  1. Filipinos are the best due to their English language skills and Thai appearance.
  2. Third world people need to learn that there are meat other than dog meat.
  3. Don't be shy, talk to them and waste their time. After 10+ more times, they will learn not to call you.
  4. 83 years old and still have to work. An example of no social safety net. Some people think that the whole world is lucky like them.
  5. " " comments about Indians sharing a single can of coke or Chinese tourists defecating in public or spitting on restaurant floors are repeated endlessly while ignoring that many tourists coming from these countries are far wealthier than many Westerners. " " It takes time to rid themselves of third world habits. Western countries still have higher average incomes. No every third world tourist has bad habits, but all bad habits are shown by third world tourists.
  6. Don't worry about them, they are survivors. 100+ years of famine later, they are still doing ok.
  7. I talk to them and waste their time. After 12 incidents, they are now afraid to talk to me.
  8. The above list only applies to people with high $$ medical insurance. The cleaning lady earning 500B/day with no fringe benefit and the vendors in wet markets selling stinky live chickens only get medicines developed in the 1950s. The showcase Thai government hospitals have up to date medicines, but you need luck to be admitted into those showcase hospitals. Go to those wet markets and see how many 60+ year olds with swelling ankles. Very few 60+ year old Americans with swelling ankles due to the advancement of heart & hypertension medications.
  9. Charge the tourists 300usd/day for covid hospital stay, and use the earned $$ for treatment of ordinary Thais.
  10. I think it only happens in high income countries. People in low income countries work any job for a meal.
  11. Only low income countries care about covid infections. God didn't bless everyone. When I travel, I always have 50,000usd emergency medical insurance.
  12. I am referring to ordinary Thais, for example, the vendors in wet markets with stinky live chickens and pot hole floors, and the cleaning ladies earning 500 B/day with no fringe benefits. Western retirees with usd2000+ per month, and tourist with 50,000usd emergency medical insurance are not ordinary Thais. Do ordinary Thais using 30B medical benefits have access to Minimally Invasive Orthopedic Surgery ? ? In the USA, even poor people living on government benefits have access to Minimally Invasive Orthopedic Surgery. Yes, the showcase government hospitals in BKK, Chiangmai and Udon Thani have in house MRI. But how about the big government hospitals in poor provinces that no tourist ever goes to ? Do those hospitals have the $$ for an in house MRI ? Even now when I go to stinky wet markets to buy baby bananas, I can still easily spot 60+ year old local people with swollen ankles. The condition was common in the USA up until 30 years ago, but not anymore due to the advancement of hypotension and heart medicines. All I am saying is " Advance medicine takes much $$ to develop. " Just look at the covid vaccines the ordinary Thais have easy access to. It is not mRNA vaccines. I do not look down at the ordinary Thais because with some bad luck, I could be one of them.
  13. A mild case of long covid means nothing to us because of our wealthy country social social nets. A mild case of long covid could mean permanent poverty for an entire Asian family. In many Asian countries, social safety nets exist only on paper, like there is no prostitution in Thailand.
  14. The ent doctor in the USA use fiber optic scopes, but the Thai ent doctor use mechanics inspection mirrors. In the USA all big city hospitals have in house MRI machines. I do not think Thailand can afford that. I got bronchitis and was prescribed six different medicines by the Pattaya government hospital. I looked up the medicines online and found all six were developed in Europe around 1950s. In the USA I got one Z pack and one over the counter cough syrup, and it completely cured my bronchitis in five days. Wealthy Thai come to the USA for advance treatments. Americans come to Asia for advance treatment ? The 30 baht treatment should work well for simple cases. Medical technology takes $$ to develop. Thailand has been a developing country for the last 50 years and is still developing. Comparing wealthy country medicine and developing country medicine is like comparing an eagle to a chicken. I have much respect for Thai doctors, but I feel fortunate not having to rely on developing country medicines.
  15. You can afford high quality medical insurance, not the ordinary Asians. God blessed you, but not everybody.
  16. Doctors wear theirs' in the covid ward, people wear theirs' to look smart like a doctor
  17. Ordinary Asians know that their medical facilities are one notch below that of western countries. Asia didn't have much of an economy before the 1980s, but Europeans has been filthy rich for 200 years. Asia still have little in terms of social safety nets when compared to most European countries. Having long term covid reduced lung capacities means long term poverty. God blessed me, but " God didn't bless most Asians ".
