But 2023 may offer up more misery, with a looming recession providing another dose of risk, according to Morgan Stanley chief U.S. equity strategist Michael Wilson. The S&P 500 could fall to as low as 3,000 points, a decline of more than 20% from its current trading level of roughly 3,900 points, Wilson said in a YouTube discussion last month about his 2023 outlook. The main reason for that bearish forecast: U.S. corporate profits are likely to slump as the economy slows and perhaps enters a recession.

Putin forces have now stopped ferrying vehicles directly through the city and now the train with T-62 tanks battle tanks have now arrived at the Sokologornoye station of the Genichesk district in southern Ukraine.

Dense fog has delayed more than a hundred flights and dozens of trains, causing chaos at airports and railway stations. Authorities in the capital Delhi have asked schools to extend winter holidays and cancelled classes. The minimum temperature in parts of the city dropped to 1.9C on Sunday. Other northern states have also been grappling with an acute cold wave, with temperatures plummeting to -6C (21F) in Indian-administered Kashmir.

China Covid: More than 88 million people in Henan infected, official says Nearly 90% of people in Henan, China's third most populous province, have now been infected with Covid, local health officials say. Provincial official Kan Quancheng revealed the figure - amounting to about 88.5 million people - at a press conference. China is battling an unprecedented surge in cases after abandoning zero-Covid policies in December. The move followed rare protests against lockdowns, quarantines and mass tests.

He visited a migrant centre in El Paso and joined Border Patrol agents in touring a section of the border wall. The number of migrant crossings has spiralled in recent months, making the Democratic president vulnerable to the accusation he is soft on security. Last week he announced tougher measures to expand the nationalities of those who can be sent back to Mexico. But that left the Republican governor of Texas, Greg Abbott, unimpressed - he said the president was failing to enforce immigration laws.
