  1. Appreciate the OP sharing his experience. No harm in that. I'm happy here overall myself. But I give credit to @WineOh as there has been moments when I have seriously contemplated the extent or level in which this society loves mediocrity without much deviation person to person and for lack of a better word 'bland' when it comes to getting to know people the same way you would with westerners. To me, the question is, am I better than this? Surrounding myself with it. Slow life is slow for a reason. It's beautiful too.

Do what makes you happy is all you can do at the end of the day! Or work towards it!

these announcements are getting kind of scary. these people actually run a country. let that sink in.

And similarly to war supporting US administrations, some people actually still support them. Nowadays more than ever, is the rhetoric of the mainstream media reflected in the speech of those who watch the TV box too much. ????‍♀️

Are you really so ignorant of Thailand's history and culture that you sexualize an innocent image and interpret it from the sexually screwed up mindset of a farang? Have you not made an effort to understand the local historical culture?  Long before Europeans with their repressed and deviant sexual mores arrived in Asia, Africa and the South Pacific, the locals went around topless. Female breasts were not sexual objects as they were in Christian countries.   In plain language, that is an image common of ancient Siam and features a woman of some wealth.

    boobs-2

Above is mural paintings inside Wat Kaew, Chiang Rai. This is how women dressed in old Siam.

It is not pornography. Topless women were common up until the 1930's.

What the Mexican woman did was wrong because she sexualized a religious icon. It is no different than defiling  religious imagery and symbols of the Christian faith. The Mexican government would have been up in arms if she had posed lustfully with  a larger than life size religious icon of the Church of Rome.

I take it you also are against pictures of Muhammad? PBUH ???? Pretty much the same. I also don't think you can assume the Mexican GOV would do as you say. Maybe their society has matured enough for it to not be that big of an issue?

Watching The plot against America. Has alot of parallels with life today in the US. An alternative what if, about Lindbergh beating Roosevelt in the 1940 election, and taking a passivist approach toward WWII, and a somewhat supportive view of Hitler. Also a real insight into the Jewish American experience, in 1940's America. I remember growing up in the 1960's as a Jew. Got alot of flack and almost felt like a Black man at times. But, I am sure few experiences parallel being black in America. At least law enforcement left me alone, unless I was making trouble, which was often!

I feel like I'm black at times in LOS. 555 ????

Abuse of pets in this country is widespread. While this case is particularly atrocious I see/hear animal abuse every day. Dogs locked up in small areas. Never walked, never petted, just seen as another possession like a new car or iPhone to show others how rich they are as they can afford these luxuries. A country of animal lovers it isn't.

I don't think the industrial level of animal farming and processing within the USA is any better. I say, it comes down to the need for more concern in both societies.

I think I would take the Chinese -sourced vaccine as I have seen no scientific evidence that it is no good!

As far as ANY vaccine is concerned, there is no certainty of adverse long term side effects being ruled out.

I would take whatever approved vaccine is available out of obligation for my fellow man.

I appreciate this thoughtful post. I'm gonna wait it out as I am concerned about it being put out on the market too quickly.

  7. What if the guy was a falang? Do you honestly think this would be any different? ???? Maybe that is when the monk would have stopped it before the 'real wife' arrived.

Who knows if the monk even knew what was going on anyway though. Tough question considering how fast news spreads here. Now multiply that by falang. (Cheating X being farlang / TIT = ?) You're right! Just pay the money.

  8. Funny how there is this sort of 'love-hate' relationship towards foreigners. Typical, I suppose but there is something special about the one here. My guess as was already mentioned in the thread, extensions and visas will probably begin to require vaccination in the future.

Seeing talks about passports having vaccination information on them next. ????

  9. It's almost as if the concepts such as 'excellence' or 'improvement' are frowned upon within Thai schools. Excuse me, if I'm mistaken.

There is a reason why "I'm fine, thank you. And you?" has not improved much beyond that...

Here is a golden nugget takeaway. It's actually good most of the time to just keep the conversation to that depth anyway. 555 Don't be telling the neighborhood your business now! Ohhh, the bitterness! It's so bitter!
