How long it takes to handle a gun properly (easy for you, load and shoot, what you hit isn't important but the sh*t you are in then.. 

 

and how long takes it to train a dog or better two.

 

I got myself 2 scar-faced street-dog Puppies, Bang Kaew Shepard mix I estimate.

They are a bit stubborn at the beginning, but when you make them a comfortable home, get a scooter with a side car (they will love it and you)

and train them every day 15 min just the basics or as I use to say: 

 

My doggies rules:

 

- A hand of a stranger will feed you? Get the whole hand and stay off the food.

 

- Does a stranger carry something from your turf, block the door and keep him on the ground (unfortunately Thai dogs don't mind the difference of someone carries something in or carries something out, like a Lazada Courier, a misunderstanding that kept the poor guy 6 hrs laying in the sun on the lawn)

 

- Mum yells for help just go ballistic and make no Prisoners at all, but if mum is laughing screaming and brother Ae throws her into the pond have fun and join the game. They can well separate from serious fear or fun.

 

- somebody approaches you with a raised stick and a bang (Firework will do) might be shocking but after a while they

switch to teamwork, move to be no target, show teeth, growl and let the brother come from behind, then go both ballistic.

 

Last most important:

If you go out with daddy or mum in the public, there is no enemy, no treat and all in the Pub or the house you visit are nice people. Stalking is fine as learned, attacking only on command.

But be aware if you command the dog ATTACK it can count as using a gun!!

If they do it on their own on your turf its counting as a guard dog and the thiefves are fair Game!

 

More work than buying a gun but sure keeps you out of any trouble.

Better get a puppy of the street, invest 1500 baht for cleaning and vaccination and it will turn over into a great thankful friend. Just watch a group of dogs, the Alpha Puppy are clear to point out after a few days watching. Its the same in Indonesia I was in January till April, 300000 IDR for a good Hotel sound a lot but is just 25 US$.

Hence when you go to a Bank and change 500 $ they throw a crap load of worthless paper at you and as fast it comes as fast it goes..  

Or you have been simply ripped off big time, big nose = big wallet as everywhere in Asia. 

Law cases till 10000 baht are not opened at the Thai court. 

In that Moment you offered 50% you have been shrinking the case to 10000 baht and the Chinese Company wins 1:0.

 

Lucky you, coz the Lawyer would have costs the minimum Charge of 10000 baht and to open the case another 10000 baht, hence you would probably win and end up with unfortunate a win win situation 1:1.

 

They might have a Facebook page: batter them there until you get blocked or at least another promise.?

 

 

Proof monthly income is a bit tricky.

Once I tried and I was asked to provide income slips, working contracts (i am freelancer) and finally I gave up and asked if it would make more sense to show my bank books. 

800.000 baht min required to show.. well I got my stamp without any hassle.

Just be aware that it takes 21 days so be in time before your 30 day stamp expires in the progress.

Then your passport comes back and you have to make a visa run.

 

If you can't show 800k deposited on a saving account go to a Visa Service they may can help

for around 20k you get the 3 month Tourist plus 12 month non O retirement Visa incl re-entry permit. 

Leaving Thailand.. it can have so many reasons.

the bones are failing is sure one when you have the NHS for free but have to pay a good Hospital in LOS. 

Changes politically and personally (lost friends) is another.

and so 1000's of more that make you stay or go.

 

The life style is a self created that can bring you down.

anger about changes is also self created as the world lives from changes

BUT the exploding population of the world that makes these changes necessary is not in an individual's hand..

 

Let me tell how I came here.. 20 years ago I was in South America and the Latinas were for me the most beautiful until I got a massive ashtray into me face for no reason just out of a temper.

 

Then I had a Job in Asia but Singapore was too expensive, hence over 2 years on Pulau Langlawi I came to Thailand.

I adapted fast to the Thai way and actually was happy I could leave the (self built up) necessary Latin Temper behind me. This is not me. 

 

After 7 years there was the moment where my own words hit me like a hammer, my golden rule. I actually said it many times but understanding is another thing, just like reading a story or the words of a story:

 

"it takes 2 days to say I am gone but it takes 7 years to say I am here" 

 

I found a way to make a living, i found a way to build up more pension than I ever will get in Germany after 30 years of work. And I am myself, that what I want to be, see the changes here and in Europe and understand, I can't stop it but Europe would take me into risk to moan again more and more..

 

Funny: Here in this thread there are all the minds and personalities together.

 

Some characters that I would ignore in my favorite Pub but also soft speaking people who just want to speak and comment.. 

But I have no influence on the people who react rude, arrogant or nice, I can only take or ignore..

so also the changes in life, changes the politics bring and changes in the social structure.

They are everywhere on the world.

I plan my live, I plan even my days and beside this there is in LOS no difference. 

Going back home brings you in the same situations, you need to look for friends if your friends leave or die, and you need to ignore some personalities. It doesn't help to complain or beg how to overcome pain and wear and tear of the bones.. The train is gone so use a bus.

My knees are wrecked by climbing wind turbines, I loved the Job to be a ruff boy so I had to swap it for a desk what i never wanted. Not in Thailand not in Germany.

But that is not a reason to leave back to Germany. 

Where Do you want to live, where are you really happy? 

The question is easy without thinking the Consequences like at home people will say:

"he didn't make it, look another looser returns...."

That's easy to reply:  "it was nice and beautiful but somehow I was homesick, I had a good time but the heart was always in my home land"

 

I feel the opposite. I miss Thailand and feel with all of my heart home.

In April I was at my parents for 3 weeks standby to the next job..

After 2 Weeks I thought why I didn't go home I am lonely here even at the house of my Parents.. 

 

Last a true joke:

"Oh Lord (Bhudda) let me win in the Lottery" you say it every day,

until a voice from the heavens returns: "go and buy a Ticket you fool and don't bother me anymore"

OK i am often in Europe due to my Jobs but I see how fast it goes downhill there gives me goosebumps.

Appointment for a doctor up to 6 month (!!!)

Income Tax for Freelancer 50% above in Germany

Health insurance 600 EUR month minimum.. 

 

I am a bit of a Family man:

Laying on the Sofa in Front of the TV with my wife in the arm

go for a swim with no wintertime

driving my bike with no winter break

loving my (tropical) garden and my Crayfish in my Aquariums

planning in the week a Sunday trip 

 

might sound boring but my Grandparents and Parents did so and I still enjoy the home atmosphere. 

But when I step out of my door, Palm trees, warm, good neighbors well and some of my friends dies or left,

that's sure significant changes.. but wouldn't it be the same in Germany?

 

the modern fast living world catches everywhere up also in LOS,

but still it stops in front of my gate.

I am not that picky as long I can be happy..

After long research its the common 10cm cinderblock or lightweight concrete Block for rough 5.5 baht a go. Covered Pond liner from VSC are here the best and cheap. 

My mate is good in construction things and he recommended good foundation poles in the ground is essential for long life.

Just received a message that my wife has bought 1 more aquarium for her crayfish fry. 

As the backyard is full the living room has to provide now more space, lets see when the TV and my office desk flies on the street for the garbage workers LOL.

She takes the fry as soon hatched out of the berries from the mothers and separates them, the survival rate is going much higher as not so many getting eaten by the mother. 

The water she tries to color by using coco coir and she said that they move more around. In the clear water the fry is balling up obviously as a protection against predators.

the blue barrels were a first step, same way, cutted in half using a bell siphon (just in the opposite corner for max flow through) 

Then the barrels got scrapped according to the needs and wishes of my wife and new blue barrels have been bought to be used as 3 then 4 filter system. And so my entire backyard changed into a Landscape of blue pipes, concrete Buckets with ebb flow beds and a dutch bucket system.. 

And even due to lack of space 6 x 4 chamber baby aquariums into the living room.

 

There was a day over 5 years ago my wife, her aunt and nephew were p*ssing themselves laughing. Look what Lung Will does but after they have harvested the first salads, onions in half the time and twice the size they went into it.

And the wishes came: I have seen on google this, can you add it to the system? So the pump grew from an aquarium pump to a 12000 ltr/hr pump, the filters made from garbage bins to blue barrels and as they didn't catch up with the ammonia the 6 x 120 ltr ebb flood beds came into the game.. 

 that's where we are now, done upgrades and changes sometimes all 2-3 month when I came back from a job and also now I know already when I leaving the Vessel in the North sea, in about 1 week the story picks up with me.

 

But anyway I am happy how my wife and Thai family is now keen learning the way from an urban farmer to a modern farmer and how happy and proud they are with their own results. 

As this is the Aquaponics forum and I have long ago joined a treat under red claw crayfish I have a question (more than one) 

 

I went my own way to design an aquaponics system based on knowledge from my relatives in the Netherlands who have big size hydroponic farms and own knowledge from ships (yes, offshore Vessels and Constructions) plus mechanical and electrical background gathered from my work offshore. 

As I said in the more than 5 years planning I had a lot of OOPSes and Loops as the Netherlands and North sea is not the Land of Smiles.. 

 

Here some Questions:

 

- pumps I sourced at Ruangsangthai as they are well stocked and I hope to get a reply soon. May be somebody has even a better idea where to look for energy efficient high flow pumps (60.000 ltr/hr would be perfect) 

aliblahblah offers a huge amount (made in china and India crap) and somehow I have the felling that it will smell like tons of dead fish using them.

European pumps like Blue Eco = 4300 EUR a go multiplied by 52 pieces plus tax and transport would be roughly 1/3rd of my complete 95x100m greenhouse and fish farm building incl all tanks and grow beds. Thanks but no thanks!

 

- Rockwool cubes (grodan). I found a hydroponic supplier who sells foam blocks but the seed germination rate was 10% even following accurate the instruction. Also it looked more that he wrecked down a sofa at the motorbike taxi stand and sold me the foam filling.

Coco Coir is about 75% healthy seedlings but in aquaponics only a 2nd choice for me. 

 

- Last and most tricky question:

I said already I planned to put red claw crayfish into the grow beds. 

Tank culture does usually not bring any market size Crays but with a special grow bed design of 7.5 x 50 mtr x 50cm deep I am sure the size and growing speed will drastically improve.

I have made now 2 years long experiments focusing on how the Crays behave, as I expected they will go like the "axe through the forest" with my veggie roots.

But after double and triple check the phenomenon, the opposite was the case.

The crays were climbing busy as never seen before through the roots, hiding and picking selectively the rotten parts out and more healthy and faster growing plants were the result.

Also they kept the bottom of the tanks (used as grow beds) neatly and clean beside leaving piles of their own from me and my wife high valued "releasements" after our garden plants showed us where the 'frog the curls has' ? (see picts) and created a thick jungle. Bananas Stems have reached about 50cm diameter and the Chicken Flower had 10m Vines with 1000's of flowers. Almost the entire Village made photos and so one wedding couple under a sea of flowers.

Solids in grow beds can be another issue but my biggest worries is since begin how to harvest all the good high value crap and gets it as a high end fertilizer on the market.

The combo grow bed and housing design is now completed.

They crays will be happy with a good flow through their housings and as soon the occupy a condo the flow rate with high pressure clean the crow bed..

How to achieve that? ...my Secret ? 

 

Back to the question.

As Aquaponics are more common in AUS and the US I believe there are farmers who already introduce crayfish directly into their grow beds and just don't tell it because they fear comeptition.

Google knows almost nothing about this. Some backyard farmers tried but most made engraving mistakes and the crays ended up in the entire system where they created more or less a huge mess. 

I overcame this with some Ideas from Ships, Wind Turbines and ...my secret ? 

But what we all know is the Aquarium effect. Put a fish in a small tank and he will stay small get him a bigger home and he grows leave him in the river he turns one day into a Game Fish.. 

Making an Aquaponics grow bed big, deep enough, good aerated, self cleaning and put you BBQ as work power in that pays you at the end for the good job (Remember I said before, the life stock is a minus until breaking even business in aquaponics, do not even think about making profit, no you won't! But you need the pee to get Bio Veggies and yes you can even after all feeding costs reaching the breaking even marker ...my secret ? 

 

Off cause I f we are living far apart in LoS and you are planning also to feed a bigger city in the hood we might have to share some secrets. In total I must have spent a few million quit for my test system(s) and secrets and sure sharing knowledge would have saved a coin but as I said before, I went and purposely wanted to go my own way. 

Nelson and Pade and Friendly Aquaponics sell you a system from the shelf but there are still many improvements to make to get it optimized in LoS. 

So does mine .... my secret ?
