BS. Except for Yanks, Brits, and Aussies, our other farang brothers can continue to get income statements from their embassies to allow their renewal of extension of stay. Except now they can't, as their embassies are closed. So, why would these folks show up at Immigration with incomplete documentation? No, this is an obvious case of where the amnesty includes those here on retirement (or marriage) annual extensions of stay. I can't believe this will be too hard to sort out when the gates finally open. Even the Thais can, occasionally, show common sense.

BS really,  perhaps you need to check your facts and good luck when trying to obtain retirement/marriage extensions after 31st July if you have used the " amnesty " !!

What you seem to be saying or suggesting is that people here on an annual extension (based on retirement or marriage, for example, and whose annual extensions naturally expire by July 31st) need do nothing in the interim is extremely dangerous and incorrect advice in my opinion.  The only wise and risk-free thing for those people to do is to go to Immigration and extend as usual (that guarantees no adverse consequences, loss of extension, overstay fines, etc.).  I've seen no language in the officially issued police/Immigration orders that expressly or clearly applies the July 31st routine to the annual extensions I've mentioned.

Totally agree, for those here on 1 year extensions ie. retirement or marriage, the amnesty until the 31st July is not applicable.  Why should it be, it was offered for those unable to return to their home Country or extend visas due to the Corona Virus limitations regarding travel.

Actually, no better time to extend 1 year retirement/marriage exts. until the 31st July, Immigration offices are quiet !

The general consensus is 90 day residence reports are not required due to the latest ministerial order on 8 April.

I am asking if yearly extensions of stay are not covered by section 2 of that order where in law does the minister have the power to disapply immigration act 37(5) ( 90 day reporting) , for persons not covered by section 2 .

Immigration Act section 5 allows the minister to issue regulations for the execution of the act.

In executing section  17 of the immigration act a ministerial order is issued.

Section 2 of the issued ministerial order , defines the group of aliens allowed to stay as special case. The sub sections , namely 2(1), 2(2) and 2(3) are the conditions attached to the execution of immigration act section 17.

Thus where in law does the minister have the power to issue to persons not covered by section 2 of the ministerial order a disapplication of 37(5).

cleopatra2 your time is up, get a life!

According to the article Phuket immigration chief did not say the amnesty applies to yearly extensions. He says it applies to all visas including 1 year

OK, so go ahead on that basis and perhaps the Immigration Chief will help you or NOT on renewal of your next yearly extension, good luck !!

My info is 100% correct. It's not my fault you don't understand the amnesty. Get your facts straight before you complain. FYI,Phuket immigration didn't come up with the amnesty.

Agree totally and the Phuket article makes no mention of retirement/ marriage extensions, the amnesty covers visa extensions for foreigners here temporarily only.

  6. A friend has been asked for proof that the 800000 baht has come from overseas by an Agent to process the ext. at CM Immigration ? I am aware that the monthly 65000 has to be confirmed as coming from overseas.  Anyone been to CM Immigration recently using the 800000 method, I have not been asked, did mine in September, not with an Agent  ?

Just went to Immigration to extend my Non-O visa and wanted to let everyone know how it went given the change over the past few months along with the virus.

5:50 arrived at airport. 30th in line

7:00 about 60 people in line, parking lot almost full, man wearing volunteer sweater started going down the line reviewing paperwork.

7:15 the doors opened and they started the queue

7:50 got my queue number (O20, 21, 22 family of 3) and sat down to wait for the rest of the officers to arrive. It was just the 3 officers at the queue desk at that point.

8:30 the rest of the officers arrived and started taking numbers and processing applications.

10:00 our number was called to turn in documents

10:30 passport with extended visa returned and out I went.

At the time I left (10:30) the queue numbers being served were: O28, TF7, RE3, C4,

Overall, it took a while  (4.5 hours) and if you don't arrive early 5:30-6:30 you probably won't be finished before lunch. But it went smoothly (we had all the documents we needed) just be prepared to wait and sit a while, but there wasn't any confusion/yelling/issues as I have read about before. All the officers were polite and respectful. At about 8:30 another "volunteer" arrived who was helping people get the right paperwork while they were waiting/before they got to queue desk. He was a westerner and seemed to be very knowledgable and helpful to people. There were still a fair amount of people coming with applications that needed to be done at promenade mall, they were notified of the switch and left for the mall.

There were officers going around taking temperatures and recording them on your applications. Don't know what they did if you have a fever, but they seem to be taking it into account.

Why go 5.50 am , come on too many people do not think and complain, go mid afternoon and you will still get what ever required or go online for 90 days or TM30

The post was related to online and by post but as you were in and out in 5 minutes I guess it would be useful if you told people what time you went in.

I guess that does not include travelling time there and back.

Too many comments here are from people with too much time to critisise , who cares how long the travelling time was ! So some people want to make constructive comments and advice !  Please get a life or if a 90 day report is too much for you, whether online, post or in person, why are you here !

FYI  I do it online and takes maybe 5 minutes and is approved within hours !

Its not bad luck, its corruption plain and simple.  They want to make it so you have problems attempting to do the extension yourself so you use an agent.  Money was tight right now so I wanted to save 9000 THB and do it myself, and, I would have been able if, they gave me a complete list of what was needed, AND, if they checked the documents.  Me and my wife did not tell the police they were wrong, but said that the previous times we were there they did not tell us that we needed those documents.  What would you have done?  Thanked them for wasting another day of your time?  The initial pre-checking of the documents took all of 10mins.  It would NOT be a mess if everyone did that, as people would show up with all paperwork correct, instead of sitting in an overcrowded room for hours and multiple times.  On the 3rd day we witnessed a couple doing the extension just to be told the same as us, missing some documents.  And this keeps happening over and over.  Why is it when I go to renew my drivers licence here I first visit to obtain the list of whats required, then return with said items and everything goes smoothly?

So you want to compare a driving licence renewal to an extension !

The problems at Immigration are in the most caused by people who do not prepare documentation, you say that it's your 9th extension, so surely you know what the requirements are. In addition, as those of us who don't have problems, prepare and have with us all possible additional papers that might be asked for, it's so simple to be " prepared "   This year will be my 14th extension, always straight forward, documentation as previous year and a file just in case.   Never used an Agent and never will, one time a year, I can cope with that !

Another tip, go mid week and mid afternoon !

A few days? I thought you had to report within 24hrs?

OK the guidelines say 24 hours,  but I have never had a problem and it is understood that if you have just returned on a flight from say Europe, for example, they do not expect you to register within 24 hours.

But to do so within a realistic time.
