  1. Decided to purchase the new Nissan Navara Double Cab.

After doing the 'rounds' of dealerships in Pattaya I decided to buy the Nissan - Got to say the whole purchasing process was handled very professionally - Went to showroom on Monday, booked the vehicle on Wednesday and collected it on Saturday.

I signed a lot of paperwork and I was a cash buyer no idea how much paperwork would be involved if you were financing the vehicle ??

I signed the form to allow them to apply for registration and I've been told they'll contact me when they can fit the White plates.

As I said so far so good - I'll let you know how long it takes for the White plates.

  2. Thanks for the reply.........

So if you buy a new pick up and wait until you've got your white plates and then decide to add a Carry boy or simply a Roller Top do you still have to re-register ?

I'm particularly interested in this topic as I'm collecting my new pick up from the Dealership today and it will obviously have Red Plates. I was thinking about adding a Roller Top or similar.

So would this be classed as a Canopy ? and would I have to

Re-register ? and if so is it a simple procedure ?

Sorry for the barrage of questions but as I've said on another post I've recently retired to Thailand and am finding this forum very helpful.

    Thanks,

    H

  3. What's the story with the Red plates on new vehicles ?

Was just reading a post where OP said "should have my white plates soon and can then get a canopy fitted ". I understand that new cars have Red plates for a couple of months but was surprised that he said he had to wait for the White plates before he could fit a canopy to his pick-up ??

    Thx

  4. I'm looking to buy a Headboard for a 6ft bed - When I try and search the likes of Lazada and Central it's coming up with

'No results'. Is there a Thai word for Headboards that I should use for searches ?

    Thanks,

    H.

  5. I used to specialise in photos of 'Hardbills' in the UK.

From what I can see a lot of these birds are probably 'Softbills'.

My favourite species for photos in the UK were Bullfinches, Goldfinches, Siskins etc. These are all Hard bills (seed eaters) whereas the likes of Robins, Thrushes etc., are Soft Bills (Berry eaters)

Are there any birds here that are similar to our UK Hard bills ?

  6. Before I get criticised may I say I do not drink and drive !

Just out of curiosity wondered what the drink / drive limit is ?

Please forgive my lack of understanding in Thai driving laws etc., ie. my earlier post re 'Is it legal to use a mobile whilst driving'.

As I said I do not drink and drive and actually believe it should be zero tolerance - However, only having recently retired to Thailand I'm still finding everything very different - This forum is proving very helpful - Apologies if I am not yet accustomed to the forum etiquette......

    Thanks,

    H.

  7. Thanks for the replies - I would never use a mobile phone whilst driving.........

Bluetooth was fitted in my new car as standard but I still refrain from using the phone whilst driving even with factory fitted Bluetooth.

My question was simply whether it was legal - I'm pleased that it's illegal, just amazed at how many drivers I've seen using their mobiles.

    Cheers,

    H.

  8. Lay-Z-Boy office chair just been delivered 8980 Bhts off Central online - The exact same chair is on Office mate site for 10790 Bhts so Central Online is cheaper, OK.

Get this - The chair was delivered in an Office mate van and assembled in my house by staff wearing Office mate uniforms !!!!

  9. Hi All,

I've recently retired to Thailand and live in a house with a totally secure garden.

I've read this thread and found it very interesting.

Back in the UK I to kept working GSDs and Malis but didn't think it fair to bring my current 2 dogs with me, one 8 years old and the other 5 years old (Mother & Son) so they've stayed in the UK with my daughter.

I'm now looking to buy a pup or young adult either a GSD or Mali.

However, I've been looking at the Thai dogs (Ridgeback) obviously I've never owned or trained a Thaidog but based on what I've read they appear to have a similar temperament to a Mali ??

I have no Dog contacts here in Thailand so if anyone can point me in the direction of a breeder or if anyone knows of a young adult that's for sale please let me know. As I said the breeds I've had over 25 years experience with are working GSDs and Malis but if the Thaidogs are as good as what I've read then I'd condsider also consider a Thaidog.

Apologies for going off topic but I felt that plenty of real dog people have contributed to this thread, hence, my post.

    Many thanks,

    H.
