  1. Just a update on my visa run.

KL was a no go wanted onwards flights, which i dont have as I am a free spirit.

    So proceeded to Penang.

Many Visa agents here for 40 Malaysian Ringgit fee.

I decided to let them take care of it, then come the problem, she went through my passport and reminded me on how many entries I had already had for Thailand which was nine.

Ouch she gave me a choice and said you can go to the embassy yourself and take a chance reminding me that they have become pretty strict now mentioning the new government and telling me that the rules are being more firmly applied and three visas are the limit.

She told me if i pay 250 ringgit she would guarantee my visa and if for some reason they didn't she would refund. also if i did go and they refused that they would no longer be able to help.

She said you might be lucky and not get a read stamp like people have previously.

I had a grumble and a moan about the current situation but decided to put my trust in her and pay the bribe.

Received my passport today with a single entry and no red mark..

So the new government clamping down on stop people staying long time on tourist visas and suppose to be clamping down on corruption..

How corrupt is that pay the immigrations and you defy both their policies..

When they going to realize that they have made a big mistake and this is not the way forward.

As i found today it only makes bigger corruption in the tourist Industry.

Fly in to malaysia 3 months no questions no forms just finger prints.

Come on Thailand wake up now will you........................

Seems you actually paid a "visa agent" not "immigrations" (who do not have officers in Embassy's/Consulates.)

You also have no idea what the outcome may have been had a personal application been made but I have no doubt the "agent' is happy ! smile.png

  2. A 12 month non immigrant, multiple entry "O" visa issued on the basis of retirement is only available in the UK to those in receipt of a State Pension.

Single entry "O" visas issued in Vientiane to those over the age of 50 normally require evidence of 800,000 Bht in a Thai bank or a certified income of 65k Bht month to be provided..

  3. Thank you.

Doesn't matter what the document is, I don't have it and so can't get it. The thing is the agency I was with knows I don't have this document and fed that information to their immigration lackey. I know this for a fact because out of the blue he asked for it and I've never had any problems with immigration before. It's definitely the agency screwing me around.

As for the Work Permit, it's valid until 30 November 2016, so hopefully should be okay for the re-entry visa.

    Thanks again for your response/advice.

Re entry "visa" ? Do you mean a re entry permit ?

Why would you need a reentry permit if applying for a new multiple entry "B" visa in Penang ?

  4. Were you having to leave the country every 90 days ? If not you did not have a one year "B" visa.

    The "rules" have not changed.

    No, I certainly did not.

My only "visa run" took place right after I signed my contract. They had me go to Vientiane to apply for my new visa, I met a representative from the university there who did the paperwork for me.

After this, they were taking care of the renewal every year. I just had to be physically present, sitting on a chair at immigration and stand up showing my face to the officer when called. That's it.

    Exactly !

So you had an "extension of stay " based on working not a "visa"

The "visa " acquired in Vientiane was cancelled (Used) on entry and was of no further use.

Your employer assisted you to extend your "admitted until" date !

Visas are never "extended" or "renewed".

  5. Well, that was quite a few years ago, maybe rules have changed or I had been misinformed.

I was on a 1-year 'B' visa, don't know if that's the kind of visa we're talking about here.

I certainly recall that I did not have to pay anything and I had left the country a couple of weeks later.

    Sorry if I posted nonsense.

Were you having to leave the country every 90 days ? If not you did not have a one year "B" visa.

    The "rules" have not changed.

  6. I don't even see what kind of fuss could be done. This obviously is a fixed term contract.

If your employer doesn't want to renew it, so what? It might not be honest to you especially if he had promised to renew it, but the law says he's entitled to do so.

And your non-immigrant 'B' will be canceled on the day your contract finishes. As I can recall, when I resigned from my last job in Thailand, the HR folks told me that I had to leave the country within 30 days. No way to apply for another visa from within Thailand.

Valid visas are never cancelled and can be used until they expire.

Extensions of stay become invalid on the day a job ceases. There is no 30 days to leave the country but a 7 day "extension" can be had from immigration for 1900 Bht.

  7. thank you for clarifying

i also read about the O-A visa, though i'm not sure if it suits my circumstances.

what's the difference between the 1 year extension of stay and the O-A visa?

(if it's off topic please let me know and i could start another thread.)

An O/A visa is a Visa which if used correctly allows a two year stay in Thailand without the need to apply for an extension of stay (which is not a visa)

An O/A visa application only requires adequate funds to be shown in your country of origin ........there is no requirement for funds to be held or transferred to Thailand.

An O/A visa can only be issued in your own country of residence.

  8. It was issued "under authority of the US Dept of State," but where was it issued to you would be wherever it was given to you. Mine was issued to me in Bangkok. The receipt I was given along with the passport shows " US Embassy Bangkok."

My previous passport was produced somewhere in the US and issued "under authority of the US Consulate General Dubai," but he wasn't where it was issued. It was issued in Dubai.

A passport data page usually states the "Authority" which issued the passport . I applied for and received my passport in London but the issuing authority was the UKPA.

If I am required to state where my passport was issued I say "London by the UKPA"

  9. Despite the school not informing him, the OP does know what the issue is. Also, the school only wants to kick the kid out and he hasn't actually been expelled yet so absolutely no need to escalate with amphurs, educational regulators or lawyers IMHO.

First, totally sort out the problem with your kid or else you're on a hiding for nothing.

Then arrange a meeting with the head of the school, possibly with the attendance of the kids principal teachers and the kid and make serious amends with the head teacher, relevant staff AND THE KID with all parties 100% agreed that based on the "3 strikes and you are out" premise, any single recurrence of foul-mouthed gobbing off will be grounds for the kid to be expelled. If at all possible, get the agreement in writing and signed.

In the meantime, start looking for another school (if you haven't started already).

Oh yes.... and get some soap.

    Good luck!

    +1

  10. You have a good reading skills sir Suratid and it is pleasure to read something that actually makes one to use thinking effort.

Indeed i am young, 26 to be exact. I definitely not expecting anyone to look after me as i have been living alone, all over the world and taking care of myself for a good ten years now- and hopefully many to come.

I must say that i do not see anything bad from the fact that people can help each other especially when it will serve both parties.

Now to clear some thing up, i now slightly regret the "dad" thing in my original post which i new will draw some unneeded attention and to be honest it is actually irrelevant and odd that people grab more from this than the actual questions and solutions.

My "dad" is internet and over the years i have managed to make in some cases passive income in other cases from daily work. Everything is unofficial since i have no employers.

I have many working ideas and connections all over the world and with a recent ASEAN announcement many new possibilities have risen.

My "prospective" wife has worked for the same company for 15 years and as we have talked that with her and my skills we can create business what will suit our need and prospects, can create jobs and serve many other people in a good way.

She likes the idea to be a self employed and with my ongoing projects and our bilateral ideas we are looking to create something in which we both feel fulfilled.

The idea of her to be a business owner and me to be as employee is just a formal fact and if this is needed to speed things up and start up with less hussle then by all means. We work together each doing what one does best.

Shall you not worry about her family and source of funds because this is very much irrelevant and by no means will hold down what we are about.

Thank you for your feedback thought.

Just as matter of interest what formal educational qualification(s) do you possess ?

What makes you believe you have the necessary skills, knowledge and experience to succeed in business ?

  11. OK, so that is worth the paper it is written on ;-)

Yes it is. I have a friend who is a teacher and was fired after 10 years with one school. His contracts were yearly and he got, with the help of the Labour Dept. lawyers 10 months of severance pay.

I can see that. In the past few years the government has stamped out the practice of employers issuing repeat shortterm contracts which sought to minimise the employees labour rights; think it was based on a case regarding gas bottle delivery workers.

    ]

They have not stamped out anything. Every teacher agency issues 10 month contracts with bonus holdbacks, no benefits, no SS, nothing. Every year the terms in the contracts become more restrictive against the teacher and more in favor of the agency/school. This is the REAL WORLD. Not only has it not been stamped out, it's getting far worse !

If Degree Qualified Teachers accept the terms and conditions you describe who is the fool ?

  12. if someone arrives at suvanabhumi and get a 30 day exempt ( his first visit to thailand after many years) , can he go to a land border and get another exempt?

The initial 30 days can be extended by 30 days at any immigration office for 1900 Bht

If a second visa exempt entry is sought at a land border 30 days is only available to those from G7 countries otherwise it is 15 days.

  13. You could go to Penang and get a single entry tourist visa.

Going back to tourist visa. Is Penang the only option or can I get it in KL (or elsewhere)? How long am I allowed to stay on a single tourist visa?

A tourist visa allows initial stay of 60 days which can be extended for another 30 days at an immigration office.

Tourist visas can be applied for at any Thai Embassy/Consulate.

  14. Maybe she pawned her phone. she must love if she did not ask for money...

She never asked for a penny. I was the one volunteering to offer.

I think someone would pick up a call of a pawned phone. Do pawned phones ring at night?...

I want to trace her and find her; can I report a missing person? she vanished and did not make any contact with me or friends in 3 days.

no activity in Line or fbook

    no txt

    no answering calls

I don't know what to think

You can report her "missing" to the local Police.

Do you have all the relevant details like her real Thai name, DOB etc ?

  15. Are you 100% sure?

Also do we need to now supply all of the documents such as tickets, letters from employees etc as stated here which seems to contradict what you say and what the form states.

    Thanks a bunch, Gary

That link relates to the requirements for a multiple entry tourist visa not a single entry tourist visa.

If your G/F wishes to have a METV that can probably only be obtained in her own country.
