Just ask for 'dork boon' (actually 'bpoon'), which means drill bit for concrete.  Or 'dork sawan boon' ) (power drill bit for concrete).

Don't ask for anything. Go to Thai Wassadu (?), and browse the aisles.

  2. Time to cut right down on international travel unless you're very well-off. Singapore, pre covid was $100 for a clean hotel. Got back yesterday after a month in Europe, and the Singapore hotels were $180 and $300 each. Both excellent. (Wanderlust and Owens House). The $100 hotels come with dirt, cockroaches, an old sock and ants. Disgusting! Singapore: the worlds biggest con.

More than a decade and a half ago I needed signficant dental work done in Australia.  I went to the dentist and got a written quote.  When the girl gave it to me I laughed in her face.  It was just over 18,000 dollars AUD.  I flew to Bangkok and had the work done at Prom Jai dental in Thong Lor.  The cost was just over 2,000 AUD all up.  And they keep asking me if I wanted a letter to claim if on insurance.

Extensive dental work and its high cost is regarded by dentists as the penalty patients pay for a lifetime of poor oral hygiene, laziness, and not having regular check-ups.

That may all very well be true, but it’s still no reason for those three guys to do what they did, is it? Just go on Youtube and see the astonishing number of videos of black men being harassed by (mainly) white people, just for entering the apartment building where they live, or sitting in the lobby of the hotel they’re staying at, or washing their car in the driveway of their own home, or being an estate agent going into a house to show it to potential clients. The list is endless. Racism is very much a part of life in the USA.

That's why the sentences given to those scum in the Arberry murder were so right!

    Indeed, I used to by 1000 x 10mg pills for 500 baht!

I also used to get it in Foodland, Pat Pong when it wasn't illegal to sell it here.

I would NEVER buy for my children, knowing the dangers of addiction with this drug.

Your daughter may need help. Guarantee the chronic pain is psychosomatic, and she's addicted. And it will get worse.

Unless there is something google isn't telling me, laser isn't ( yet ) used for cataracts, but for corneal shaping.

However, I'd never personally get laser treatment as if it goes wrong it would be disastrous ( and there is ALWAYS the chance that something will go wrong, which is why we have to sign a consent ).

Re the OP, this is NOT something to be done for cheapest cost. If it's done wrong it'll be a crisis. I've seen a few cataract surgeries that went wrong and not happy occasions.

Get the best you can afford.

Tell us something about the cataract surgeries you've seen that went wrong. Supposed to be rare, but a bit scary.

It is expensive. $200 a month in Thailand. I forgot to mention that. I brought a supply from Australia where it's covered by PBS although still expensive.

Out of curiosity, how can you tell if your INR in within therapeutic range? You should also state here for the benefit of others whether your decision to take an INR test only once a year was recommended or endorsed by a doctor or not.

In Australia it's $7 a month with a health card or pension. Otherwise, about $40/month. Real cost is almost $100/month. You can get Apaxiban in Thailand for about 3,500 baht, up to 5,000 baht, a month. An Indian generic, Apigat, is about 1,500/ month. One 6 month supply got through, but they confiscated my last lot, (no scrip), so in the end, not worth it! Better to go to Oz if you're a pensioner, and see the vascular guy, or the cardiologist, and try for 2 prescriptions; ie. 12 months supply. The savings will cover your airfare with Scoot or AirAsia!

Rule #1. Take your time getting to know her.

    Mistake #1. Rush in quickly.

How long did he know her for? How much time did they spend together?

I have known so many men, who come here, and from the very start, make the same mistakes they made back in the West. Except here, they do not need to make those mistakes. The environment does not dictate that they behave like lambs. Many do not know, or realize that, or they succumb to "force of habit". Every ship needs a captain. If the man is not willing to be the captain of the ship, the woman will take over, here in Thailand. Most women here seem to want a strong man. But, if they end up with a wimp, they will take over. They have to. Someone needs to be the captain!

Time allows clarity. Never, ever move too quickly. That is the undoing of most of these guys. Lastly, do not get hung up on them, emotionally. Have some fun. Get to know them. Take your time. Always remember, if it is good, it is only going to get better. If there are problems, they will reveal themselves over time. Time is your ally. It is rarely their ally. They are usually trying to step up the timetable. We need to push back. We need to assert control. We need to be honest, and let them know we are not interested in an immediate relationship. Something might develop, but if you are in a hurry, I am NOT YOUR GUY. An environment like this allows us to set boundaries, and take our time. Take advantage of that. Be a man. Step up. Pay tribute to the gender. Refuse to lay down anymore. Refuse to be a doormat. Refuse to check your cajones at the door.

Have you found that most girls you meet want to punch you in the face and can't stop?

Oh do me a favour mate. They are universal guidelines, not restricted to the UK.  Anyone should be able to see that, clearly not in your case.

Thailand has rabies, the UK doesn't. Your ignorance is so typical.

Is the dog vaccinated against, among other things Rabies? Dogs teeth are full of all kinds of nasty bacteria, so a good wash out with blue alcohol and an antiseptic plaster is sensible.  The case for a tetanus jab is more debatable. If you say your dogs never leave a protected garden then I probably wouldnt bother, but if you would feel happier,  then go ahead.  Just don't let the clinic give you the whole rabies treatment, if your dogs are protected.   This from the UK NHS help line:

See a GP or contact NHS 111 if you're concerned about a wound, particularly if:

    • the wound is deep
    • the wound contains dirt or a foreign object
    • you have not been fully vaccinated against tetanus
    • you're not sure whether you have been fully vaccinated against tetanus

NHS guidelines don't apply to Thailand.

    Bang Keow.

Two dogs were growling near one of their dinner bowls. The big one then bit the small one, so I grabbed the big one by the scruff and he turned round and bit me.

As I've been told many times never touch a dog when eating but I was saving the smaller one.

Your own dogs should NEVER bite you!

The dentist should be able to remove the crown. I think the adhesive they use is sensitive to certain  wavelengths of light, so they can shine a particular light  on the crown and it softens the glue so they  can remove it.

Have a look at Thanatakit International Dental in Bangkok  https://www.thantakit.com

    They do crowns, and implants.

I have used them and was happy with their work.

A bit of science fiction there!

I am certainly not in a position to give you specific advise on your condition however Prostate Cancer is extremely slow growing.

Typically in the USA after 65 they do nothing unless there is clear evidence that the cancer has reached the point where it is likely to spread outside of the prostate.

My doctor many years ago told me that even young men coming back from Vietnam during autopsies were found to have the very beginnings of prostate cancer.  He said for the vast majority of people they will die with the cancer, not from the cancer.

He also said that modern medicine had created a dilema.  It had allowed physicians to see conditions very early but that presents the dilema.  What do you then do.  The vast majority of time treatment is worse than the disease.  The removal of the prostate, or radiation has significant side effects.  He stated in most instances vigilant monitoring was the best course for you were far more likely to die from other causes than the prostate cancer.

It's the 2nd biggest killer of men in Australia. Watchful waiting is for the very old. If it spreads out of the capsule, you'll probably be dead within 10 years. If you're 85 this doesn't matter. If you're 65 it could matter! And, a radical prostaectomy is major surgery. I don't know morbidity figures for different ages, but the older the worse. My advice, for what it's worth, is don't wait. Have the biopsies. Sexual impotence is better than the alternative!

  14. How many legs have you got? Could be vascular insufficiency. Incurable, but you can try to stop it getting worse, with good compression socks, (20-30 mm.Hg.), and elevation. Or you could even see the doctor and have ultrasounds etc.

This man just might have found his happiness, after being in a closed mind society back home, with difficult family members ,who care  more about themselves than him. He probably led a very lonely life.Good luck to him, he s found someone and a family ! How great is that. And don’t knock rubbish collectors, they pick up your s ..t .

I wouldn't call Belgium a closed mind society. A community with many interests from suicide bombing to mass paedophilia! When the chips are down they don't waffle about! (And the world's best beer).

  16. The Thai passport has become much better for travel over the last 20 years. The first thing I did once I got married was to get her Australian citizenship. (Only took 2 years residence in Oz in those days.) But before we were married, it was a racist, insulting nightmare. Hassle after hassle, and usually the immigration stooges were <deleted> themselves! Now, of course, the Thai passport gives visa free entry to a lot more countries.
