This is the same uninformed guy that said that Social Security is a Ponzi Scheme. He has no business delving into the Government entities without expert supervision by both parties. To watch Trump and Musk talk continual lies is disgusting. Trump is running a Criminal enterprise consisting of billionaires.. Lies and conspiracy theories abound. I fear for my continued Social Security payments with these crooks in charge! I paid into my entire life…no it is not an entitlement! Eliminate the FICA cap and save Social Security! Support Bernie Sanders!

Apple plans $500 billion US Investment with 20,000 Jobs
PumpkinEater replied to Social Media's topic in World News
Yea yea, will this be another Foxconn (Wisconsin project) that spent millions and NEVER MATERIALIZED? Sounds to me like a ploy to lower taxes for the corporations (as now the budget is being discussed) and rich! I’ll believe it when I see it. Trump Scam scam scam. The world doesn’t need AI, why is it being shoved down our throats? Freakin tech nuts -
USM airport runway too short for a 777. Surat thani would be closer as well but Bangkok Air does not have company equipment to service the emergency and hospitals may be farther from the airport. Also at cruise altitude decent back into BKK would be operationally preferred. A judgment call from the flight crew per the seriousness of the particular incident. Usually a full investigation will follow up the incident. Cheers!

Thailand Eyes $9 Billion Jackpot with Casino Ambitions
PumpkinEater replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
The people voted in a poll that gambling is not an good idea for Thailand, and I agree. The greedy powers need this though so I guess it will pass. Unfortunately Thailand is becoming more and more “Westernized”… Here is a novel idea for you rich greedy folks: Purchase tractors and plows for the farmers, and eliminated the burning so we all can breath! Now THAT would be helping sociaty!- 40 replies

We should’ve had Electric (quiet) motorbikes required on the islands and tourist areas years ago. Go to China and this is all you see. Gas is passed tense! Noise pollution sucks -

Tourists without a Thai Drivers license should NOT be allowed to rent motorbikes. Some drive responsibility, but the majority that I see are causing havok riding like idiots! -
WISE just shut me down!
PumpkinEater replied to PumpkinEater's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
Ok you were right. I went into the personal details and updated to Thailand address. The repercussions of stating Thailand as my “Country of residence” will hopefully be minimal. Also there is a hold n the account now until they sort out my new address input. Cheers -

I too have two US bank accounts, and both of them need updated addresses every year. So far they have “accepted” my mail center address but threatened to shut them down if I cannot prove my US residence. -

I’ve been using WISE transfers monthly for the past two years during my retirement without issue, transferring money from my USA bank account to my K bank account. I tried the normal WISE transfer yesterday and there was a red notice that I had to update my information. So I went in and saw that all was ok with my information and tried to continue. Again I was denied and called the WISE people who told me that I now need a physical address in the USA and that it cannot be a “mailbox”. I asked about who was behind this regulation and they sent me an email that the “Financial Crime Enforcement Network (FCEN) was behind this new requirement. My concern as a US Citizen is the “whats next” question? Are they working on cancellation of overseas living or retirement? Will they cancel my Citizenship and therefore my Social Security because I don’t own a home in the US anymore? Quite disturbing activity by the powers involved… Any other folks out there having this problem? Cheers! -
Amari is best stay by far but over your budget. The Place hotel is near your price (1200) and within walking, clean, quiet. Walk across the bridge to Amari and out the back of the Amari…cross the small canal and immediately turn right then left and walk to The Place hotel. 12 minute walk. Cheers

Chaos on Pattaya Beach: Drunk tourists fuel brawls in hotspot
PumpkinEater replied to snoop1130's topic in Pattaya News
Thailand is slowly becoming like “Western UNcivilization”. Fighting, disrespect of laws and each other… And what should we expect from generations growing up in war torn countries (And coming to Thailand) with no regard for human civility. Grow up witnessing killing, corruption, and lawlessness, and this is what we become. Thank our war machine (money making) politicians for this. Sad that the local charm of Thailand is slowly diminishing from this riff raff. Cheers -

Foreign Pilot Approval Raises Concerns for Thai Aviation
PumpkinEater replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I would say (as a forced retired airline captain due to the age restriction), that there are many VERY EXPERIENCED pilots out here “sitting on our thumbs”… fully capable with a lifetime of experience that would love to get back into the cockpit. Changing the pilot age rule to accommodate the possibility of pairing old experienced guys with a under 65 (for safety) could go a long ways to ease the pilot shortfall. Sidelining a lifetime of experience due to age is a tragedy. Pilot retirement should be predicated on mental capabilities and physical testing, not some arbitrary age… Cheers
