  1. We live in Laos,we have done 2 entry's at Nong Khai since border opened. Second entry was to VFS Bangkok when applying for UK Visa for my wife, she is OK as Laos has bilateral agreement,I've used my 2 exempt entry's so I will need either transit or tourist Visa,to travel to swampy to catch flight to UK I think.

  2. He will tell you what's needed from both party's. I can't remember how much it was but $2000 US rings a bell. And be careful when going for the interview with the Laos authorities, don't let them know you have been sleeping together, even in another country as this is taboo. I ended up with a $500 US fine,as the misses let it slip we stayed together at our apartment in Thailand. Agent managed to get it reduced to $300 in the end.

There is no artificial border hop being offered.  That's pure speculation from the writer of the article.  The fact that he mixes Visa and Extensions of Stay, is already tell-tale that he is not well-informed.

I think you will find the author of the article,is for more informed an Visa issues, than most posters on this forum.

Barry Kenyon, a Liverpudlian by birth, has lived in Thailand for 20 years. For much of the time he was the British embassy's Pattaya officer.

Just looked at requirements for Thai nationals returning from UK,I suppose the requirements will be the same for Thais returning from Laos, just change (fit to fly certificate) with a covid-19 test certificate. I would suggest she visits the Thai embassy in Vientiane if not already done so,they have 2 one that does the Visas, and another not far away, both can be found on Google.

Update on repatriation for Laos citizen returning from Thailand.

The process as I understand it from the wife is,to register with laos embassy complete the registration form, provide photo evidence of passport ID card permanent address in Laos, telephone number Laos, contact number Thai, address in Thailand, reason you need to return to Laos and at which border you will use to leave/enter,how you will be travelling to your border of choice. The information is then sent to Laos    ( electronically I presume) for processing by Laos officials. When complete the Laos embassy Thailand will phone us,I presume they then post the repatriation document to our address in Thailand. They say the process can take up to 2 weeks.Lets just hope we get it in time to allow for travel to Nong Khai before the visa amnesty finishes at the end of the month.

She needs to contact the Lao Consulate in Khon Khaen and fill out the paperwork to apply to repatriate to Laos, she will also need a medical certificate, but best to contact them and see what the specific requirements are.

Thanks for that info,we will go to the Laos embassy tomorrow in BKK and make enquiries there,we are in pattaya now so much nearer than khon kaen. Thanks again

  7. Thank you for the information, would you know what relevant documents are required ?we have contacted the Laos embassy in Bangkok, they just tell us the border is closed and you can't go back to Lao's. They sent us a letter to show at immigration to extend her stay when the amnasty finishes at the end of the month, which she won't need I presume if the amnasty is extended. She has no problem regarding the 14 days quarantine so any further information regarding relevent  documentation would be very much appreciated.

  8. My wife is a Laos citizen,we have been in Thailand since March, she has permission to stay untill the 30th July, she would like to go back to Lao's before the visa amnasty ends.

Does anybody out there know if she can return home, and if so does she need any special documents to leave Thailand and enter Laos.

She would exit via the border nong kahi.

    Many Thanks

Emirates has confirmed it will start flying to Bangkok again on July 2nd with 1 daily flight (revised schedule). The original flight plan was showing 2 daily flights to Bangkok to begin on July 1st, and 1 daily flight to Phuket. Under the revised schedule, Phuket flights resume July 16 I think with initially 5 weekly flights.

I don't think Thailand will extend the flight ban this late, given the situation is under control now, it's almost the end of the month (and last month they extended it like 10 days before the end of the month). Plus, starting July 1st, a large group of foreigners (50,000+) are going to start arriving in Thailand. They wouldn't be able to, on the current skeleton schedule of just 6-8 daily international flights in place until June 30th.

While THAI won't resume flights until August or September (or perhaps never?) other airlines should slowly see schedules return to normal during July and August...except Qantas, which won't offer any flights to/from Bangkok until late October at the earliest. Interestingly, Bangkok Airways from the beginning said - no international flights until October 24th, not even to Myanmar or Laos.

I think if you check again Emerates have put restart of flights out of BKK back to 16th July. From 1st July EVA have 3 flights a week to London, every Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. The price for today's flight to London was 20750 THB in economy and 29180 THB in premium economy.

Non flammable very safe refrigerant no leak detector needed, you can smell it a mile away.

Used in large commercial operations for these reasons, cheap too.

Would not want you as my Health And Safety Representative

Ammonia is considered a high health hazard because it is corrosive to the skin, eyes, and lungs. Exposure to 300 parts per million (ppm) is immediately dangerous to life and health. Ammonia is also flammable at concentrations of approximately 15% to 28% by volume in air.

  11. Most important point for most.

Prime Minister’s Order No. 06 until June 1, as follows:

    • Closure of all local and international border crossings to the general public;
    • Suspension of all types of entry visa for citizens travelling from or transitting via Covid-19 outbreak countries, except visas for diplomats, experts, technical staff and workers who are considered essential.

Foreigners entering Laos are required to comply with Lao Covid-19 prevention measures about which the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will issue instructions at a later date.
