  1. There are really three kinds of illness;

    1. The easily curable kind. This requires a pharmacy visit.

2, The incurable, untreatable kind. This requires patience and lifestyle adaptation.

    3. HIV. For this, you need an infectious disease specialist. Go to Dr. Winai at Siriraj hospital (Used to be Tuesday from 6:00PM to 9:00PM) so he can check your viral load and CD4 count to see if its time to start efavirenz-emtricitabine-tenofovir.

If it's the clap, just take 1000mg of Azithromyacin in one dose without food and don't put your dick into anyone for a week.

    Yet more nonsense !

"Gonorrhea treatment is complicated by the ability of N. gonorrhoeae to develop resistance to antimicrobials (537). In 1986, the Gonococcal Isolate Surveillance Project (GISP), a national sentinel surveillance system, was established to monitor trends in antimicrobial susceptibilities of urethral N. gonorrhoeae strains in the United States (538). The epidemiology of antimicrobial resistance guides decisions about gonococcal treatment recommendations and has evolved because of shifts in antimicrobial resistance patterns. In 2007, emergence of fluoroquinolone-resistant N. gonorrhoeae in the United States prompted CDC to cease recommending fluoroquinolones for treatment of gonorrhea, leaving ------rins as the only remaining class of antimicrobials available for treatment of gonorrhea in the United States" *

Ignorance and attempts at self treatment are making the problem worse !

  2. Since all ED visas are tied to a school, college or university. They are not just general. All the ED visas our students have are tied to our college.

Thats the way it works. For all schools. So the ED visas they have are "from us". Documents we give them that allow them to get their ED visa from Immigration or a Thai embassy or consulate.

And, really, this person is looking for accurate information. if you really do not know much about the subject, perhaps its best to avoid giving misinformation. Just a friendly suggestion.

Lets not make this more complicated than it really is.

    Thanks for the response.

Are you trying to say that a 90 day single entry ED visa has a schools name written on it ?

I am prepared to accept that "extensions of stay" may be linked to an institution but they are not visas are they ...........................

  3. I lived and worked in Thailand for years (1999-2000 and then again 2004-2007). My wife (a Thai national) and I opened an account in both our names at Siam Commercial Bank in Nong Prue, Cholnburi. We've maintained the account ever since, and use it as a method to send money to her family there when needed, and have done annual small wire transfers into it from our U.S. based bank to keep the account active. I can still access it via the SCBeasy website, and see the current balance, but now when we try to wire money it is rejected as "invalid beneficiary." Her family went to a local branch and were told it's a foreigner account and they could also not deposit even THB100 to the account.

Anyone know why? Has a regulatory change occurred? More brilliant anti-foreigner policy-making, or something less nefarious?

Why not just ask the bank about the problem ?

Your Thai wife could inquire without any "language" barrier.

  4. Visas are never cancelled.

If you have a single entry visa just leave .

If you have an extension of stay (not a visa) you may have to cancel at the immigration office which issued the extension.

This is clearly false information. Quite a few people with ED Visas have been turned away from the Nong-Khai border because they didn't have their visas canceled.

    Not false information !

To repeat VISAS are never cancelled but extensions of stay (which are not VISAS) can be cancelled!

  5. I have wondered about living afloat and getting round the Visa madness.

Yacht crews get a 30 day visa on arrival. No big deal but this limited time actually affects Thailand as a Yachtie destination. I have read that they were "thinking about" changing this to make Thailand a Super Yacht destination and attract "a wealthier class" of tourist...but so far no moves.

If I owned a blue water vessel and stamped out of Thai immigration and sailed 12 n.m. offshore I am now in international waters.

Could I not stay there for 24 hours and then sail back and stamp in again for another 30 days ad infinitum? Probably not ?

I could also take a "crew" with me that would require going out & coming back. wink wink nod nod know what I mean ?

Any one got any answers on this ? And to the OP...nice one ! Thinking on your feet is a western trait and it worked well for you.

    There is no "visa madness".

Appropriate visas can be obtained from Thai Embassies/Consulates in most countries.

Why should those arriving by water receive treatment different to those arriving by air or land ?

Arrive without a visa and most are entitled to a "visa exempt entry" whether arriving by land, sea or air ...........

  6. I don't think it was registered has the mother fell out with the father just before he was born. I understand the father is willing to help, his name is on the uk birth certificate and my friend has a copy of his fathers ID card and house book. The father did go to the district office before but no luck

I think this will prove to be an extremely difficult task.

BTW there is no Thai Consulate in Bangkok .

I am no expert in these matters but it might assist if your friend sought help/advise from the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs which is based in Bangkok.

  7. It will depend upon what the immigration officer on entry would do. You could put the re-entry permit number on the arrival card and they might use it instead of the visa.

    Thank you.

Is it a bad idea to ask him to use the re-entry permit? I do nothing sneaky or illegal, right? So I guess I might just can point it out to him.

You will be doing nothing "wrong" but it is the immigration officers decision as to whether the re-entry permit or the visa is used.

  8. I am retired so have none of the official documents to which you refer. I do however have the annual 'retirement stamp' from 22 Jan 2010 through to 1 Feb 2017 in my passport. will this be sufficient from proof of residency?

    Thank you

Suggest you obtain an "address certificate" from immigration. Have that translated and enclose with you PP application as evidence of address.

Your extension of stay stamp will not be accepted as evidence of address.
