decided not to buy those kinda cds/vcds/dvds from suspicious places any longer.
went to Bangkapi Mall today.
Bought VCD (angkrit/thai) of "I am Legend" and viewed some hours later.
Perfect quality, no Suaheli subtitles and the price was......159 Baht.
no further comment necessary i guess

gosh, u r right man.....beeing in need 2 buy vcd-X HERE indeed is kinda weird. Nonetheless it is not the first topic where non-native-english-speaking-ppl receive unfair responses just because of their language....
-
It's amazing to me how people on this form are so quick to judge and flame others - the anonymity of the Internet at its ugliest. Dieter asked a perfectly innocent question looking for people who want to have conversations beyond the realm of beer, football and floozies. But no, we have to:
1) Pick out petty spelling errors from someone not native to the English language.
2) Call him a troll.
3) Insinuate he's into "Ganymede type" pleasures.
4) Start a flame war with other posters in his thread.
This forum is here for just the purpose Dieter made use of. Information, interesting stories and ideas. And to Dieter himself, if he's not yet given up on this thread - no clue, buddy. There are plenty of intellectual people in Pattaya, but we've all become products of the environment here, and we have to act brain dead just to fit in. Perhaps if we had a Philharmonic Symphony or opera venue....
pls allow me to second that comment.
even though i do NOT symphatize with germans (and he sure is a german) it is highly unfair to treat him like an idiot....

misspelling myself (not beeing an expat neither a native english speaker)....CRITIZISE
-
don't you expats think it's a bit unfair to critize somebody just because of misspelling BaHt and BatH? Disgusting, I thought this is an open forum for everybody....

current EMPORIUM "sale" is just a nice joke. Even 50% off their prices would be way overprized compared to US online shipping quotations (sent to europe).
Are there any ACTUAL reasonable good deals availabe within Bkk (or possibly Pattaya-) area?
MUST change my golfbag and possibly also looking for some Cobra fairway wood(s).
Bangkapi Mall?
your input(s) very well appreciated.
thanks
-
and you really think somebody wanna play GOLF with those?
sorry but not worth a single Baht.
well, a good reason for a beginner to quit playing with anykind of copy clubs---
-
those subtitles on thai-copy CD/DVD are english? really? u must be joking. i thought that language is Suaheli or something alike

KASIKORN, definitely best choice.
got internet access immediately.
used my tourist visa that time.
branches in tourist spots (pattaya or similar) won't amke you trouble, imho.

BTS: off Ratchathewi, take bus #16 A/C to Thewet.
MRT: off Petchaburi, take bus #23 via Partunam/Panthip to Thewet.
Lotsa buses from Thewet to KSR (5 minutes).
total cost (excluding MRT/BTS fees): less than Bht 20,-
total travel time: almost same as metered taxi.
Works fine for me, got a biz friend working between Thewet and KSR, always use that system.

Q: a neighbour of mine wants his g/f to visit him. Plain 3 month Schengen (tourist) visa needed. His pension income is just about 600 euros p.m. Could that be a problem upon application? (as far as I know there are no bank debts and another pension income of euro 100 p.m. from Switzerland). Thanks!
-
bob: bus ticket pty-bkk-pty is approx 240 baht. add bts charges onnut-siam-onnut 60 baht. makes a total of 300 baht.
still worth the deal?
cheers

thx SBK...will check and possibly report when return

KING COBRA F-Speed
Milled Titanium
460cc
either 9,5 or 10,5 loft
comes including 1 year WARRANTY and KingCobra "condom"
bought it today (Golf Sale Promotion week until 6 may 2007) for Bht 6900,00 (credit card no problem)
Somebody of you guys bought some golfing equipment there too recently?
Good deal or not? (price in europe is far more than 300 euros)

got PCMCIA 1-2-call package&modem (it is 5900 baht), have been using it whilst in Pattaya. Connection speed sukkks though. If there is no other choice and someone does not have 2 download something....it is, errrm acceptable. Not more not less than that.
I'd rather try to get connected with those above mentioned free-of-charge WiFi-spots....
BUT: my laptop battery is on a near-to-die-status......working for not more than 30 mins.
IS THERE ANY PLACE WITH WIFI (FREE) A N D ELECTRIC PLUGS ???
Thanks 4 infos (going Suv airport this saturday)
-
@ farangconnection:
just to be 100% sure about that.....
Surin airport IS or IS NOT open for Air Andaman flights (departing Bkk I assume) ?
Thanks

RMB15-25 for a beer in Bejing?
that sounds great to me if it was true.
Shanghai is far more expensive. I wished I could have got a TsingTao (chinese brand) for less than RMB50.
As about food .... onebir's excellent explanations might help BUT ONLY if you really like CHINESE food.
Again compared with Shanghai ... a medium tasty medium size Pizza in Shanghai - not available under RMB100.
Taxis can be really cheap but be aware of rip-offs at tourist spots.
Mazo: Looking forward to read your travel report. Enjoy China! It's a fantastic country.

arrived BKK safely and with no AustrianAirlines regrets whatsoever
confirm BC-flight was worth the try (flew on mileage upgrade, hence BC-ticket price was just below 1000euros)
Vienna airport BusinessClass Lounge: nothing, really nothing special. no hot food, few drinks, WLan and PSP-stations. Not more not less.
BC-seating: as mentioned earlier, quite old seating but approx 150 degrees for a bit more than a nap ... i cannot complain
BC-meals (dinner, breakfast): as mentioned as well, own chief cook preparing outstanding meals, great variety. Unfortunately no Jack Daniels ( )
BC-flight attendants: not as old as aircraft but - okay - not the youngest ones either.
This has been one of the last flights with older A330-type aircrafts. My flight back to VIE (april) already offers B777 aircraft which sound okay to me (yet to be confirmed).
Once again, there are far more worse european airlines on their way. Austrian used to be better in earlier times (both Business and Economy) and best time ever on OS seemed to be when flight has been operated thru LAUDA-Air which is unfortunately no more running.
-
@skippyBangkok
forgot to ask:
ASIDE from bad experience with the airline - i hope you enjoyed your austrian honeymoon.
Austrian Airlines is a Vienna based airline .... but austria itself is not only Vienna.
There are lotsa friendly people to be found all over austria and I am quite convinced your impression about the country itself was more than just okay, worthwhile a second visit (on Emirates via Munich I'd recommend).
Correct me if I am wrong.
and yes, I do work in tourism industry....
-
great!
gonna fly VIE-BKK on OS tonite!
wish me luck then...
naaaa folks.....i HOPE not to experience such kinda trouble coz it will be Business Class.
BUT my flight back late late april this year is in economy (new 777-200 plane, thats why I decided to choose cheaper) and - following your reports so far - I have to be prepared for worst.
All-in-all, there are far more other european airlines with worse service than Austrian. In particular, LTU, Finnair (as mentioned) and KLM.
Sometimes somebody just need to be lucky too.
