  1. I arrived today and there was lots of people in the immigration queue that were filling out the TDAC . The bloke in front of me had not done one and the immigration officer sent him away.

The people I saw in front of me were all showing their TDAC proof. I handed over my folded TDAC print outwith the bar code showing along with my boarding card and passport.

    No problems at al.

  2. Not everybody in Thailand speaks or understands English. Many people who do not will be embarrassed that they do not understand your English or badly pronounced Thai.

No Thai would ever say 'Saitong, nung krap' they would say something like 'sai toong hai noi krap' or 'sai toong hai duay na khrap' or 'kor toong bai diaw khrap' if you just wanted a bag.

Learn to speak Thai , be confident and pronounce your Thai language well and you will have a much better experience.

Surprised nobody has brought up the Issan version of farang yet.

ผักสีดา Pak see da which also means guava

In the Isan Lao dialect, the guava is called mak sida (Thai: หมากสีดา), mak being a prefix for fruit names. Thus bak sida (Thai: บักสีดา), bak being a prefix when calling males, refers jokingly to a Westerner.

ผัก is the prefix for vegetable. I would have thought if you could actually speak Thai you would know this 555.

I think the best guess is that anyone who had to fill in a paper TM6 before (and still has to do so at some land borders right now) will have to fill in the electronic version as well. Which means no distinction between tourists and longterm foreign residents.

For the ETA, on the other hand, they had mentioned that it's only for those entering visa exempt. Which makes sense, because longterm foreign residents with a re-entry permit have their pre-approval to re-enter in that form already.

    100% correct

The passport office has informed me that they can not process payment  for my new passport without saying what the problem is. I can only presume that the problem is my Bangkok Bank Be1st debit card. As the message that I received talks about payment in a meaningful if unclear way. The card has a Mastercard logo on it and I know that Mastercard is acceptable because it says so on the passport application form. I did notice that my card has an end by date but no starting date. Can this be the problem? If so how to solve it?  Am I blessed to be the first Expat. who has encountered this problem? Help and advice please. I am reluctant to broach the problem with my bank as the staff assume the frozen rabbit stare when faced with any unfamiliar problem.

I have a Bangkok Bank Be1st debit card and when August Suites in Pattaya asked for a card for the room deposit they would not accept it.

How will a fictional date work IF the OP is required to upload an air ticket that doesn't show the same dates?

I'm possibly confused (!) but from memory, I wasn't required to enter travel dates but was required to state number of days and upload a ticket.

This was also November 2023, London, Tourist Visa

I was not required to upload a flight ticket only to provide flight number.

I double checked before this reply, need to enter on the form...date of arrival/departure, length of stay automatically comes up, which in my case is 120 days....flight number...copy of travel booking confirmation...

Sorry to be clear I suggest putting a fictional date that is within 60 days then you will have your visa issued.

The travel dates are not on the visa that is issued.

November last year I provied a fully refundable hotel booking with Agoda that I later cancelled.

I am facing a similar issue with the alignment of visa dates and plane ticket dates.

I plan to travel to Thailand, initially on a 30-day visa exemption, which I intend to convert to a Non-O visa and then extend for retirement purposes.

Since I need to return home later in the year for a wedding, I will be buying a return ticket that extends way beyond the 30-day exemption period.

My concern is whether immigration will allow entry into Thailand with a return ticket that exceeds the 30-day visa exemption, or if I will need to purchase a cheap throw away ticket that coincides with the 30-day exemption period.

Why not apply for a Non -O single entry in your own country before you go ?

  9. I applied for a Tourist visa from London in November last year. If I remember correctly you have to enter your flight dates and flight number. I did not have to submit proof of an actual flight booking, only the dates and flight number for departure.

As I fly KLM regular I remembered the flight number. My visa was issued and I then booked a flight on a different day.

I am currently filling in my 60 day visa application,(UK)  on the form there's the question, what are my travel dates?, my dates are for 4 months Nov-Feb, the travel document is also uploaded, when I enter the dates it automatically shows up as 120 days, do they accept I can/will be extending from 60 to 120,  can I expect problems from the embassy?

So you are applying for a 60 day visa and trying to put in a stay of 120 days . Expect problems with your application.
