  1. I own 3 Huawei phones for different reasons with different sim cards. One is 5+ years old, another is 2-3 years old and the last one 5 months old. I bought all in licensed shops. All 3 are still in use without any issue. However, camera and screen of the last one are better than those of the first one. Seems they have improved it significantly. I have no reason to regret my choices. BTW I dislike very much the overpricing and arrogant policy of iPhones who have several reported serious issues.

That’s the thing, it does matter why they left and anyone without a sense of entitlement would have seen what was going on. No, I would never put myself in such a silly position

Was it silly to fly to Europe on February 7 with a return flight on April 6/7?
Was it silly to stay to assist my 90+ years old mother instead of flying back 2 weeks earlier assuming borders will close and flights be cancelled?

Yes it is crazy. I have Non immigrant O visa and extension on retirement. Have multiple reentry visa and had been living in Thailand for almost 9 years. I too left Thailand end of February for a holiday and still I am not able to go back. I have a permanent rental agreement for which I am still paying rental. My expenses in Thailand has never been less than 70000 Bhat a month, so I am contributing to Thailand economy as well.

I hope the authorities will understand soon that not allowing people like us to reenter Thailand on their legal visa is only harming Thailand economy.

not only harming the economy but the government's reputation as well

  4. I arrived Europe on February 7. Usually I spend maximum 6 weeks out of Thailand. To assist my mother (90+) I scheduled to stay 2 months, exceptionally, i.e. 18 more days with a return flight on April 6/7. I knew the international situation was critical but I thought I will be back in time. However, the flight was cancelled days before and the Thai border closed. If I would fly earlier I would not have fulfilled my wish and duty to help my mother what was needed first time in life. Usually I come to Europe a second time in fall but this year it is only one long time, until now 8 months.

I came to Thailand first time in 1984, then yearly mainly twice, and am an expat since 11 years. Not married, on *retirement non-imm re-entry permit* which expires on December 18. Years ago, the IO changed my extension from non-imm OA to O. He said it is easier and OA is not necessary. I thought they cancelled the OA and shifted all retirement expats to O.

I am not bored here as I still have to do this and that but I am afraid to loose my "visa" and need to start from scratch. No to speak about the monthly costs in Thailand which are paid by standing order. My original ticket is valid until end of January, thus I do not need/want to spend a special flight with Thai Airways. In addition I am afraid to pay for the expensive quarantine prison. I will arrive from a low risk country and have no problem to accept home isolation in my condo as I have enough friends who can put food in front of my door. The officers may test me as often they want, control me by an hightech bracelet and threaten me with a penalty of 1-2 millions/billions. But slowly I am loosing the illusion ........

Just like there are actors/actresses that are almost a guarantee for a worthwhile movie (e.g. Robert de Niro, Kevin Spacey, Morgan Freeman, ...) there are also directors which provide consistent quality in their movie projects.

You cannot go wrong with movies by

    - the Coen brothers

    - Stanley Kubrick

    - Akira Kurosawa

    - Milos Forman

    - Lars von Trier

or in the more popular genre, movies directed by

    - Ridley Scott

    - Quentin Tarantino

    - Steven Spielberg

may you forget the Italians Visconti and Bertolucci ?

  6. Since several years a friend of mine apply successfully an oil mixture of Lavender, Sesame, Chamomile, and Immortelle (Helichrysum, Strawflower). It was available as ready made mixture in a small bottle but difficult to get.

I mix it by myself sometimes leaving the Immortelle oil and apply it after each shower some 3 drops. 50+% sesame and the other -50% shared in Lavender oil, Chamomile oil and - if available - Immortelle.

    Organic oil is recommended.

Seems many people fear that they might lose their passport .... I feel so inadequate. I just carry my passport. After decades of doing so I've never lost ... it. Cant recall ever losing my drivers license or any credit cards or social security card, etc. what do some of you get up to that particularly puts your passport at risk....?

I agree. Nevertheless I have hard copies of my passport (main page, re-entry permit, some TMs and the arrival card). Btw color copies are not allowed.

  8. " We are foreigners and don't have permanent residency status, so the landlord / owner / possessor of the place where we stay has to report us. "

Suppose the friends you are visiting for 3 nights in a small remote village without internet and some 60 km far from the next immigration office, the time to travel there shrinks the time of visit about 50%.

Suppose your host will not report you and nobody knows that you was away from your registered address *BUT* a drunken guy on a motorcycle or a reckless car driver causes an accident which needs a police report. Then your trip is not hidden any more and you and your host will be fined. Right?

  9. First I came and now I stay in Thailand thus I have food experience of 35 years. During this period I had food poisening 4 times, each time 1 day, i.e. about once in a decade. Once I got lamblya because a young dog succeeded to lick my lips, but this was an easy diagnosis and treatment. However I have to say that I always ate vegetarian and during the last about 6 years vegan. Meat and seafood in hot climate is more dangerous than at home anyway.

back to the plow with these crooks.  half the time they never understand where you want to go.  let the Chinese have them.  plus there is a lovely new bus service now in CM that i support.  who wants to sit in back of a rickety old pick up truck in the heat. can't wait for the flying taxis

The bus service is ridiculous. Creates pollution and traffic jam. Never seen more than 0 up to 5 passengers in the bus
