  1. Songkran, friends, is a free ticket for a small percentage of xenophobic hateful thugs to attack foreigners at will to let out all their pent up hostilities.

Because of small aggressions I experienced some 20 years ago, I learned to not go out during this "holiday".

    i agree 100%

I was also taken as target once during songkran a few years back.

Nothing serious, but I fell it was a day of letting some of the steam out and for some, xenophobia was part of it.

The scary part was that it was accepted, like it was OK to harass the farang just because it was Songkran.

I now stay home or leave the country.

  2. Gangs seem to be thriving under this regime. I've seen more motocy gang activity in the last few months than the previous nine years combined. It'll flare if not suppressed with a heavy hand.

I think this is exactly where they are trying to get at.

3 step same process all over again,

    - create or let a situation become a problem

    - do nothing to prevent it and let it become so bad that big repression become the only solution

    - Take as many civil rights as possible as people are traumatized and can accept anything

  3. Pretty disgusting and disrespectful behavior. The guy pushed the son, and he obviously hit his head on the concrete when he fell. That can easily result in death. Easily. Of course the mother was upset. Slapping the thai guy was a moderate (though stupid) reaction to him hurting her son. She just did not know what she was dealing with. There should be a warning by all embassies. Hassle or harass, or insult a Thai man at your own peril. Most simply do not have enough self esteem to walk away. And as we all know, they fight in groups, almost never alone. You simply cannot win a fight like that. Hopefully they will be severely punished. And fortunately, this kind of thing does not happen often, at least not randomly, like it happened here.

What about the guy who just got also beaten up in Pattaya and the Lady boy who attacked a

  4. Now on the front page of Australia's national newspaper. Free publicity for Thailand's tourism industry.

    Good!

People need to know whats really going on in this country and how foreigners are just becoming sitting ducks with criminals never punished.

May be if tourism is down they will do something at last.

  5. Double pricing is not about National Parks or Ferris wheels, its Thais people overcharging you everyday because you are a foreigners, under the fallacious excuse that you are richer than them.

It would make some sense or at least explains it, if Thailand WAS actually a poor country.

But this is not the case anymore, Thailand is 100th out of 230 in the GPD rank.

It mean average and there are actually more countries poorer than THL, than there are richer.

    So no it's not justified

  6. "The Immigration Police Command 4 (Nakhon Ratchasima) that initially probed the case has urged their Udon Thani-based counterparts to check any foreigners who may be involved."

So how will that work then?

They have no idea who was involved because false names were used.

Will they just hassle every foreigner on the grounds they are foreign and therefore may be involved?

    That should be fun.

The ''MOST foreigners are using fake names'' is a big give away.

It is highly unlikely that the majority of foreigners here are on fake documents.

I think thats what theyre trying to do.

Make up a fraud problem and obviously come up with 'the solution' ie more Farangs harassment

  7. Thai people are violent. Not just men. You can accept it and take care, Leave, Or not come in the first place. From early childhood they are so repressed they develop little notion of self-control. Just a different way to be.

    Wrong

    Thai people are BECOMING violent.

Childhood is now an incoherent mix of scolding and all is permitted situations, which makes them lost confused and short fused.

Children are bags left in cars while we go at funerals, buried alive when unwanted, or spoiled little brats dressed up as poodles or dolls and which issues are never addressed as persons but as fashion accessories.

Before values, sense of self and the others, the community, sharing, giving were part of education.

Now it's total oblivion and chaos, they can go and ride motorcycles without helmet, who cares / mai pen rai/ if they have an accident they will learn.
