  1. You should put some pressure the company to get your passport back to you. Tell them you are going to report it as stolen.

You would have to do a police report for a lost or stolen passport in order to get a new passport at your embassy.

I cannot tell you what you what your embassy will do since each one is different.

You should not need your previous passport to apply for a replacement.

It has caused me to overstay so I'm reluctant to go to the police with this.

You will not be reporting the loss of the passport to immigration but to your local police station.

You need to contact the Embassy and ask if they will process an application for an ETD/passport without a police report.

Best you do that on Monday before the New Year holiday.

  2. Thanks for the replies, house registration, are children of that age required to be in the book.

They are not my children but they are Thai.

The children should be in a housebook.

If you are not the children's parent you may need a letter from the parents authorising you to take them out of the country.

  3. One further point if I may: You say - 'You could apply for a change of visa status to get a 90 day non immigrant visa entry at Jomtien immigration that would allow you to apply for an extension of stay based upon retirement. Could I get a 6 month or 1 year non immigrant visa or is it just a 90 day visa I would be granted?

If you apply for a "conversion" you will be given a 90 entry.

    There are no other options.

    You will need

    3. Copy of your passport data page
    4. Copy of your Laos visa
    5. Completed application form
    6. Passport photographs
    7. The fee of 2000 Bht for a single entry visa or 5000 Bht for a multiple entry visa
  5. While people in Laos are very aware of it and several I spoke are making plans to work in Thailand soon. Must be an absolute horror scenario for the Thai rulers if people from other countries come to work in Thailand, people who are way more motivated, well skilled and working harder then the locals.

The ASEAN agreements do not allow for "freedom of movement" between States.

The present visa and work permit regulations will remain.

The "people in Laos" are sadly very misinformed as it seems are you.

    Source?

    Try Mr Google .

The ASEAN agreements are easy to find.

  6. I went to Immigration yesterday and asked for a certificate of residence.

The lady officer checked my passport and became agitated and went away discussed it with collegues at length. I started to get worried. Then a male officer spoke to me and asked again what I wanted and I said I need a certificate of residence so I can apply for a drivers licence. Apparently the lady thought I was applying for permanent residence! Anyway the guy doing residence certificates told me I first need to do a 90 day report.

Always best to know exactly what is being requested/wanted !

The Lady was correct in her assumption ......................
