  1. Seconded. Thinking about a Lao trip too ...also to add, does bike have to be in your name or is it ok in the wife's name? (Can change if not). And, Can you go into Lao at say Vientianne and exit at say Pakse crossing (chomlek?) Or say savannakhet ...or does it have to be the same point for exit and entry? Thx in adv. for any info given.

Awesome  bike for its price. Does the lack of ABS bothered you somehow? Or do you find it not essential in using the TNT?

Sorry for the delay getting back, hardly on TV. TBH I have no problem braking without ABS but then I'm not really qualified to make a comparison as I have never owned a bike with ABS. Rode a bike with ABS once for 10 clicks but never got right into it to find out. As a guess, I think if you are an experienced rider then non-ABS bikes are fine, but I've heard with ABS if yer a bit jumpy on the brakes then it may well keep you out of trouble. So to answer yer question: lack of ABS doesn't bother me at all on the Benelli 300.

Over to someone with more experience of the two that can maybe comment. Cheers.

  3. About a 1000kms done on pair of new tyres, Metzeler Sportec's. Transformed the bike over those excrement IRC's and nice now to have tyres that dig in under braking and that can lean further than my old age confidence. Fitted 3,200 Baht for the pair and recommended.

13K and 2 years 5 months old, no more issues at all. Great bikes for the money.

  4. Talking about big bike rental, do any of you out there know of and can recommend a good outfit to rent from in Bangkok, Nonthburi or Nakhon Pathom provinces?

Friend coming over at some point and would like to rent ER6N, Z800 or any other make similar in range aka basically any other big bike. However, with any recommendations, looking for that possibility that said bike does come with 1st class insurance (bra gan chan nung) ...is their such an outfit/such a thing?. Fine too if its more cash ...too many horror stories of the usual rental scammers eh.

Thx in advance if any of you out there have a recommendation. Cheers Khrugin

Just noticed this is in Hua Hin forum ...sorry mods will post new thread in motorcycle forum.

  6. I can give you a bit of info for your Hua Hin to Kanchanaburi leg to make it more interesting. Go via Keng Krachan then north as near to the Myanmar border as possible towards Suan Pheung town then through Suan Pheung valley ... then onto Dan Makaam Tia and finally Kan. If you can figure out yourself on google maps then great, if not PM me and I can rattle my brain as to road numbers. Did this the other way in October and muchos enjoyed.

Have a great road trip and sounds nice.

  7. O negative can be used as is universal for blood transfusions and yes for A negative patients, but yes it is always preferable to use existing type if available.

Sorry to hear this but surely the hospital does have O negative on hand, I could be wrong though.

if money is not an issue, i wouldn't get a benelli as it doesn't have the reliability/quality history of a honda or yamaha... also the Kawasaki would be good option ?

Lol, yep the Yamaha may be better than the Benelli, but lol certainly not the Honda 300. Have you not seen the stories of late right here on Thia Visa? The major one being a knackered crank from new? Oh well.

I have a Benelli 300, 5800kms since March and very minor issues. Good fun bike to ride, have a look at the 'Benelli TNT300s' here in motorcycle forum and look at the reviews by people that do own them and not the people who seem to like knocking China.

Having said that from the OP's choices, MT03 if money isn't an issue ...more power a and few more cc's (324 versus 300). Earlier in the year 38,000 Baht was the difference between Benelli TNT300 and Yamaha MT03 thus decision for me was made ...pay cash outright for Benelli or a years finance to buy the MT ... and a good move by me as lovin it, the Benelli that is

  9. Some numbers can run high. '8888' on a Benelli last year cost the owner 10,000 baht.

Was quoted 1,500 baht for '300' and told have to wait a long time thus didn't bother.

And if you want 1 gor gor 1111 on BKk plate ...that went for auction around 25 millions baht.

Just go ask at yer local transport office ...I'm sure prices vary wildly from free to ridiculous.

  10. .... and lol just noticed the black and orange ones have brown knee tank covers and black engines (plus spoke wheels and tracker tyres), black forks and are probably both 69,800 baht ....whereas red and green ones no knee tank covers, silver engines, and mag wheels with big old car tyres on em, and gold forks which are both 72,500 baht.

So I am guessing there are no other options than this and this is two styles in two available colours each style and at two prices ....that's my best guess (detest assuming though). Let's all wait for the Stallions glossy brochure next month eh.

  11. ^ From above post. Seems the 4th colour black one has spoke wheels and different 'tracker style' tyres too like the orange one in OP. I guess this black one above is 69,800 baht.

As the last salesman I spoke to indicated 'subject to change' ....it's probably black and orange with spokes and red and green with mags ....but never know could be option on all 4 to have mags or spokes. Lol, not easy getting all the right info from these folk.

Thx for the pics above Maz.

  12. Found out a little more at same fair stand today. Also available in black, making 4 choices including red, green, and orange. Yes the price difference is the mag versus spoke wheels but it appears only spoke wheels offered on the orange one (however the more knowledgeable sales man said this may be subject to change.)

Will be on sale very late December and most outlets not until January, oh they are not on sale yet but can be reserved for 2000 baht and this dealer alone has about 30 reserves so far. Comes with 2 year warranty or 20,000 km's whichever the sooner.

As for those, what can you call em high profile, tyres front 4.00 17, rear 4.50 17, asked if could change for sensible tyres something like you get on an MT03 or TNT300 for example and the answer was 'probably' ...IMO would be a great improvement and even the guy said 'not a bike for pushing hard in corners' given these tyres. However changing would put the speedo out of whack somewhat.

Seems pre-sales going well, Thai's and the odd guava will lap em up at this price.

  13. Was thinking of similar journey but from Kanchanaburi onto Sisawat then onward to Mae Sot. Didn't know about the pass thing so will look at maps again. Yep there's quite a few middle of nowhere turns to find and my experience of most of these turns in the countryside is no sign ..ask a local.

Did a route from Ban Pong to Dan Makaam Tia, through Suan Pheung valley, Baan Ka then down to Keng Krachan recently .... was nice about 300kms and yep 3 stops to ask a policman or local ... but that Mae sot finish looks a cracker eh.

Be nice if anyone has more info on the route and the Umphang pass thing. Enjoy it if you can do it.

It does looks very very cool and should be a hit with many Thais.

Are you sure that green one haven't been modded by the shop selling it?

I'm fairly sure it is stock as the sales lad said the green one on the stand is 72,500 baht and same price as red one in advert behind and if you do a good zoom in the red one has the same numberplate mount, seat etc.. Also asked him as to how many colours these will be available in and the answer was three as in OP.

Price difference seems to be alloy or spoked wheels , zoom in to the orange one.  Its crazy that a company will "invest" millions into a product ( a good one at that ) , many people will attempt to make contact to further enquire or purchase and yet Martins story seems far too common. Many Thai / Chinese / Asian companies seem to fall at this last point.

Thx for that yep the wheels in the main make the difference too me thinks. Yep, ok it was 3 in the afternoon and  mainly in the evening when people walk around the fair, but they left this huge stall with some 40 bikes to one saleskid who didn't seem to know much about nothing ...I saw other potential Thai customers trying to engage him and off he went in the other direction with a can of spray polish ....yep, not the way to run a company and win customers eh.
