  1. OP - many thanks for the suggestion, perhaps I should look at buying a new laptop. My first one, a Packard Bell circa 1996 was built like the proverbial "brick s....". I was based in UK but flying to and traveling in ASPAC every couple of months visiting farms. I only gave it up for something new as it had run out of memory.
  2. OP - at my age in years and mental ability I even forget what to write on my shopping list
  3. OP - just couldn't give up an old and trusted friend.
  4. OP - Sorry forgot to ask "What is a good alternative to Kaspersky for a 4 year old ACER laptop with Win7 ???
  5. I originally had a "Total Security 1 Device" package 3 years ago. When it expired I replaced it with a Kaspersky "Total Security 3 Devices" package. No problems. It expires tomorrow. In Central Khon Kaen I asked a computer shop ( Banana ) is it ok to replace with a "1 Device" package, fine they said. They gave me a "Renewal for Existing User Only" box for 1 device. I have tried to complete the registration process but each time I get a message saying "Error - not the same package. No refund is allowed on opened box. Guess I have been screwed
  6. I understand that if a British person dies here who is not married to a Thai then a next of kin must authorize whoever is arranging the funeral and notify the embassy. I am currently having to arrange this with my daughter in the UK and am using a separate Will for this.
  7. Khon Kaen is my nearest big town. Does anyone know where I can buy the boxed Kaspersky complete with CD ? Tried a few places in Central but no joy. I know it's considerably more expensive than "box only",
  8. Have used Kaspersky on my laptops for years. Still learning even the basics of an Android smart phone. Is it worth using Kaspersky with the phone ? How easy is it to install ? Any hints ? NB - I intend to use Kaspersky from CD even though it's more expensive. Thanks
  9. OP - Thanks for all the comments. As I am from UK those relating to UK issues are very helpful. However, I am still confused over the key issues. of releasing the body for cremation even after contacting the UK Embassy in Bangkok. A daughter in the UK is nominated as executor of my Will that at present relates only to bank accounts in UK. The Embassy in Bangkok has said that I cannot be cremated without a "legal / signed permission" of next of kin. ( I had thought that a legally signed document in English and Thai nominating a friend in Thailand would be able to follow my written wishes for funeral ). So does it now mean that I must make a new UK Will ( inc bank / cremation ) or separate Wills for bank and cremation ? For the Thai end a Will solely relating to funeral ? Can anyone recommend a lawyer in Khon Kaen who is au fait with the laws etc.? Example do I need a copy / details of passport / ID card ( Thai ) for all concerned ? Who can witness signatures for UK Will in relation to cremation ? Any ideas of approximate costs ? Sorry if this is confusing for readers too.
  10. As I am not married according to UK embassy i understand that i have to have a next of kin give their permission for me to be cremated.
  11. OP - Thanks for your comments. I have left a DNR at my local hospital and in some hospitals in Khon Kaen. When I was hospitalised following being found on the floor due to a stroke ( 3 days ) the doctor waited until I was fully conscious before asking if my DNR was still valid. I was sent to Khon Kaen where the hospital asked the same question. I denied dialysis treatment which was accepted and I used alternative therapy instead of hospital much to their chagrin and later surprise that it worked.
  12. Could someone please clarify what documents are required if I wish to be cremated in Thailand ? What signatures are required ? I have already made my Will for "goods and chattels" etc.
  13. OP - ok I found one on Wednesday 6th July. Excellent advice / explanation / treatment but my appointment was 1pm and I finally saw doctor at 4pm as only he could treat me because I have a pacemaker. Other people were waiting long time too. Would I go again - yes but be there 9 or 10am.
  14. Anyone suggest a good chiropractor in Khon Kaen for spinal issues in a 70+ year old male ?
  15. OP - Thanks for your comments. Went to the local PO and sent an 8.38kg parcel of coffee / dried foodstuffs, cost Baht 6050 for 1 week delivery
  16. Someone posted a few weeks ago about how to keep snakes away from garden, please see attached link to Home And Garden magazine which may give some ideas https://www.msn.com/en-us/lifestyle/home-and-garden/best-snake-repellent-plants-10-plants-to-help-protect-you-and-your-yard/ar-AAYRq7Q
  17. Recently I sent hair products to UK by DHL, when I asked if I could send coffee ( a friend is a roaster ) as well I was told that I cannot send foodstuffs. I asked at the local post office and as I had done last year was told "Yes" can send to UK. The price for 5kg shampoo by DHL was B5830 the price for 1kg foodstuff by Post Office is B1800. Does anyone know a cheaper way to send dried foodstuffs to UK ?
  18. Tahini - me too, spread on toast, use as part of a vegan salad dressing, in hone made yogurt
  19. As a vegan of many years I now use Nuttelex Olive Oil spread. Sometimes if eating toast I use this topped with tahini and coconut sugar syrup.
  20. May 16, 2564 BE Squirrel Proofing Fruit Trees - How To Keep A Squirrel Out Of ... https://www.gardeningknowhow.com › fruits › fegen › sq... Maybe some useful ideas here
  21. I asked my nearest ( Khon Kaen ) DHL office about sending parcel to UK, something I have done in the past. They informed me that they are having "technical issues" in that they cannot issue a waybill, this is now having to be done in Bangkok. That is, DHL KK issues me a receipt, the parcel is sent to Bangkok who then issue a waybill and sends to KK who then have to send a copy to me. Anyone having similar issues at KK. ?
